“This is my go to spot for excellent chicken teriyaki and beef plate. The avocado is a must!! Have also had their egg rolls and were very good, nice crunch and delicious! Yum Service is always great, I typically order 10 min ahead and food is pretty much done right when I get there. If your having any doubts about this place... DONT , you will not be disappointed.“
“They were nice abt adding xtra sauce over the rice no notes to leave on the Uber app and I forgot about the condiments section to ck all nine of my ppl are starving and the baby 3/almost 4 eats boosie like adult wanted sushi ewww so turns out I can have sm1 go pay for it Ty for the service. Great atmosphere“
“OMG this Japanese restaurant and dessert place is super cute and delicious. Follow me!Highlights of the menu:1. Original pancake - super jiggling2. Durian hot premium pancake - Oh em Gee love!!3. Strawberry matcha dalgona4. Hot coffee with marshmallow and cookie5. Chicken karaage6. Tonkatsu curry“
“My friend recommended this market to me. It is easy to miss because the entrance is in the back. The kids like ordering the fresh seafood and although the store is small, they have a good selection of rolls along with other Japanese items. My two favorite things to get are the avocado roll which has been consistently creamy and delicious and the chicken karaage that has a fantastic dipping sauce. If you like mochi ice cream, they have a brand named “Mochidoki” that has flavors like Chocolate Habanero and birthday cake. There are also some cute items such as stationary and pet toys. There is some parking in the back that is shared with Thai Paradise and also parking on the street“
“Purely for charm and LA history, Otomisan is outstanding. The oldest continuously operating Japanese restaurant in the city, there's certainly a retro feel to this place that can't be replicated.Ever since a few well-received profiles (Vice, PBS, etc), Otomisan has experienced a burst in popularity. On Saturday, we arrived at 11:30am, which is when they opened, and already all three booths were taken. Our party of four sat at the counter, which honestly might have been the reason we had such swift service. The owner is SUPER nice and even though she was obviously totally overwhelmed with a long waiting list and a bunch of takeout orders, she handled everything with a smile and didn't rush anyone out.The food is exactly like what I had when I ate at my friends' parents' or grandparents' houses who were Japanese American, so this meal was a lovely hit of nostalgia.Highly recommend the katsu, teriyaki, tempura, edamame, and salmon roll.“
“First visit here. Absolutely loved it. The albacore sashimi should really be renamed a carpaccio. Thinly sliced premium seared albacore with a tangy delicious ponzu sauce. With more than 10 slices, it's the perfect delicacy to share with someone special. Everything else here was super fresh and tasty. The ambience is dark & comfy and the customer service was friendly, quick & efficient. I found my new favorite spot for sushi.“
“I recently took my lunch break at Guzzu Bento-ya, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I opted for their Hayashi Rice, a flavorful twist on Japanese beef stew, and it instantly became my new favorite comfort food, especially in the chilly weather. The braised tender beef, onions, and mushrooms melded together perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The space was cozy and perfect to do some work. I love how they have anime playing on the projector.Beyond their renowned bento boxes, Guzzu Bento-ya impressed me with their new salads and stews, each bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly accommodating, offering spot-on recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Whether you're craving a classic bento box or eager to explore their latest offerings, Guzzu Bento-ya is sure to exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!5/5“
“We tried the diamond set. The meat quality of the 1st round was really good. But the quality of a5 wagyu was not as good after the 1st round. Sweet shrimp was not that fresh, and the steam egg portion was too big. The wagyu sandwich was not good at all and way too dried. Overall, it was a great experience.“
“I decided to try this place out since a friend recommended it while I was in Little Tokyo. I honestly didn’t have any expectations for an udon place because I’ve had udon at the Marugame Udon chain and expected something similar. Let me tell you that this place elevates their udon to the next level. The mentai udon was easily one of my favorite meals during my trip to LA. The sauce was creamy, savory, and sweet with the perfect balance. The umami from the mentai and shrimp complements the sauce so well. It wasn’t too rich and was just right. I slurped up all of the sauce it was that good. Highly recommend and would come back. Service was also very attentive and kind.“
“Wow!!!! Hands down my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Their beef pho is delicious? and out of this world. I’ve been a big fan of pho ? and have been eating this dish for years just about everywhere I travel to when I’m out of state or in the mood for it here in the city. This is my new favorite spot for pho. Wish I can give them 10 stars because they deserve it.“
