“MAN, OMG! This is our NEW order-from/hangout place. NOT ONLY is the owner VERY FRIENDLY, KIND & HELPFUL but the FOOD is EXCELLENT (KUDOS to the Kitchen Chef whom customers often NEGLECT/FORGET about congratulating/commending in PERSON!). VERY VERY EXCELLENT (TOP NOTCH!) tuna sandwich! This place KNOWS what they're doing!!! And, NOT too many places know HOW to make a GREAT-TASTING tuna salad! Many either put TOO much mayonnaise or make it TOO dry. Places also tend sometimes to use brand/suppliers of tuna which tastes TOO FISHY!!! However, NOT SO AT ALL here, at Jebena Cafe! Their (female) cook makes a REAL "BOMB" (THE Bomb!) of a tuna sandwiches we've tasted in a LONG time (&, TRUST us! We've tasted tuna sandwiches in MANY-a-PLACES before!). This place makes one of the BEST ! NOT too salty; NOT too creamy; BOT too dry! JUST well-balanced good-fish taste with very FRESH & CRUNCHY lettuce & JUST RIGHT, well-toasted slices of bread!!! This sandwich ALWAYS gets even a HIGHER-MARKUP/"upgrade" when you ADD their SLICED HARD-BOILED egg to it!!! Their avocado toast is ALSO WONDERFUL-highly recommended (we always order BOTH the TUNA but ALSO, the AVOCADO toast & combine them, eating one half of each then, are left with the 2 other halves to go/for later (except that one must remember that avocado tends to darken if/when not eaten fresh)!!! Finally, their MOCHA & LATTE are great!!!“
“I would highly recommend the black sesame with coconut filling birthday cake. It is so yummy and not sweet. Great and friendly customer service. I have ordered the same birthday cake two months in a row. This will be my Go To place for getting birthday cakes. Please support our local restaurants.“
“Found this brand new little gem Cafe Cordoba in Oakland today. I'm a lifelong restaurant owner which makes it hard to please me. This place is amazing. Family owned and operated. I had the big tacos with carne asada. They were absolutely sell. I'll be back time and time again. We need more small business owners like this one. Bravo!“
“This wonderful place is my other office. It's cute and cozy, has strong wifi, the staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious. It's not cheap, but they use lots of fresh, healthy ingredients and it's beautifully presented. I've recently had the winter lentil salad, the French grilled cheese, and the tomato bisque. Yum.“
“Romo Cafe is a bright shiny star in our Fairfax neighborhood. Mexican coffee is delicious and pairs well with oatmeal cookies. They have an excellent and diverse menu serving breakfast items like their Chia bowl and great lunch selections of salads and sandwiches.Parking: Usually parking within a blockKid-friendliness: Very kid-friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Downstairs is wheelchair accessible.“
“This is a very nice and convenient cafe to go to at Centerville Train Station. They serve American and Filipino food here. This is actually my second time coming here and noticed that they have Lamb Tocino, which is quite unheard and probably rarely eaten. The wait was long because there are some issues in the kitchen, but I’ll let that slide. The staff are friendly when people got here and are apologetic due to problems at the backend.I also like how the place is decorated trying to match the theme of trains and other transportations. It is small for a dining area, but it’s worth relaxing and coming here.“
“Cute lil place I met up with friend for a lil brunch and chit chat. Very small inside however, outside has a lovely covered area for big groups and just a few people. Avocados on my toast were picked perfectly!Vegetarian options: I saw a few optionsParking: Their lot is small however, just around the corner is a neighborhood with street parking.“
“I absolutely love this place and their ice cream! I was looking for some koolfi in the Bay and stumbled across Koolfi Creamery, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Their Bombay Butterscotch flavor is my favorite, but every flavor I’ve tried has been amazing. Highly recommended.“
“Excellent food, excellent customer service. The veggie panini was full of perfectly cooked, flavorful veggies like eggplant & zucchini. Pesto is delicious. My partner loved his meatball sandwich, and the owner brought him generous tastes of pulled pork and bacon. Can’t believe it took us so long to try this spot. We’ll be back soon!“
“Best chai in the area, delicious well seasoned food and the nicest people. The owners are really sweet and nice to talk too, you can tell they put their heart into it. The outdoor patio is cute and comfortable. This place is the best. You gotta to try it! Much love ?❣️Vegetarian options: Good dishes that are traditionally vegetarian so they taste rightDietary restrictions: lots of vegetarian and vegan options, non-dairy lactose free drinks, caffeine free drinksParking: easy parkingKid-friendliness: always see kids at this placeWheelchair accessibility: curb cut and single story, lots of space to move around“
“Rumi is as good as it gets around here. Coffees are great and the food is great. My family lives coming here too. I brought my cousins here and they loved it as well. My kids love the smoothies. Smaller place, but all of the patrons are deep in their converatiin and enjoying their time at Cafe Rumi. I hope to come here for years to come.“
“My first Kava experience didn’t disappoint! Upon learning this was my first time trying Kava, the barista offered us a ceremony to try it first and explained the origin and types of Kava to me.Tried the Colada and warm special Kava. Def a fun experience that’s quintessential Berkeley / Oakland. Check them out if you are in the area.“
