Everyone loved the wine selection (wine flight being the most popular) and the food was also delicious. “Lunchtime before a performance at nearby Zellerbach Hall turned up a hidden gem in Julia's. The ratatouille, which I am a big fan of and therefore picky about, was seasoned traditionally, the ingredients and consistency were all true to the classic version. I was more than satisfied. The gluten free chickpea panisses (a tower of 3 round chickpea "fries") were a delightful and delicious first, so scrumptious in fact that I quickly found a recipe to make these popular South of France favorites at home. Creme brulee with a generous crust of caramelized sugar topping a creamy custard, another classic and favorite of mine was shamelessly gobbled with gusto with no manners whatsoever. The table service from Natalie was cheerful, discreet and attentive on the Saturday we visited. The ambiance was refined, the dining area dominated by a large framed mirror and carved ceiling. One star is missing from what could have been five due to the rather cool reception from the seating hostess. We found her a tad haughty. We will return undaunted, however. What a special discovery and worth the trip across the bay from Marin.“

“What an incredible find! By all rights this should be a Michelin 1 star restaurant. Funky, vegetable forward and friendly like AL's Place (RIP) or Cafe Olli in Portland. The cocktails were dialed-in and delicious - nothing too sweet. The dishes were symphonies of both known and surprising flavors. Was that pickled cucumber noodles under the crab salad? I don't know, but I know it was delicious! Is that fish sauce in the beef tartare? Yes or no, it's incredible!The criticism I see online of this place is that the dishes are small - they aren't, for the quality. We were more than full with four dishes between two people, which in a regular restaurant would be 2 apps and 2 entrees. That's entirely reasonable! MY only criticism is that I wish there were more dishes served heated. The Fregola was so comforting - it needs some friends!If you have a last-minute date night, this is on a very short list of excellent options. Don't miss it!“

“Suzette Crepe Cafe is a great place to grab a coffee and get some work done. I stopped by on a Tuesday morning and there were plenty of tables to sit at. I like that there are a number of power outlets situated on the bench seating as well -- perfect for long work session. Though I did not try any of the food, the staff was nice, the atmosphere was quiet enough to focus, and Wi-Fi was fast (note: if you have either T-Mobile or AT&T as your cell phone carrier, you will not have great service in this area, so definitely connect to the Wi-Fi over trying to tether).“
“Such a great experience! Bar Crenn feels like a speakeasy when you walk in - the decor, bar setup and retro record player make it seem like an oasis. Onto the food: my favorite dish was their Bafun Uni dish which is a congee topped with Hokkaido uni. It's not often that Uni is served on a hot dish and the blend of flavors/cuisines Chef Crenn executes in this dish are super intriguing. I also got their oysters served 3 ways and the XO Scallops. The staff here is excellent. Carlos and Chris were really welcoming. Chris even showed me around Atelier Crenn next door. I'll definitely have to come back for their tasting. Thank again!“
“I stopped by on a Monday afternoon, and was the only customer in the store. I love that they charge $5.50 for a chicken banh mi. It seems like all the other banh mi places in the Bay Area charge outrageously for $10+, and this is one of the last few decently-priced banh mi places. The ladies working here are really nice old ladies. They even asked me if I want jalapeño in my sandwich, and left me alone to eat in peace when I sat at one of the tables enjoying my fresh and crispy banh mi sandwich.“
“For the Latin community: This place is 10 out of 10, super delicious, the price is right, the staff is Latin, friendly and speaks Spanish, their crepes are delicious, I ordered one with banana and strawberries with dulce de leche, I ordered another with ham and egg and cheddar cheese, and the third was strawberry, banana, nutella and walnut 100% percent recommended!! You arrive, order and pay then they call you when your order is ready, you pick it up and that's it, enjoy!!“

Friendly French waiter but other waiters checked on me as well was very patient with my indecisiveness I had that morning with what I wanted to eat made suggestions and answered questions as well. We went to the stall at the Lake Merritt Farmers Market on Saturdays. We went around 1pm so many items were out but what we got was fresh.“