“My boyfriend and I got the omakase but to be honest it was not worth it, the food tasted great but you can get almost the exact same course by ordering the 10 piece nigiri from the menu for half of the price. The atmosphere is nice but not appropriate for a traditional omakase. Highly recommend, just save your money and skip out on the omakase.“
“Yuli was the best!!!The food and cocktails never disappoint here. We had an amazing dinner with the best waitress Yuli. We just loved her, she provided outstanding service with a warm and welcoming demeanor. She demonstrated excellent knowledge of the menu, offering recommendations and accommodating special requests with ease. Overall, her professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. She's a true asset to the restaurant!“
“DO I HEAR BETTER THAN BENIHANA!? Seriously this is a HIDDEN GEM! Prices are really good based on flavor and quantity you are getting! ABSOLUTELY YES. And the rice… my GOODNESS. Don’t even get me started on that piece of heaven they prepare. Seriously wish I could gatekeep but I want them to THRIVE (as they should) so they are around forever!!! The cherry on top you ask? The customer service is superb! Mario was very nice from the first time I went! They seriously won a client for life!YOU WON’T REGRET GOING! Thank me later!!!“
“we had a great experience here at lunchtime yesterday. good options for veggies, really tasty ramen. the service especially was fantastic - as soon as we came in with my baby daughter, the waitress brought a high chair and even an age-appropriate sippy cup full of water which i was so impressed by. amazing friendly team!“
“An excellent and authentic experience for sushi in the style you would see in Japan. Signs at the entrance set expectations (no teriyaki, no tempura, no noodles) to avoid disappointment from people looking for a more standard Americanized Japanese dining experience. No spicy mayonnaise, sweet eel sauce basted rolls here (though those do have their moment elsewhere in Little Tokyo). Nigirizushi and sashimi dominate the menu with mostly bar seating. 3-4 sushi chefs manage sections of the bar and will freshly prepare sushi from breaking down the fish to putting it on your platter. Ambiance and service are to Japanese tastes. The waitlist is based around having a name on a written list and waiting for your name to be called. No electronic contact or list monitoring. Arrive at opening or be prepared to wait. Prices are standard for this quality of sushi which is to say that the meal will be a special occasion.“
“We came for the famous $23 lunch special and we’re not disappointed! The fish is extremely fresh and the portion of fish, rice, and appetizers was good for lunch. We also got the sushi deluxe combination to split. The sashimi lunch special was the best value item!Come early to wait! We got in line around 10:20 on a Tuesday morning and got in with the first group to be seated (they open at 11 and the line is pretty long by 10:30. We found out that the a la carte menu is only served at the bar so if you want to to order off the normal menu, make sure you grab a table instead of sitting at the bar.“
“So good!! Food: Amazing. I ordered the assorted yaki gyoza (veggie pork chicken and shrimp) and it was so good I ordered 6 more pork gyoza. Perfectly cooked with a nice crisp to the bottom, amazing flavor, and so juicy. They have different ways to prepare, I think yaki, maybe steam (don't quote me) and in the soup. The soup was also really flavorful and good (and hot haha watch out). They also have a ton of side sauces to choose from, but I love the basic ponzu. Better gyoza than a lot of ramen shops (IMO those usually have too much garlic) and reminded me of great gyoza spots in japan. Price: dude so cheap. I bought food for two people: an assorted bento, an assorted 6 piece, rice, and edamame for around $30. Ambiance: super chill, decent amount of seating, not super loud and can have convos easilyCustomer service: super friendly, explains everything, super cute drawings on the containers, quick as well.I think it's fairly new so business is still trickling in. Hoping they thrive so that I can keep coming back, I'll definitely be craving this again very soon.“
“Love their speciality drinks and fun breads and pastries. I got the curry pan and the strawberry sakura latte and both were really good. The floral and berry flavors worked nicely with the coffee but the sakura flavor wasn’t super strong. Pretty centrally located in Little Tokyo and the staff are really nice. There were a few tables inside but I took my order to go.“
“My first time coming to Sushito, and will definitely be back again once my mom and I get a craving for teriyaki bowls! Was greeted very well, lady in front was very friendly, polite, and patient when I asked her questions about the menu. Was also told about their buy 2 bowls/plates get 1 free on Tuesdays!“
“Been going here with my little siblings for a few years now. Their ramen is delicious and never disappoints, always finishing the last drop!!Their waiters are sweet and great service. I would go here from time to time and it's still good as always!!“
