“It was raining when we visited so they set us up on the porch of the main building, which I LOVED. They had the heaters going and offered a cozy blanket. We were allowed to walk literally anywhere we wanted which was such a cool experience to see the bottling process and the cellar. All wines were delish and the staff was so friendly and attentive, especially Angela and Jeff(?). Would recommend!“

“I've been to Staglin three times and it is truly one of the special properties and families in Napa Valley. Everything there is top notch, including of course the wines. They have a lot on their plate and a small team, so plan your visit there as far in advance as possible!“

“During our visit, we had the pleasure of experiencing the beautiful surroundings of this Napa Valley winery. The outdoor area resembled a peaceful garden, featuring charming sculptures and a stylish building with an old charm. The entrance, adorned with a unique arch, led us to a souvenir shop offering a variety of items, including wines and scented candles, from which we purchased some delightful gifts.

“Do yourself a favor and splurge - enjoy the Estate Library Tasting. The library is an amazing setting to enjoy these wines and the accompaniments that go with them. And while Frances name might not be on the building, his collection of books and art adorn the walls of this Franco pavilion. The wines were extortionary and as expected the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.“

“Reserve a La Tour Tasting and take your time tasting the many fine wines offered. Listen to the story on each offering but don’t detach from listening with intention to your own palate noting which is most agreeable. Because it’s very subjective. I’ve a few favorites like the cab franc for everyday wine and casual gatherings. Then I have the George De La Tour for very special occasions. And last but not least, the Maestro cabs for those in between special moments that’s deserving of a tighter and lengthier backbone. There are others that I like from the reserve collection but these have been my go to.“

Did wine tastings in Napa at three wineries this trip. RH’s winery’s selections were glorious. Mumm’s were good. Chateau Montelena’s were a disappointing-emperor’s-new-clothes-waste-of-time; I guess they’re still coasting on the movie “Bottle Shock”’s (2008) inaccurate portrayal of the Valley’s nascent entry to the world Chardonnay market.
