“My new favorite spot! I love coming here during the day when it’s quiet to read a book or catch up with a friend. The staff are really kind and always make the best recommendations. They’re knowledgeable but not pretentious at all which is really refreshing. The wine itself is really good and reasonably priced, they have a couple more expensive options but I usually order the $13 sparkling rose and it’s everything you want a sparkling rose to be.“

“My daughter took me and the hubby here for our Thanksgiving celebration since she couldn't come home (Sac) for actual Thanksgiving, we went to her. This was a night I won't soon forget! Having a nice meal with our daughter was a treat, the service was amazing and the food....OMG! Every bite of every dish I tasted was so so delicious! I can't get the butternut soup out of my head it was THAT good! We all ordered different food & shared bites with one another. This night was so enjoyable! Thank you, Sis & Thank you Mama Oakland!“

“Walk 10 minutes from MacArthur BART and you’ll find paradise in the form of a wine bar. Zach (head chef) and Emilio (line cook) are formerly of Verjus in San Francisco, and let’s just say we followed them across the bridge for a reason. Their expertise and attention to detail are evident in every bite — or sip! ;) On top of this, the service is impeccable. Our waiter, Nico, was a real gem! Thank God he moved from SoCal! Anyways, don’t take my word for it… you’ll just have to try this place for yourself!“

Henry is a wine expert who's always thinking of how to enhance the space, elevate the experience and refine the selection of wines he serves. His focus on finding the best small batch wines from California (Alta and Baja!) is laser-sharp and is matched only by his focus on finding new, meaningful, fun ways to bring in new customers and regulars alike.
Henry and the whole team are so welcoming to everyone who comes in the door. My partner, my dog and I always feel at home when we stop by.

“This is a lovely little wine bar! Excellent selection, and the owner was kind enough to put together a little charcuterie board for one person (although the normal size serves 2-3).
I highly recommend stopping by for a glass and a nibble if you’re shopping in the area - very relaxing space.“

“This is the best natural wine bar in Oakland and a neighborhood staple. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The wine selection is consistently amazing, both in terms of bottles and rotating menu items. There are also frequent food pop ups in their kitchen in addition to their regular menu.“

“1) Wine was so good and service was excellent. They are so nice here and passionate about their craft!2) If you buy a two bottles then a tasting flight is free. Would recommended starting with a flight and using that to pick which bottles to get.3) After we bought two bottles, we decided to cork one on the spot, and they waived the corking fee, very kindly of them.Thanks for a great experience!“

“Lunched here several times - offerings are light, tasty, and healthy. Coffee drinks are solid. Pretty space with ample seating, good for meetups or solo dining. Moderate noise on the quieter side. A separate communal table area where kids / families gravitate makes it kidfriendly. Largely self-service.“

“My wife and I host many events there, for singles and everybody else to mingle! Popcorn Machine in the corner of the bar is a nice touch. The place is just a stones throw from UC Berkely but it has a chill cocktail lounge asthetic. Also it is pet friendly! Bring the frenchie and enjoy a drink with some popcorn!“
“The vibe is amazing. The bartenders are amazing. They are super friendly and great conversationalists. I really enjoyed their Delirium Red beer from Japan. I would recommend this bar to anyone looking for a laid back place with great ambiance.“

“i come here often to study with some friends and the workers are always lovely. the place itself is beautifully decorated and truly welcoming. despite it being always busy i somehow always also find a seat, and i somehow also always run into friends. it is a community hub.
this all being said, the coffee is also delicious. there’s a variety of options for food that i have not yet tried, but i have very strong feelings about spending money on coffee that tastes worse than the one i can make at home and i keep returning and spending my money. i have no regrets.“

“😀First visit here after years of walking past it. The veggie combo and meat combo platters were among the best I've had at Berkeley and Oakland's many great Ethiopian restaurants. Service was very fast and friendly and outdoor back-patio was peaceful. I will be back soon and often.“

“Delicious oysters are available for $1.00 ea with the purchase of a bottom of wine or champagne. Good burgers, good vibes,friendly staff, and relatively easy street parking; there is also a parking garage nearby. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars for atmosphere is that it has high ceilings, and probably would have been loud if it were crowded.“

“I discovered this great gem of a bar during the final Hayward B street block party of the season! The owner was very friendly & the bar tender was amazing! She was working so hard because it was super busy. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken wings & they were the best I'd ever had. YUM!! They took awhile to come but as I said they were super busy at the time, but they were well worth the wait. Come on down to Blue Crown Bar & Bistro!!“
“It’s located inside the Claremont Resort & Center. It’s a small cozy spot on the ground floor of the building. The entry door is next to the building stair. The food is kind of expensive but quality is OK.
I think this place is for the people who live here or after they finish playing sports. You have to go thru the gate in order to park. The closest street parking nearby is on Domingo Ave.“

The staff was friendly, quick, and accommodating and the food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè to those looking for a quick and yummy lunch (or breakfast/brunch everyday), to snack and study, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Don’t miss out on the great happy hour/aperativo deals between 4-7PM! It almost goes without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true to its slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From the food and drink to the atmosphere and the service, this is the only truly Italian café I have found in Berkeley! And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy! Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè—not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART—I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty—I cannot recommend it highly enough! For your time, money, and fine Italian bites and drinks, I cannot recommend a Berkeley café more highly than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon—you won’t be disappointed!“