“Highly recommend this place! It’s so good for a great price. You get a great amount of food too and it’s always fresh.I have gotten my friends and co workers into this place and they weren’t disappointed. The service is great too! It makes me keep coming back. If you’re in the Buena Park area, check them out. You won’t be disappointed.“
“Seems simple. Looks like maybe "i could make this at home" but it is not. It is 10/10 actually and unironically the best thing ive had all year. And i get sushi ALOT. This is great. And i think other ppl have noticed too cuz ive been here twice an hour before closing and they've run out.“
“Had a great dinner at Kogane again. The food and service were great. The sushi chefs were friendly and gave very interesting tidbits about the fish, process and taste. The meal lasts about 1 hr and 45 min. Since everyone eats at the same rate for each dish through the course, don't forget to be on time. :)“
“All kinds of foods from Akasaka sushi restaurant are always Hugh! Big! more n more foods coming!!! Particularly the Hugh sizes for hand rolls, Big volume for sashimi, even the lunch combinations.... Fish's are so freshly and smell good!! Tasty and delicious are guaranteed.... One of the best sushi shop in the area!! Services are good enough n right on... could be more effective but the restaurant is so busy all the times..!! Simple n classic Japanese style small petite sushi shop designed...“
“Wow! What a wonderful experience! We had an early dinner on a Thursday evening to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. It was busy, but we were sat almost right away. The ambiance of the restaurant is the first thing that hit me. It was very dark, but in comforting way. It is a very small place. The server walked us through their choices and we were immediately served. We chose their silver level. The bone marrow and toast was crazy delicious. It was full of umami flavor. It was the perfect way to start off. We ordered the spicy miso and the house broth. Both were great. The spicy miso wasn't too spicy at the beginning, but rather rich and flavorful. It did build on the spice level when it became a bit more concentrated. The house was mild and light. These soups were refilled at appropriate times as well. The meats that were served with this were melt in your mouth amazing and only took a second to cook. The veggie platter that accompanied it was a nice assortment. They also had a serve your self rice/ condiment bar. It was very clean and had a great assortment of sauces. My favorite was mixing the sesame with a bit of soy sauce and spicy chilies. It also included eggs, rice and minced beef. We had three rounds of the amazing meat and finished up the veggies. We finished our meal with the green tea ice cream at the self serve station. It is a bit pricy, but worth every penny in my opinion. I can't wait to come back.Parking: Parking in the lot right in front of the restaurant was available for an early dinner on a Thursday. They also have parking around the back of the building as well.“
“Very excited to try this spot. The tasting menu was the perfect amount of food, I’m a little full but not stuffed. The food was fantastic - if you’re looking for drown your sushi in soy sauce and wasabi - this is not that. It is simply excellent fish - needing nothing more than a pinch of salt maybe (which they put on the plate - don’t let the other reviews fool you). The Monk’s “Chirashi-Sushi” small plate was one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth! Like spring in a bowl, every single bite was perfection. The glass of Muscat was a perfect pairing. The Rockfish & Mussels main was sooo good - get it. And if you go midweek there isn’t a crowd, the service was top notch.“
“4/5 stars (Vegetarian here for a plant-based/vegan review):We visited Suehiro Mini in Chinatown after the Chinatown Neighborhood Night Market hosted by CCEDLA in October, but I'm posting this review after learning that Suehiro's Little Tokyo location is facing eviction. Suehiro is a small family run restaurant chain with two generations of history, and the location in Chinatown has a smaller menu and storefront than its other locations. We were seated around 10:30 pm and the store wasn't too busy but it took us around 20 minutes to get our orders in and another 20 for the food to come out. Service is on the slower side so if you're on a time crunch definitely factor that in! There are four vegan options: vegan tomato ramen, vegan mapo don, vegan vegetable udon, and vegan yakisoba. I ordered the vegan tomato ramen. The broth was super thick and flavorful, and topped with fried and battered zucchini, tomato, and eggplants. While the portion sizes are quite large, the broth had a bit of a one note flavor and wasn't able to continue eating after I got through half. They have to-go containers so I was able to bring home the rest and it served as another meal. My friends ordered a Haiyashi Rice and Curry Rice and both really enjoyed their meal too. Their portions seemed even bigger, so if you have a small appetite I recommend sharing! Though service wasn't the quickest, we still enjoyed our meal, and I would love to return to try the other vegan options. If you're in the Chinatown area, try this ramen spot (as well as other small legacy businesses who are being pushed out by wealthier corporations that are actively working on gentrifying Chinatown).“
