“Came on Wednesday for happy hour, and they were busy! They only had 2 servers working, but they were very efficient! We ordered the black garlic tonkatsu and intense mala broths. Both were really good! The mala broth wasn’t too spicy (even though we ordered extra spicy). The meats were great, and I especially enjoyed the Wagyu and beef toro cuts. They had a large selection of sides and veggies as well. I’d definitely come again, and happy hour pricing is so worth it!“

“Angus beef - Generous portion. Good quality. Actually pretty good deal.
Veggie combo - We were disappointed they didn't replace the veggie that we didn't like. Because it was part of the elite freebie, we got it anyway but I wouldn't order it if I come here myself. The yellow corn was very sweet.
Pork - good portion, good quality
Squid - I was very impressed with it. Taste really good if you like seafood.
Soup base - Disappointed that a few were out of stock. The numb spicy I didn't like. It's very spicy which is fine but it lacks flavor. I think if they use herbal or other soup base or just adding salt will improve the taste a lot better.
The herbal soup was very flavorful. Loved it! But a bit salty.“

“One of the BEST hot pot places I have ever been. The rich and tasty broths of any soup that is made has an intense flavor that makes you come back for more. Anything you add will take a flavor note from the hot pot so decadently you’ll just want to get it coming. They have a wider verity of vegetables, meats, and add ins that you can find at most hot pot places. The only thing strange was peppa pig was playing on the TV, which was very odd for a 8pm friday night.“

“Let me start by saying this — I have a pretty picky palate, and most restaurants I try don't really impress me. But this place is hands down my favorite restaurant in the U.S. The food is delicious, full of character, and incredibly affordable. At this price point, it's easily one of the best restaurants in the entire country.
Their Thai seafood hot pot and shrimp cupcake are absolute must-orders.
The Thai seafood hot pot comes with a generous amount of fresh seafood. The shrimp is average, but the squid, scallops, clams, and mussels are all excellent. The tangy and spicy Thai broth keeps your taste buds on edge and your appetite constantly stimulated.
I recommend getting the yellow noodles — they're chewy and springy, and taste amazing when soaked in the broth. If you find the noodles too firm, just toss them into the hot pot for a minute or two — they'll absorb even more flavor while softening just the right amount.
But what really makes this place special is their shrimp cupcake. I’ve never had anything like it at any other Vietnamese restaurant — and many places don’t even offer it.
The crispy shell and savory shrimp pair perfectly with refreshing green papaya slaw, fragrant herbs like perilla, Thai basil, and mint. Wrap it all in a big piece of fresh lettuce, drizzle some sweet-and-sour fish sauce on top, and take a big bite — you’ll feel like you’ve been instantly transported to Southeast Asia. The flavor profile is complex yet balanced, and the fact that you can enjoy it at such a low price is truly unbelievable.
Even the vegetarian version is fantastic — it may not have the shrimp's umami, but it still packs so much flavor that it’s totally worth trying, even if you're a vegetarian.
Their stir-fried dishes are also excellent — whether it's clams stir-fried with Thai basil or snails in creamy coconut sauce, you’ll be craving more with every bite.
If you’re coming with another guy, I highly recommend getting a medium-sized Thai seafood hot pot and one shrimp cupcake to share — for just around $30 total, you'll be blown away by how much quality and flavor you get for the price.“

“Chi Xiao Guo seems to be gone. Now it’s Liu Yue Teppanyaki Cuisine. They don’t sell hot pot in summer, but the Teppanyaki cuisine is also delicious. It’s very similar to the signature Teppanyaki Noodles at Taiwan’s night markets. Love! Definitely will come again : )“

“AMAZING snacks! There is a free snack bar with all kinds of delicious chinese snacks, the staff were very kind and gave children toys. You can walk in at any given time and they will find you a table immediately. The place is very clean, and my family and I love it so much we go at least 2 times a week. If you’re ever looking for a hot pot place go here!“