“I attended a celebration for the volunteers at the “white elephant sale”.Champagne and small bites were carefully displayed. I want to experience more. Atmosphere and food delights.Vegetarian options: Salads, sandwiches, desertsDietary restrictions: Vegetarian, fish, deserts were to die for. Plenty of helpful and polite service. Layout was spaced comfortably and lines went fast.Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of beautiful garden space and options for seating at different levels“
“I am so grateful for the food and love that I am experiencing today.Vegetarian options: I saw others order some amazing things, and the coffee and scones were great, fresh, and delicious ( not bland and hard).Kid-friendliness: There is outdoor seating that overlook the boats and the view is soothing ? ✨️“
“I was getting over a cold and needed some chicken soup. This hit the spot 10000%. Their ginger scallion sauce is amazing. I prefer to get the boneless chicken and the regular size is plenty for a typical appetite. Cash only! Street parking can be a little tricky at times, but I've always found a spot within 5-10 min.“
“Xochi is my go-to neighborhood spot, but I'd come by even if I didn't live in the neighborhood! The staff is wonderful, and the community is warm and welcoming, and there's always lots of cute dogs around. Come for the empanadas, pastries, warm beverages, and lovely courtyard.“
“Best coffee shop to spend time at in the Castro Valley/Hayward area. The coffee is good, and the staff is always friendly. However, the best thing about this place is how much space they have for sitting down and spending time there. It's the perfect place to work or study from. The Internet is quite fast, and there's plenty of plugs. The tables and chairs are comfortable, and in general it is quiet. It's in a church, but it's very welcoming to everyone. Nobody ever tried to "convert" me in 3 years. The only negative point is the price, what they have been increasing lately. At this point I'm paying more than $7 for a mocha. Also the food options are very limited apart from pastries. Plan to bring you lunch if you're gonna spend the day there“
“You know that saying..."sometimes, the thing you're looking for is right in front of you"..?I have been searching for the "perfect" breakfast burrito forever.I finally found it...walking distance from my house. LolBacon, egg, cheese with avo. I had mine w/o potatoes. Side of salsa.Large enough to split.“
“THIS IS THE SPOT!!!!FOOD POPPINSERVICE EXCEPTIONALATMOSPHERE BEAUTIFUL&....the fact that the owner had the employees backs during the pandemic, didnt miss a beat! Is a reason to patronize as well? & you will leave better than you came☺Vegetarian options: Veggie OmeletteKid-friendliness: Kids menu does not shortchange kids in getting their filling as wellWheelchair accessibility: One floor, no stairs in resturant“
“Their Chole bhature are the best in the whole Bay Area. Try it once and you can tell the difference. I have ordered it many times and will continue to do so but I have tried their other food items which were just ok. Their naans needs improvement. Not sure what happened but when I took them home and tried to eat them, they were basically stretchy and unchewable. I hope they fix this problem. When eaten in the store, they are very good.“
“I don’t often leave reviews, but the croissant is so outstanding I can’t help myself. A good bakery should do the basics well, and their croissant is light and fluffy on the inside, and flaky and crisp on the outside. Bravo, Firebrand!“
“My barefoot running meetup meets there most Sunday mornings, so if you see people hanging out there on Sunday morning not wearing any shoes, that is why!The food is a combination of Ethiopian and Ethiopian-ish dishes. It's decent breakfast fare.Pro tip: The owner Sara works there herself most of the time and she doesn't like it when people come in just to use the bathroom. If you just want a place to poop, there is a nice public toilet at the children's playground across the street.“
“I really love the hot caramel francis latte it's so freakin good. Also love the fact it's so close, dont have to drive hella far plus it's so tiny and charming, like to sit for a moment in front of the little window and wait for my perfect cup.“
“This is not the place to come with a laptop or friends and chill. The table layout should make that obvious before you enter. It is a place to taste coffee.A good thing to get is the Espresso Flight (pictured): for $11, it's a great taste journey.I usually go to cafes to work on stuff, and therefore this is not a place I will be visiting regularly, but I highly recommend it if you are searching for a coffee experience. Great staff, great space, great coffee.“
“My daughter's preschool was on Park St, which made it easy to pick up breakfast at Highwire on the walk back after dropping her off. Now that she's in kindergarten I don't have the easy excuse to drop by as often, but still try to make it when I can. Even with coming by much less frequently the staff still remember my name, which I find amazing given how bad I am at names, and the service is always friendly and prompt even when they're busy. I especially like the seasonal drinks, and my daughter loves the apple juice. My go-to is usually one of the seasonal drinks and a bagel and cream cheese or these muffins they have that have an egg inside (did I mention I'm bad with names?).“