“If I could eat here everyday I would. These are my favorite types of sushi restaurants to go to. Simple but far from ordinary. No frills, no heavily sauced California rolls, or flashy items just great quality sushi made as traditional as possible. Everything (that I tried) was fresh.I’m so glad that I found this little gem on this side of town. I’m coming back ASAP to try the rest of the restaurant. If you’re looking for a place to try real sushi, I would definitely put this on your list.My favorites from my visit were the Live Sweet Shrimp (fried head), Uni, Toro, Salmon Belly, Yellowtail, Scallop handroll, and the salmon collar. Like I said, I’m coming back to eat the rest.“
“This restaurant is tucked away from the busy part of Little Tokyo. We walked in at 6:30pm on a Thursday and were seated immediately. We came here for the famous uni pasta and mentai japanese cream pasta. Both were creamy, rich, and filled with umami. The mentai japanese cream one was slightly more fishy than the uni one. Can we talk about the portion sizes? Each plate of pasta was huge! Great value for the price. All pastas come with complementary sad and bread. Save some of the bread to soak up all the pasta sauce!“
“My favorite sushi place. The quality of their fish is great. The chirashi bowls are very generous and have a lot of flavor. The service is always very attentive and polite.Parking: There is a shared parking garage behind but it’s often full. You can find street parking on the side streets nearby.“
“We had the last table in the back and the noise level was great! If you sit in the front you might get a bit higher noise level. Service was super friendly and checked in with us multiple times but not being annoying. The food is amazing! Haven't had fantastic Shusi in a long time! Price is absolutely reasonable for that quality of food. We been 2 patrons and paid $191 for so much food that we actually have been over eaten lol. We just couldn't stop. Only thing - it was cold not sure if other doors have been open somewhere but that was a bit uncomfortable but not dramatically.“
“Honestly, was amazed at how good the sushi / sashimi was at this place. Didn't expect it from a food hall. WAY better quality tasting food than a more legit mid-level sushi places. Highly recommend coming here just for this. We got another roll to go because it was so good.“
“This is straight food review based on having this delivered from Caviar/Doordash! I can't fairly rate the atmosphere and service here on Google. Even with an average wait of about ~45 minutes from order placement to delivery, the food was still warm and fresh feeling!I scarfed down the mushroom katsu sando, and their whole crispy and lightly fried portobello mushroom is meaty and satisfying. It really was quite a filling meal-sized sandwich on its own and the frisee, yuzu-kosho slaw, katsu sauce, and true star of the show: the honey milk bread made it a sandwich worthy of reviewing. I can't wait to go back and try the chicken katsu sando.I had some green tea to drink and the addictive wagyu curry cheese fries. The kewpie mayo and aonori elevate the seasoned fries.Their house sauce was addictive and I spread it on my sandwich and fries. It's spicy and deliciously subtly sweet, and they use gochujang, mayo, and citrus. I'll be back to scope out this place in person!Vegetarian options: Mushroom sando, shrimp sando, fruit and egg salad sandiches, too- and fries without the wagyu curry are sufficient and delicious vegetarian (although not vegan) options.“
“My gf and I come here for our anniversary every year and every year the food is PERFECT, the service is PERFECT, and the ambiance is PERFECT. Shojin is the BEST vegan sushi I have ever had. Everything about this place is absolutely incredible. We are happy customers every time we eat here. THANK YOU Shojin!“
“What great little discovery! My wife and I were exploring DTLA on a sleepy rainy Sunday and happened upon this great sushi restaurant off of Santa Fe Ave in Downtown LA. The sign from the street read, “Happy Hour 3-6pm daily!”We stopped in to get the Mrs some tasty sushi.Kombu Sushi was a cozy bright fantastic surprise!Great fresh fish, chill atmosphere, and excellent service! We were given seared yellowtail sushi as well as lynchee mochi ice cream. They were so nice.We will definitely be back soon!“
“The food is amazing, the place is clean, and the staff was nice and polite. They have a 1 and a half hour time limit, so don't be surprised when they try to kick you out. A bit too loud with people talking and the music, but if you enjoy those environments, go ahead. I enjoyed it.Parking: They have a parking lot with room for many cars so enjoy.Kid-friendliness: I saw a few toddlers and they gave them a high seat so I think kids can go there.“
“Katsu Jin has the best katsu outside of Japan. The tenderloin katsu is made with a think cut of pork and fried to perfection. I try to get here once a month even though it is 45 minutes from my house. The gyoza are also fantastic! Can't recommend this place enough.“
“I definitely loved it. The second time going, I will definitely be going more often. The food is always so good, I had the takoyaki, the crispy tuna rice cakes, the baked crawfish roll, and the scallop roll. I had their green jasmine hot tea, I can't wait to try some other dishes.“
