“It's become a yearly meeting place for my friends and I to meet here at this lovely and quaint establishment. I love coming into Sierra Madre, a tiny gorgeous little place that lets me forget the hustle and bustle of the city. The restaurant itself is cozy and the service awesome. The food is delicious and tastes fresh. I have had the mushroom risotto and the chicken dish that was fabulous. The salads are also fresh, light and tasty. The desserts were wonderful. Not heavy, not powerful sweet, just perfect. I had the creme burlee on one occasion and the brownie on another. We have tried other restaurants in the area, but for me this is my go-to when in Sierra Madre.“

“Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!“

“The asparagus fries. Crispy & not greasy. You can appreciate the asparagus flavor. We split the Thai spicy salad. It was spicy, but the Thai basil & the peanut dressing were the stars. It didn't need the chicken. The best was the ribeye melt. The meat was cooked perfectly.The sourdough was crusted with parmesan. With a side of horseradish that was perfectly paired for this sandwich.“

The seating was comfortable, and the replicas of famous paintings was cool. It is worth mentioning again that the pancakes are head and shoulders above any other that I've tried. “@holysaintsbistro is a gem in the wall. The quality of food coming out of their cozy, small kitchen is superb. Kudos to the chefs behind the line. I had the duck breast and lamb steak, and both were spectacular. The sauce the lamb was served with gave it just the slightest edge over the duck.

The only item that did not impress was the yellowfin tuna appetizer. It was smothered in seasoning that diminished any flavor of the fish and completely overpowered it.

Besides that, my dinner was exquisite.“

“We love JB Burgers. Why? For one, the food is great. I get a steak sandwich all the time. No mayo, due to a diet constraint. Sometimes I'll get a bowl of chili ... or if I'm in the mood, I'll get a stack of french toast with my steak sandwich. Yes, that's a lot of food!

Steak sandwich - The french roll is good. The steak is a nice piece of meat and it has great flavor. They put tomatoes and lettuce. The tomatoes are good. The lettuce adds a crisp crunch, but there's a lot of white lettuce. The steak sandwich is a must!

My better half gets a guacamole burger. Tasty and the guac adds some healthiness AND the creamy texture replaces mayo, 1000 Island or any other sauce that's not healthy.

The chili is good! When it's chilly or on a rainy day, it's good comfort food!

French Toast - this is good stuff. They give you a lot and it's made well. Taste is really good and they use a thicker bread - yummm!

Now to the wonderful staff! 95% of the time we've had good to exceptional service. I order inside the restaurant - makes sense since we're eating inside. One time, this gal told me I could not order inside and she made me go outside to order. I told her I order inside all the time, but she didn't want to listen. I almost left, but I saw the familiar faces there, so I ordered outside. The next time I saw her there, she let me order inside.

I try to get to JB's at least once a week. They're my go to!

We took a friend for a late breakfast, and he even went for the T-Bone, which was not medium as ordered, but then again, Denny's is not a steakhouse, but a diner with $20 T-Bones. “Delicious breakfast/brunch spot in the South Pasadena area. Breakfast burrito was a little greasy but delicious in its own right. Omelette could’ve been well done but didn’t stop the eggs from being nice and creamy. mint lemonades also are unique and tasty for the Pasadena heat around this time of the year.

Outside area is nice and spacious, plenty of shade and shrubbery all around to give it a welcoming atmosphere. Worth a visit in the area.“