“An in and out situation. A guy who works there is super cool. The drinks are awkward great. Been going to multiple locations for years. Glad to see this location. No cash location due to robbery. Small batch of pastries. Quality of coffee better than Starbucks. The space is tight inside but worth the stop. The Candied Yam drinks are great!“
“Cafe 86 opened a location in Norcal, specializing in ube desserts and drinks. I usually order an upside down halo halo to share with friends. Delicious with traditional and modern toppings like ice cream, frosted flakes, and boba, it's a nice treat to share with others (or eat it by yourself to satisfy a sweet tooth). Seating is limited in the cafe. Would recommend if you're in the area.“
“Was in the neighborhood & got hungry. Was heading 2 Sonic's & Seen Amy's grill & decided 2 give it a try. I ordered a breakfast sausage sandwich & blueberry waffles. I just finished the food now & it was great! ? would def recommend & will be back again! Thank you! #HazyJavi on all music apps!“
“What can you say, typical coffee shop, excellent food, good prices.Kid-friendliness: Great kids options. French toast is superb.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat low sidewalk, easy for wheelchairs. A little tight, but doable. Sundays are busy.“
“I cannot express how much I love a dedicated gluten free facility. It makes it so easy for my celiac husband to find tasty treats and drinks. The desserts, particularly the cookies and cupcakes are so good you would never know the difference between non-gluten free items (I say this as someone who eats non gluten free items all the time). We love the desserts so much we ordered our wedding cake from here and it turned out beautifully! We could not recommend this place enough. It's a little pricey but that's to be expected with the pricer ingredients and in being in an expensive area.“
“Great drip coffee! I wish I had asked what beans they used. My stomach is sensitive so I don’t drink coffee often but this 12 oz drip I got was so flavorful! Also some very tasty pastries, my friend and I got the caramelized onion and mushroom croissant and I definitely want to try the guava one the next time I go. Friendly service and a cute neighborhood spot. Not really a sit down space, but they do have outdoor seating for people to use while they wait or if it’s just two of you. Great place to grab coffee and a bite and then take a little walk by the lake.“
“Fresh donuts, hot brekkie sandwiches, coffee, juices and even boba sold here. If you're in a hurry and want a hot breakfast sandwich, call it in. When i go in to order it usually takes them 10 minutes to make, maybe 8. Great service always. It's family owned, so go support them. They have reasonable prices.“
“Some interesting options for food and drink at this cafe. Chaga chai latte anyone?Good location in busy commercial district on MacArthur. Parking may be a little bit tricky.Overall, the place is a little bit dark, reminds me of a regular pub open during daylight hours ? Good amount of seating with Wi-Fi and power.“
“We are not from the area and the hotel we stayed at didn’t have breakfast or coffee.. I looked up breakfast near me and this place popped up. We decided to try it. Everything seems very reasonably priced. My husband had the Lox bagel and said it was amazing. And I ordered an iced white mocha and I have to say I think it’s better than Starbucks! I wish we had one of these back where I’m from I’d be here almost everyday if I could!“
“Nice spot, nice music, really good oat latte. Not the same food selection as pre Covid ( no breakfast toasts) but nice pastries. I entered wedged between 12 fire fighters and was surprised to get my latte in about 2 mins. Only two workers, very efficient. Still found a place to “
“A very interesting mix between a home goods / clothing boutique and a cafe. I felt like I was having tea inside an Anthropology Home catalogue. Which wasn’t a bad thing! I had a Thai Tea while chatting with a friend on their long couch. Their cafe has limited options, but every milk/milk alternative you could hope for. It was empty when we visited and served as a lovely place to catch up with someone or browse.“
“Renegade Coffee by Devout Coffee has eclectic atmosphere, quality coffee, and friendly staff. It offers a unique blend of specialty coffee drinks and a cozy space for patrons to relax or work. I am impressed with their creative menu options and the attention to detail in each cup. The vibe is welcoming and laid-back, making it a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. I highly recommend this place for great coffee and experience.Parking: Parking is available in the nearby parking lot.“
“Excellent service all around, starting with prompt responses to my questions over text message, to a warm welcome when we arrived and attentive service from all the staff throughout our dining experience. All the dishes we ordered were amazing; from the raw and grilled oysters, salads, to the sandwiches/entrees and hand crafted cocktails/drinks, everything was delicious. What a gem in this neighborhood! Definitely recommend, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. We had such a great time for my birthday.“