“Always a quick stop for high quality food for a cheap price. Very friendly service and delicious and affordable options. A great choice for lunch or dinner on any night. My go-to is chicken teriyaki but Korean BBQ beef short ribs and Thai BBQ chicken are great options too.“
“I love this place so much. The food is great and always fresh. They have a large selection of beer and sake to choose from. You can't go wrong with any of the handrolls. I've tried all of them and they are all so so good. My favorites have to be the Yunomi special and spicy tuna tempura. I love the option of choosing from Korean seaweed or Japanese seaweed and if you want your fish spicy or no spicy. You must get the crispy rice albacore. I could eat 2 orders myself. I come here pretty often because they are consistent and always taste so yummy. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The overall ambiance is cool too, a little hipster because it's located in the arts district, and I love how it is a bar seating only. Solid 9.5/10, would give it a 10/10 but the wait is always so long!“
“We came here on a Tuesday night looking for a quick but savory meal. It was busy but there were some seats open. casual place. The food came out quite quickly, and as a whole it was very good. We got chicken kaarage, which was a good portion for its price. The accompanying spicy mayo was unexpectedly quite nice. boy got the blaze, which he really liked. I got the classic ramen, which was flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were cooked very well, and the broth warmed me nicely. I have came here before craving the tsukemen, and it is for the most part quite good but always ends up tasting very salty by the end. will probably still come back and order it again though.“
“So so glad I got around to trying this place out, the pastas are SO GOOD!! We tried the mentaiko and the squid ink pasta - the flavor profile for both was perfect and the noodles were cooked al dente! The portion size was just right too. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu“
“There are two reasons I would go back to this place. I saw it on Instagram, and I like to judge places for myself, so we went. The first reason I'd go back is they have an employee by the name of America, I told her it was our first time she introduced both beef and chicken teriyaki so we could taste both flavors and it was by far a great recommendation. Both had great flavor, so this place, I would say, is a good five-star. It's always wonderful when you find good tasting food but it's even better when you have staff that backs up the restaurant and gives you great customer service“
“We came here on a weekday evening at around 6pm and had no wait. They have only one option for dining at this Chubby Cattle location, which is an AYCE menu including Wagyu, pork, seafood, appetizers like Wagyu tartare and salmon carpaccio, rice, sushi and soup. For $65.99 (non-member price) per person, you definitely get what you pay for here!“
“Excellent food! A wonderful family run restaurant. My whole family goes crazy for their crab Rangoon and shrimp and veggie tempura. The golden shrimp dumpling curry is also amazing. They just expanded the menu, very excited to try more dishes. Have never been disappointed, and very friendly staff and owners!Vegetarian options: Lots of dishes can be made with tofu“
“Tensho occupies the former Kagaya location. While it offers the required A5 Wagyu cuts, their prime cuts are marbled and have a very tender consistency; plus an expanded seafood option for the hot pot. Unless you want to take a chance, reservations are highly recommended.“
“One of the jewels of dining in ELA. The food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant are incomparable. I love the bento boxes, and they are a great value. The customer service is excellent and par noneVegetarian options: There are good optionsParking: The plenty of itKid-friendliness: Family oriented place, but mainly the food is catered to an adult tasteWheelchair accessibility: Yes plenty of room for a wheelchair, and I frequently see persons with them“
“Came here for the first time and really enjoyed it. I didn't try any of the Peruvian dishes, but we tried the octopus sushi, grilled octopus, tiradito sampler, one of the specialty rolls and everything was nice. The dining area is clean and roomy, and the staff was nice.Definitely coming back again.“
“Good food. Really fresh. No pictures but the eel and rice bowl and ceviche rolls were super. Macaroon ice cream is super fresh, not too hard. If you’re in the area you know the area. lol. Street walkers around. Vividly. But the food and service is good. Whether you like the view or not it’s there??food price are reasonable. Portions are big.“
“Always good, thin rice surrounding the roll is a good sign of a good sushi roll, fish always fresh and melts in your mouth...I'm a big Wasabi user and they provided two different types for me to try, the lumpy almost salsa looking kind was so good, just spread on roll and eat, the other was what you'd normally find... it was good.Parking: Plenty right in front, never had a problem finding a spot“