“Just had a dish of soybean seedling and it was surprisingly good! They had a perfect little crunch on the outside but stayed tender inside. The seasoning was spot-on—a nice savory, garlicky flavor with a hint of spice. It's a great simple side dish, super healthy-tasting, and feels light even when ate lots meats.“
“Great spot for Chinese food in downtown San Jose. I've been to their Fremont location a few times, but I think this location is a bit better since the portions are bigger, and the food is a lot less oily. My personal go-to dish is the beef wrap and mapo tofu, both of which have been fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned everytime I've been here. Staff are polite and service is pretty quick. The restaurant itself is clean and can get pretty crowded during lunchtime. Overall, definitely worth going to this place.“
“The soup is very delicious and traditional. That’s a nice experience when I am homesick during my long term business trip here.“

“It's one of my local hotspots. I've been eating here since pre Covid. Good thing the business survived because this place has the hot Mongolian beef broth that I like. It's not too thick and not too much. Just enough portion for 1 person. Overall service is good. They have milk tea also. Recommended the England milk tea.“

“Semi self-service. (Raw) meat selection for the table & personalized soup base are brought to you; the remainder (veggies, tofu & seafood) come on the conveyor belt. You pick your own side-dish sauces (buffet style). All you can eat but limited to 90 min.
Meats were very fresh, as were the seafood, since we had an 11 am reservation (allowed for > 6 people; more on this below). Plentiful and speedy conveyor belt since we were the "1st shift" (get my drift?). I preferred shrimp & chicken (low fat), but was able to tear off the fat (yup, strip by strip if your diet tends in that direction) from the red meats. After a while, no one could tell what meats were on which plates! We thought the baby scallops were great: fresh and tender if you let it into the soup only for 15 seconds, yet they didn't toughen up if you left them in for a while. Shrimp: delicious & fresh, and you have a choice of shelled vs with the full metal jacket!
The variety of tofu was really good. The puffy rectangles were especially nice since they soaked up the soup and softened upon contact with moisture. There were sufficient greens to even things out. We saw a group of Buddhist monks in the queue, so you know it's possible to eat vegan here.
Some of the soup base selections were exceptional: tomato (so good!), mushrooms & Tonkatsu highly recommended (these all start with bone broth, I believe). Miso not so much (uninteresting). The soup gets more flavorful as the meal progresses, so it's better to get something not too intense.
We secured a reservation with 7 people, but personally, I wouldn't do this again. The seating for a big group still places the conveyor belt next to only 2 people, so now those closest to the belt must continuously serve the rest of the table. It's too much. Far better to break up the group into foursomes. However, I've heard that sometimes they stuff a lone customer onto a table for 3. How weird is that?
While the atmosphere is alright, the style of food service is such that it made for a feeding frenzy with no conversation (except to praise the food). If it's a visit you seek, this is not the experience you'd want. Or plan to visit another place afterwards.“

“They have more soup choices than other places. We had tried mushroom soup and herb chicken soup. Both are tasty and not as salty as other places! The meat look less fatty, too!
They provide cold water and unsweetened cold red tea. The paper cups are by the checkout counter.
There are plenty of seats available in the food court and the space between seats are wider, too!“

“This is a nice little hidden gem with a variety of Korean and Japanesen dishes! There's a bunch of popular appetizers like cheese corn, edamame, gyoza, takoyaki, miso soup, and shrimp tempura. They also have a huge variety of sizzling rice bowls served in a stone bowl with different kinds of proteins. One kind that I wasn't expecting was chicken/pork katsu with curry. They also have 3 kinds of ramen, chicken/pork belly/beef. They have nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, and all the popular sushi rolls! They also have fried udon if you're into stir fried noodles. If you like classic soup udon, they have that too! Finally, the last main dish on their menu is hot pot.
We came here for dinner and got the pork belly ramen and lion roll, both of which were delicious! The prices here also seem fair with their portion sizes.“

“I was here for a music event, and my group didn't know what to eat. We found this place online and went to get some food. Eric, our sever was AMAZING! Such a sweet guy, and was always coming back to our table to make sure we were having a good time refilling out waters and adding more broth when needed. Give that man a raise!!“