“This spot was a place I went to every morning with my dad when I was in elementary school and it was so nostalgic stepping back in here still seeing OG's hanging out there drinking Vietnamese coffee. Simon took this place and leveled up the food, which I had high expectations for. He is so hospitable and made great conversation with me. I'm inspired by his motivation and drive to constantly better himself and his business.I was finally in town and had time to stop by for the first time to buy banh mi for my mom. I got her the banh mi xiu mai and when she ate it, she told me it was good. MY MOM ALMOST NEVER LIKES ANYTHING!! I tried some and y'all!!! She was right! If you're reading this, TRY THE BANH MI XIU MAI TODAY! I can't wait to come back again soon! Good job Simon, I'm so proud of you!“
“The place is operated by the owner it seems. We had a Cappuccino and Machiatto, a California Breakfast Sandwich and a Lemon Bar. All was good and fresh! Service was also fast! We spent $20.I just wish the place had some music or something to make it more appealing. Inside it has two (or 3) small tables with two chairs and some stools by the window.Nice selection of juices, coffees and sandwiches.“
“The owner's vibes is infectious and bright. I can see people wanting to come in just to get a piece of that energy radiating off. I ordered an ice mocha and slice of pound cake. I don't usually even eat breakfast. All the customers were very polite and neighborly. A very local business vibe in this big city. Coffee and cake were good! Note..sizes are medium, large, and extra large. There's also an abundance of candies and treats, baklava, bagels, pastries...“
“I've been going to Aroma Cafe since when I worked in the area in 2008. It's family owned and run, and they have a deli with a wife range of sandwiches, as well as baked goods.I think their cookies are best value in the city if not the bay area. Cookies are $2 each, less if you get them in bulk. Amongst bakeries, it's hard to find ones at $2 each. There's a variety of different flavors, my favorite are snickerdoodle, chocolate chocolate, white chocolate macademia, etc.Their sandwiches are really good too. They bake some of their own bread, like their rolls, and they toast their sandwiches. I've really enjoyed their pastrami with cheese sandwich, and their #4 Tuna Sandwich.I'm really glad they made it through COVID and are still a great breakfast/lunch spot in Oakland.“
“Hornitos are very good but outside the restaurant there is a woman who sells tamales and the other day I went to buy tamales and pupusas and I told the woman to give me salsa and curtido because that's what pupusas carry and first she told me they were $18:00 dollars and once I was there and I asked the woman to give me what the pupusas contain, she charged me $3:00 dollars more because I had asked for the sauce and curtido, but at no time did she tell me that she was going to charge me extra until that he had already put them in the bag ?️ and he told me that everywhere they were already charging me separately for everything and I told him that that was not true because I buy pupusas in several places and that nowhere did they charge me extra because that is with what goes with that meal.“
“My second time eating here and it was just as great as the first. I work nearby and it's easily accessible by walking and also plenty of parking along E. 14th st.Today I ordered the BLT. Normally I would get the egg salad, but I saw they use cream cheese in the BLT and I had to try it. The sandwich overall was great, but the cream cheese really gave it a nice, creamy, cheesy texture which I enjoyed. The sandwich came to about $12 or so and was well worth it.They also have a few tables inside and it seems busy in the afternoon. If you're not a fan of cream cheese, i'd suggest the egg salad here, its awesome too!Wheelchair accessibility: There is ample room for a wheelchair to both enter and seat at a table.“
“This place isn't the same anymore. Not like it was when I first started coming here. I've recently have given this place more tries but I believe the same staff that are always working there including the owners are exhausted with the business. You don't feel the effort in the their energy anymore. The food isn't consistent and if you try to ask for your order to get fixed, the cooks just get bothered by it. No longer recommend this place its become sad to visit.“
“David and Lake Chabot are phenomenal! 1000% recommend. Took my ailing father out on a pontoon ride to celebrate his birthday, from parking to renting, and docking. Felt very taken care of and grateful for the kindness and patience. Definitely will be back!“
“Great food plus they're great with substitutions plus nice sized portions. Love back patio plus lots of greenery. Nice atmosphere. Staff is great as well.Dietary restrictions: Very good with dietary restrictionsKid-friendliness: Good with kidsWheelchair accessibility: Yes, definitely“
“This place is great, they got nice coffee and really good empanadas, The staff is friendly and service is fast. A must try if you are in the area. They offer non-dairy alternatives for your drinks. Parking can be challenging, but that's almost expected since it's next to trader Joe's.“
“The Lorraine's cafe food truck was at my work today and I have to say it's the BEST fried chicken I've ever eaten. The breading was crispy, loaded with spices and flavor, but layered on thicker than the substantial hunk of meat which was perfectly cooked to juicy, mouth watering perfection. I may have to track this food truck down again!“
“Hidden Gem Cafe! Cozy, great coffee, welcoming, swing chairs!, absolutely delicious food and drinks. Comforting in every way. The staff sincerely cares and they offer creative new drinks and food on a regular basis. Horchata latte, anyone?Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome and will enjoy the fun food and cozy seating options.“
