“I've been visiting this hidden gem for over a decade, and I can confidently say that their bánh mì remains some of the best I’ve ever had in Chinatown! The #1 option with cold cuts and Vietnamese-style meatloaf is incredibly flavorful. I might be mistaken, but I detect a lovely smoky note that elevates the entire sandwich.
The bread is truly exceptional—fresh, soft on the inside, and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It’s the ideal baguette to complement the vibrant fillings. Every bite is a delightful mix of textures and flavors that keeps me coming back for more. If you’re in the area, you have to give this place a try!“

“Focaccia bread was freshly made and warm, and the greens of the salad also very fresh and crisp. The portobello mushroom in the mushroom sandwich was very flavorful. My only reservation is the sun dried tomato spread instead of actual sun dried tomatoes. Very healthy plant based choices.“

“You will never get a sub quite as lovely as these. I don’t know why they’re so good, maybe fresh bread and fresh ingredients IDK but Turkey extra chili is my fave!! Mom loves Milanesa and the fried sides are YUMM too! I learned how to make my voice heard at the old little market. The big construction men at lunch time would be shouting out their orders. I was 11 years old and had to shout my order too!! Been a patron since 1982!!“

“Retro corner shop serving sandwiches, burgers, and other hot food.
----------
Wet Fries with Gravy
Grade: A-
I don't know what kind of stock they use for the gravy but the flavor is phenomenal. A little on the salty side but not too bad when you spread it out over the fries. The portion size is also massive
----------
Pastrami Dip
Grade: C-
The smokiness of the pastrami is good but it is really salty. I don't know if it's the pastrami itself or the au jus but the salt overpowers the rest of the flavor.“

“This spot is a hidden gem for Vietnamese sandwiches. The BBQ pork sandwich is a must-try, bursting with flavor. Every item on the menu is authentic and delicious, making it my go-to spot. I recommend starting with the BBQ pork and exploring the rest. The quality is consistently excellent, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal. I always call ahead for a quick pick up. Parking lot gets crowded but never had an issue.“

“Pane Bianco in ROW DTLA is a hidden gem for artisanal sandwiches and Italian-inspired bites. The bread, baked fresh in-house, is the star of the show—crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Their sandwiches, filled with quality ingredients like fresh mozzarella, cured meats, and vibrant vegetables, are simple yet bursting with flavor. The casual, laid-back vibe makes it a perfect spot for a quick lunch or takeout. While the menu is focused mainly on sandwiches, the quality of the ingredients and attention to detail make each bite memorable. It’s reasonably priced, considering the craftsmanship and freshness of the food.“

“Not as good as the Slausan location but still a great option for the DTLA area. They gave me the wrong order and I didn't feel like making it a thing so I just ate it even though it wasn't what I wanted. I felt like the lady behind the counter would have made a big deal out of it so I just ate it.“

“Absolutely amazing! I was in town for work, and looking for some good food. Their food is made with natural ingredients and tastes amazing! The people are friendly and helpful. The bread in their sandwiches and subs is made by a non supplier bakery, so it tastes fresh and amazing, unlike chain pizza places! Would definitely recommend!“

“The Hat isn't just a restaurant—it's a part of my personal history. I grew up eating here, and during my college years, it became my go-to late-night spot. There's something about walking up to The Hat, smelling that unmistakable aroma of sizzling pastrami, and knowing you're about to dig into something unforgettable.
Their pastrami is simply the best—no exaggeration. Piled high, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of fat to melt in your mouth. The sandwich is served hot, with that signature mustard and pickles that cut through the richness just right. Whether it's the classic pastrami sandwich, chili cheese fries loaded with pastrami, or even the pastrami burger, it's always satisfying.
And it wouldn’t be a visit to The Hat without an Orange Bang to wash it all down. That icy, creamy orange drink pairs perfectly with the savory flavors of the meal—it's nostalgic and refreshing all at once. If you know, you know.
The portions here are generous, easily shareable (if you're feeling kind), and always freshly made. I’ve taken friends and family here over the years, and everyone always walks away impressed—and full.
One of the things I love most is that they stay open late, which made them a lifesaver during long study nights and post-hangout food runs in college. You could always count on The Hat to deliver a consistently great experience, no matter the hour.
This place has stood the test of time for good reason. It’s not flashy or trendy—it’s just damn good food, served with consistency and heart. The Hat will always hold a special place in my memories and continues to earn my loyalty with every visit.“

“A huge pastrami on rye, hit the spot!
Back for a pastrami dip and an orange blast, wow. This is a must visit whenever I'm in town!
The place is a real blast from the past, they don't do it like this much any more. I want to try some other sandwiches but I can't pass up that pastrami!!!“

“Cool place for boba drinks. They make them promptly and the price is clearly posted. $5 for a Thai tea with boba includes taxes. We ordered six drinks and received them promptly. There is a sitting area to enjoy your drinks too.
A cup of Thai tea with boba and ice tastes great on a hot day.

“To the IKE’s Sandwiches team in Monrovia,
I wanted to share my fantastic experience during my first visit to your location. Kaylee went above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service. She took the time to explain each menu item, shared the heart and meaning behind the sandwich names, and made the entire experience enjoyable even before I tasted the sandwich! Her passion and care truly stood out.
Thanks to Kaylee, I’ll definitely be back, and I’m excited to try more from your menu. She deserves a huge shoutout and a raise for her incredible dedication and the way she represents IKE’s so well.
Thank you for such an awesome introduction to Ike’s.“

“This is one of those local gem mom and pop restaurants that everyone loves. Great sandwiches, great onion rings and good prices. The restaurant itself it a little dated and the owners say very little, but the food speaks for itself. I've been coming here since I was a kid and will continue coming until I no longer can.
Parking: Free parking but limited parking spaces.“

“I remember getting some pretty good bánh mì to take on a flight several years ago, but didn’t know from which establishment. I came here today and it felt very familiar. I’m pretty certain this was the place.
We took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free deal for the round bread bánh mì. We had the Saigon special, grilled pork and grilled beef. We actually asked for the meatball bánh mì, but they got our order wrong and gave us the grilled beef instead, which we didn’t realise until we got home. However, the sandwiches were still tasty; the meat was well seasoned and the bread had enough bite without being tough.
A decent place if you fancy some bánh mì. Takeout only.“

“I love Donut Factory, super close to my friend's house and really long hours, so we always get breakfast or Super late night food here. Baked goods and their sandwich menu are great, but what's really the best is their drink selection, my favorite is the ube shake! The staff are always super nice too, it's always a delight when they throw in a couple extra donut holes 🥰“

“Nice, that Tomato Soup is exactly what a few of the Top restaurants in the country use. Highly addictive! I rate it a 9 out of 10. I travel a lot and I’m coming back. Everything was great, I just had to tell the tomato soup chasers about this… Hang onto this recipe Dave, very good. Over all this place is a Hidden Secret.“

“Today 1/24/25. The service is good, but takes a while to get your order since they are short staffs. The sandwiches were fresh, deli was cut right in front of you and fresh veggies. Great job Jersey Subs. Definitely we will come back again. Thank You!👍“

“The food at Jersey Mike's is beyond questioning the best you can get for a fast food establishment. For some reason they don't have that "chain vibe." The service at this location was impeccable and very friendly in every way, and the ambiance was pretty cool they, even displaying their Point Pleasant New, NJ, origin in 1956. I'm only rating this review four stars because their Big Kahuna did not have any mushrooms as it's supposed to, (and very little onions, peppers and jalapeños). I mean the ratio of protein, cheese to veggies was not there.“
