“1st time here, immediately like it, they have sauces on the side for you to put in your food. I came for a chicken teriyaki bowl but I already want the baked salmon roll. I feel I have missed out these past few years by not stopping and checking it out.“

“This quaint amazing Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem in Boyle Heights. Very friendly staff and great food. They also let me order 10 minutes before closing. The only, minor, complaints are that there is very limited seating, they have a limited menu and they operate limited hours.“

“we ordered a big catering order from guzzu for an office meeting. It was phenomenally good. The food was packaged really well, was hot, fresh, and delicious, and a huge hit. The salmon was moist and flavorful, the vegan katsu was surprisingly delicious, ans both the grilled chicken and fried chicken were really good. Will definitely be ordering from them again, and can’t wait to stop in to try non-catering!

“My boyfriend and I got the omakase but to be honest it was not worth it, the food tasted great but you can get almost the exact same course by ordering the 10 piece nigiri from the menu for half of the price. The atmosphere is nice but not appropriate for a traditional omakase. Highly recommend, just save your money and skip out on the omakase.“

“What a GREAT dinner! Met friends here on a late Friday night and they fit us in. The sushi was fresh and so tasty, definitely the best I’ve had in a LONG time. “I like this katsu place. We also tried the spicy miso ramen. It was good, but quite spicy, so if you can’t handle spicy food, I think it’s better to choose something else. Expect to wait for a while during dinner time. If you order katsu to-go, they will give you the whole set in a bento box.“

“I am a frequent visitor of the Uptown Whittier location and absolutely love it. I recently moved down to a new neighborhood and coincidentally found their sister location very nearby. The menus are very different, but the quality is still the same top tier that you'd expect. I was impressed with the price and quality of their pork belly skewers. Only $4 for high-quality pork belly skewers is insane! I loved everything I ordered and the service was great. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

“A true hidden gem that I hope won't be hidden for long. Some of the best poke and handrolls I've had in LA. All very fresh fish, flavorful seasonings, and big portions, especially the huge handrolls. Better than Kazunori. I recommend the blue crab and spicy tuna.“

“I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and placed a large order. One of the items ordered was the chicken teriyaki bento box. Everything item on the plate was freshly made and delicious. There were 4 pieces of tempura veggies and 4 pieces of California roll. The chicken teriyaki bowls were just as fresh and contained an ample amount of chicken and rice. The owner was kind and gracious and friendly. An additional plus for that. This is a great place to go for sushi. The California rooll and the spicy tuna roll we ordered we delicious. I look forward to my next visit so that I can try the ramen. Hope you all give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.“

The house salad was healthy (not just iceberg lettuce) and had a generous portion for one person. My friend said it was super delicious - Sunset roll, blue crab roll, and miso black cod were on point flavor wise. “After visiting Universal Studios, we went to see our friend in LA and we had lunch here before we travel to OC. This little restaurant is quite nice, hiding on a busy street, there's only parking on the streets or a paid public parking in the back which was a little difficult to use credit card to pay but after many tries and we did it.
It was a hot day and the AC in this restaurant was good enough for us to have a nice lunch.
The service was extremely attentive and pleasant. There are quite a few Japanese dishes that we could enjoy. Especially Ramen of all types. It's a little salty for my taste but quite delicious.
I had the spicy tuna rice bowl which is quite filling and tasty with salad. I finished the whole thing.
We ordered some appetizers which came out quite amazing. Spicy tuna on crispy rice cake.
Our friend ordered her favorite spicy tuna rolls which she finished all.
My kids had the tonkatsu chicken and potbelly bowls that they really enjoyed all LOL.
The desert was so good that we ordered 2.
The prices are so inexpensive here, the food is great and the service is excellent. We will come here next time again when we're in Highland Park.“

“This is a jewel of a place, it's on the southside of the street on Whittier Blvd about a quarter mile west of Beach blvd. Their sushi rolls are excellent and their prices are a bit lower than other sushi places who overcharge for the same faire.
Gunn, the proprietor is the nicest guy and he's humorous and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome every time you come in. The best tasting sushi in the area!

“Loved stopping by this tiny cafe, such a beautiful interior design. This cafe is a small area in the entrance of their restaurant that has a few chairs. We ordered one yuzu custard pastry (subtle flavor, not very sweet, great texture and flakiness), a hot Amai con panna (a nice cinnamon and cream espresso) and another cold drink I cannot remember the name of (but it is the one pictured here) both drinks were nice but just a heads up they are super sweet. The minimal and sleek interior design is unique and has a few seats. It’s not the type of cafe to sit for a long time, it’s more of somewhere you come for a short visit to be present with a friend and enjoy unique caffeinated cocktails.“

“Just stopped by here for lunch for my kiddos and I and I’m so glad we did it was delicious! I got a teriyaki bowl with veggies. I’ve been to different teriyaki places and this has to be my top favorite now! Very fresh and flavorful the place is very clean Inside, and the employees were very sweet. “Chinchikurin was my first ever Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. I've had the Osaka version in Japan many years ago, but haven't had okonomiyaki of any kind in the US since. So this experience was definitely fun. The food was very tasty and well built. I ordered the Loaded Kaisen, which was the seafood okonomiyaki as part of the 11-layer savory pancake. It was very filling. After the cooks make the okonomiyaki at the main teppan grill, you eat it at your own personal grill at your table, which keeps your order nice and warm. Be sure to put a lot of the mayo and otafuku sauce atop it to make the flavor even bolder and more exciting. If you've never had okonomiyaki before, Chinchikurin is a great place to start. There are very few of these kinds of restaurants in LA, so Chinchikurin is a very unique Japanese cuisine in Little Tokyo worth scoping out.