“Amazing little Vietnamese restaurant that stands out among the sea of Vietnamese cuisine here in San Jose. We had the Conch Salad, grilled razor clams with scallions, tamarind shrimp, and butter blood clams.
All of the dishes were incredible and very fresh, with generous serving sizes and quick delivery. My favorite was the tamarind shrimp but all tasted great. The conch salad was super refreshing on such a warm sunny day, and the shrimp in tamarind sauce were just perfectly tangy and tender.
When I’m home in San Jose, I want good authentic Vietnamese food that you can’t get anywhere else beyond the Bay Area and Vietnam, I don’t want to waste my time with gentrified and overly Americanized food.
Oc Lau Nuong is definitely and firmly going to sit on my food priority list for when I’m visiting home for great seafood at really great prices.“

“I had a great time at Goku Korean BBQ! The atmosphere was cozy and modern, and the grill setup made the whole experience fun and interactive. The meat selection was fresh and high-quality — especially the short ribs, which were juicy and flavorful. The side dishes were delicious and varied, from kimchi to marinated vegetables, adding a perfect balance to the rich meats. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Overall, it’s a great spot for anyone craving authentic and tasty Korean BBQ. Highly recommended!“

“A pay per pound hot pot spot where you just pick your ingredients and they make it for you.
It's a novel experience around these parts and honestly it's pretty decent.
Was a fun experience and while the food is pretty mid mostly, it's priced alright too so is worth a visit if keen.“

“I want to gatekeep this place, but I want this restaurant to do well. We've been eating here for a few years, their drypot can't be beat. It's really delicious. You pick what you want to go in, and pick a spice level, and they'll cook it for you. Dining in also comes with a nice complementary sweet tea, which helps with the spice. We usually get it with rice. They're a good spicy for casual spice eaters. Probably not stupid spicy for those who really fixate on it.“

“This place is unique because it serves many different dishes than Traditional pho restaurant.
The service is excellent. Very impressed in a Vietnamese restaurant to get such great service. The server literally observe how we eat and started brining sauce and chili sauce to us without even asking. And offered hot water on a cold day.
The fried rice - it's not bad. I've had better in Chinese restaurant. The way I would make it differently is to use oil to fried the anchovies pieces and mash some of them into the oil and the rest in crunchy cube and then stir fry the chicken and the rice with those oil. It'll be much tastier.
Octopus was neat. It's the baby octopus and not the big octopus legs. It does depends on the sauce for its flavor not as strong. Suggestion would be using a honey/chili sauce to stir fry at the end to coat it with some sweet and spicy flavor.
They have many other dishes, I hope I can try it next time I'm in the area.“

“Service can sometimes take a while but its no big deal and doesnt happen all the time. Their food is really good! Will recommend the Kobe beef with udon noodles with garlic miso for the broth.(I love garlic) They always give you an entre of vegetables, which is so good. You have to cook all your food in the broth, and its fun and easy.“

“Mixed feelings on this place. The food, flavors and offerings were good. When I first arrived with our group of four plus a kid we were promptly seated in the back room. Where the air temperature ranged from 55-58°F. While they said they would turn the temperature up, there was people already seated in this area. The end of our experience, the temperature only reached 64°F. While my friend felt we were rushed to order. I interpreted that as they wanted us to get some of the order in soon so we can see what we wanted next. I'm used to that and hot pots and/or bbq situations. So be prepared to order ASAP. But that was just the food order. It took them quite a while to ask if we wanted anything to drink. We were even already eating before we were able to order some Soju, sake, and soda. There are three items that I had to repeatedly ask for since they had not arrived. One item never arrived. The entire visit. We were also presented with three items that we did not order. So attention to detail in the ordering/delivery system is lacking. The food selection in general was okay. Flavors were good. I wish there was more seafood options. Portion size was also a little interesting pork belly seemed appropriate size portion for a table four, yet beef tongue had three razor thin slices?!? Their sauce bar was A+; Great variety of options and kept clean and neat. Multiple staff helped along the way, all friendly, and attentive (while with us but clearly mixed signals after things were submitted on there there ordering system). We also were asked if we got our ice cream at least three times. I didn't know if that was their way of getting us out the door or if they were not communicating with each other that they've already served us it. So overall a good restaurant. Seems like they still need to work some things out. I'm not sure if this is a new place or not. The variety of options in the area, I'm not sure I'll give them a second try.“
