“I’ve been going to Towhey’s for over 20 years. I love their breakfast. I love their cheeseburgers. My daughter Micaela used to be a hostess in Alhambra. It’s one of my favorite go to restaurants. I love sitting at the bar. Also when they’re busy it’s a fun place to have dinner.“

“Came here for breakfast and the food was delicious especially the lemon pancakes ! It is a little pricey, but the food tastes great and fresh. They have beautiful outdoor and indoor seating and when I went it was not busy so it was nice to enjoy the outdoor seating. The service was good nothing that stood out, but also nothing to complain about. The food came out fast after we ordered.“

“CASH ONLY. Neighborhood gem. Inside has a cool old school, slightly divey vibe. Plenty of booth tables for seating. A couple TVs over the bar to watch a game. They have a great happy hour Mon-Thurs Open-9p Fri-Sun Open-6p. $4 wells and beers! Probably one of best happy hour deals you can find nowadays. The food specials are pretty good too. It's a good place for groups to hang and have a few drinks. They have live music on some nights and other events like an open mic night on Wednesdays.

“After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

“I grew up in this area 68 years ago and now live out of State. My family has a nearby home. While visiting, we stumbled on the Heights and they are the bomb! 5 stars hands down! They have excellent sandwiches among other great dishes. The sandwich rolls are the most delicious crispy French bread you ever had! They don't skimp on the sandwich contents no matter which one you choose. Oscar provides outstanding counter service and even let's me change out a few ingredients at no additional charge! Ignore any line, this place is worth any wait.
I would post my sandwich but it was so good I already finished it.“

“Angelenos have been debating this since time immemorial, so I’m happy to put it to rest: the best waffles in metro Los Angeles are at Russell’s in Pasadena. Also they validate parking. I can’t sit here and look you in the eye and tell you I value parking validation as much as I do delicious waffles, but middle age makes a confounding creature out of all of us and so here I am saying it’s darn close. Anyway, if you’re looking for waffles near old town, or if you’re somewhere else and have a reasonable means of transport to Old Town, or if you’re just sort of having this debate theoretically and have no practical waffle-procuring intentions, Russell’s is your spot.“

“This is a really neat historic spot, a craftsman home bulit in the 1800's in S. Pasadena repurposed into a restaurant. The vibe is cozy and welcoming. It's like your meeting with friends at someone's home but with professional service, where everyone can just relax and enjoy each other's company. My first visit was with a few girlfriends years ago for their happy hour which runs m-f, from 4-6pm. Since then I've come back for their brunch, and recently dinner. All visits have been memorable and exceptional all around.
They are known for their craft cocktails. My friend had to drink called Latina Medicina and substituted vodka for tequila. It was a citrusy, refreshing drink, beautifuly presented with a large square ice cube, which apparently takes 3 days to make. My husband had the Alien Pool Party cocktail, also refreshing and very fun! We had a lot of laughs with that one. So if you've never been here and are looking for something different, then I recommend you give him a try.“

With a side of horseradish that was perfectly paired for this sandwich.“

He arranged everything , communicated well and easily and when we got there on the day of, everything was laid out, the food was prepared, Christian and his crew were on hand to make sure everyone had water and drinks. The food was perfect and SO plentiful. The atmosphere was gorgeous as always, and the crew could not have been nicer. It really was the best I could have hoped for on so many levels. “Oh yes. My wife and I have passed this place many times when visiting the adjacent Flower market in DTLA - and it was always busy. After we had all our flowery-needs yesterday I asked my wife to Yelp "best breakfast in DTLA" and it popped up - the Poppy & Rose - and we were standing in front of it. I must say two things: I did not find the ambiance too appealing and they you could hear through the open door it was extremely loud. Still, we gave it a try - and I can tell you: it was delicious. Our server - one you would describe as the typical California surfer boy - was extremely charming - so despite the so-so ambiance (the vibe of this place was great though) and the noise we will definitely go again. Would we make a 30+ min detour just to eat here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five out five): again, oh yes!“
