“We had a very long tiring trip through the mountains just to get to our lodge in Lucia because we had to avoid the landslide closure on Hwy 1. It was exhausting driving, then 2 hours at the Hearst Castle where you aren’t allowed to eat or drink anything. .. no coffee anywhere on our route… just to find out the castle cafe was closed when we got back from the tour. I said all that to say this.. The young man behind the counter was closing and the look on my face must have spoke to him because he quickly told me he would make us food and me an Americana.. first his kindness brought tears to my tired eyes and secondly that coffee was THE BEST I’ve had. The hot sandwiches and fresh salad were delicious and the portions were large. We took half of it back up the lodge to eat later. This one decision by him to accommodate me and my grandsons completely turned this stressful day into a much better one. The cafe and store were clean, bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful and the area around the cafe and store is peaceful and attractive. Plenty of parking and the walkways were easy to navigate. I highly recommend this establishment and look forward to visiting again.“

“We were there on a slow Tuesday morning. Right away, we chose the table closest to the fireplace. The waiter was so kind and provided great service. The veggie omelet was very good, but THE PANCAKES WERE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. We made sure we let the waiter know they were excellent. We will be sure to order the pancakes again next time we make it to San Simeon.

“Breaking down the stars on this one! 5 stars - Food was excellent. kudos to the chef. 4 stars - Service very good...kudos for the bus boy who delivered napkins on his own after I sneezed, but had not asked for them. Waiter was pleasant and fairly attentive, but could use instruction on what is called suggestive selling. He definitely offered desserts, which we were going to turn down regardless, but suggestive selling a little different. (just a suggestion) My 1 star downgrade. 1 star - Neither my wife nor I drink alcohol. I ordered a Pomegranate lemonade, my wife simply water. I can "somewhat" understand 1 refill only on most of the non-alcoholic beverages! My particular beverage was not allowed a refill however. With normal size restaurant beverage glasses that is usually enough for most people per meal anyways! And along with the type of restaurant, I can understand having select beverages in keeping with the menu and customer target. But I DO NOT understand the kid size glass it came in...and at a fairly high price for a non-alcoholic beverage as well to along with no refill at all! At that price, I really was not encouraged to refill it, even once. It is as the saying goes "Penny wise but pound foolish!" If you do not drink wine or beer, but non-alcoholic drinks, and are stretching the budget a little to enjoy a better restaurant, might want to do what my wife did, a glass of water.“

“We stumbled across Moonstone while visiting Cambria over a year ago, and it is by far our favorite winery! We have never experienced another winery where we like everything they have to offer. If you go and Andy is there, you’re in for a treat. He elevated our wine tasting experience, and we are gladly members of their wine club and get to visit about 4 times a year. Answered all our questions in detail about the wine selections.Madeline's on Moonstone at Cambria Shores Inn is a great place for wine tasting. The patio seating has beautiful views of Moonstone Beach across the street. It has a very nice relaxed ambience. Oscar, Taylor and Giovana were the servers today. They were wonderful, very friendly, cheerful. and welcoming. Oscar provided information on the red and white wines for sampling and answered all our questions. You get a complimentary free sampling if you are a guess at this inn. It's $15 for five pours if you are not. Their bottled wines are available for purchase.“

“I always look forward to a meal at this homey place. My friend from his Cambrian days, John Brannon, recommended the hamburgers, and even though I was primed for breakfast I had the Mushroom Burger. Delicious, and the friendly waitress volunteered that I could order onion rings instead of fries at no additional charge. It was a great choice!“

“We love this place! The staff is so friendly, the food is great, and the bakery is awesome! My husband loves the chicken fried steak but I highly recommend either the avacado toast or the roasted vegetables with polenta. Don't leave without trying the olallieberry cream puff, yum!“

“This place had cuisine so remarkable I cried. As I have been to France many times and am quite a cook myself, this restaurant was a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Cambria, CA. I have had challenges finding authentic French affair anywhere outside of La France. This place... gracious me... just reminded me of tastes you can typically only find in Europe. The foods were fresh and bold. Full of flavour, with plenty of butter in the expected fashion! My scallops were a mesmerizing start to my meal. Fresh. Perfectly seared. Mildly 'sweet' with subtle hints of sage and the salty sea. I really just wanted an entire bowl of the scallops alone. I would have been blessed. I did not have to force myself to choose the warm baby spinach salad. Baby greens with a bright vinaigrette, toasted pecans and dried cranberry. Fresh mozzarella slices. Micro-thin red onion. Just a wonderful way to clean the palate before main course. This establishment is known for its filet mignon, though, I had filet the previous evening. I decided upon the chicken breast stuffed with brie, among other savory offerings. The thin skin was delicately crisp. The flesh... fork-tender. The filling just splendid and truly, on-point. Service was remarkable with smiles and friendly staff all around. If I could go there every day, I certainly would. I was delighted beyond expectation.

“My husband and I came in for breakfast and we sat outside. The outside is quiet and relaxing. Our server was great. He was busy but attentive…we didn’t have to ask for anything. We both ordered the ABC omelet and it was delicious! We had coffee to drink and the creamers were cold which was nice. This was the best meal we had of anywhere on the west coast.“

“After over 20 years of visiting, we stumbled on Lillys! What a great place for breakfast! Such a relaxed atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. We had the ham and cheese quiche today. Light and delicious! The staff there are great. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in. I could've just hung out there for hours. Absolutely loved the patio. Plenty of seating. “The eggplant parmesan was delicious! The restaurant makes their own vegan cashew cheese, and it is rich, creamy, and flavorful. So much better than the fake options usually available. My husband had the same dish with chicken and real cheese. He loved his as well! Any restaurant that can mail a vegan dish and a meat dish… well, that’s a treat!!!“

“I really love this place. They focus on boutique affordable wines from the local area. The tasting fee is incredibly reasonable and the atmosphere is cool. “Had lunch with a friend there the other day and I loved how fresh everything was. The chef came out and greeted us which is always a great experience. Everything was done old school there which I can really appreciate. Pasta was delicious! Attended a 🎶concert 🎶there last night. It was a fun night with great music by Jill Knight and Giovanni did a super job at providing a special menu for the evening. ♥️“

“I recently stayed at El Colibri Hotel & Spa in Cambria and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel is in a great location on the west side of downtown, just a short walk to the West Village and a longer stroll to the East Village. Easy access to Moon Beach Boardwalk Trailhead.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed. The bathroom was particularly impressive with a large shower and a relaxing jacuzzi tub. I appreciated the added amenities like the AC and fireplace, which made the room cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space, plus a loveseat and an open closet, which made it easy to settle in.

However, I was a bit disappointed to find that the rooms weren’t stocked with complimentary water bottles. We were told that water was available for purchase at $2 each, which felt a bit inconvenient. On the upside, there was a coffee maker, an ice bucket, and glasses provided.

Overall, El Colibri Hotel & Spa is a comfortable and charming place to stay in Cambria, with just a few small areas that could be improved. Would recommend for a relaxing getaway!“

“Me and some friends were visiting from out of town, and this place looked good and has a lot of vegetarian options! When we walked in, another customer even excitedly said "Everything on the menu is good!" and she definitely wasn't lying!! The service was wonderful, and the food here is delicious. Me and my friends absolutely enjoyed everything, and when we come back, this is absolutely going to be a favorite to return to!!!
