“We came here on a whim because "the Dive" was packed and we didn't want to wait. We've been here to the Creat few times in thr past and it was good from our past experience. The entrance is at the back, by the parking lot. We came right in and we seated ourselves at the 2nd booth because all the other booths and bar were filled with people. We waited and found out through yelp that you look at the board for a dinner menu and an appetizer menu. It's very simple, steak for $14.99 or burger for $7.49. Cheeseburger is 7.99. The one lady was busy serving and cooking so we ordered with the bartender. It took a while for our food because she's the only one person. We started off with their fried zucchini sticks and they were delicious!! It's far cheaper than any place for fried zucchinis for $4.99 and ut was a giod amount. It came with two ranch dressings for dipping sauce. Soon our steak dinner plate and cheeseburger plate came and we enjoyed both. They have about 7 tvs to watch sports or whatever happens to be on. Both the bartender and the lady server/chef were pleasant to talk to. While I was yelping, I happen to leave my phone at our booth and we paid and left. After an hour later, I had realized my phone wasn't with me so our daughter called them to ask, sure enough they had it to the side for us to pick it up. They're great honest people and I would return any day for a simple meal!! Thanks very much!!“

We were 8 and none of the food runners ever knew who ordered what. They had to ask on every plate they brought. Not just our table but others as well. I don’t know if they have busboys as our table was never cleared. Plates upon plate stacked up. No one asked if we wanted a second drink and the glasses were never picked up. When we ordered dessert we had to move the 16 empty drink and water glasses to one side, gather the bread plates, wipe everything down and wait for our desserts. It was a busy night but not too busy for bad service. I kinda expected more than diner service at such an expensive restaurant.“

I ordered the onion soup and beef tartare. Supposedly onion soup is their signature dish, but it was really salty, I was a bit disappointed…. Because it was a $20 bowl of soup. The beef tartare was excellent, it would be nice if they offer one extra slice of bread and some more salad leaves. I was happy that they have half bottle of wine that I can order. The ambiance was old-school sophisticated, and it felt like we were transported to a different era by the Bossanova songs playing in the background. The chill rhythm of the music made me feel like we were living in an episode of Mad Men, and I secretly hoped that the boy from Ipanema would show up at the table next to ours.What helped make it a truly memorable experience was the Monterey Chicken. I'd had it before but couldn't find it on the menu. Our server was confident the Chef would make it for me, and she was right.A chicken breast pounded thin with the lightest breading cooked to perfection. The light golden chicken filled the plate, supporting a hollandaise sauce that blanketed avocado and tomato wedges. Each bite of the chicken alone was a delight, with the slightly rough texture and buttery taste delighting my tongue. Alternating with bites that included the creamy, perfectly ripe avocado and then the crisp freshness of the tomato made sure my mouth didn't get bored.I wish I'd remembered to take a photo first because the eyes are the first step to enjoying a meal. “Nick's always delivers great food at reasonable prices. My wife had the seafood cioppino with was good but it didn't have any scallops or crabs in it. The broth had a lot of cooked tomatoes. I had the meatloaf which was very good. Service was great and the sour dow bread is the best.“

“We really enjoyed our experience here. In fact, I have shared with several people since then how much I enjoyed being there, and the fact that it was the best meal I have had for sometime. We had the pork chops and salmon. In particular, we felt the meals were very tasty, well presented, and the carrot cake dessert was unique and simultaneously light and decadent. The service was also excellent. Our drinks were regularly filled, and someone was always checking in with us to make sure all of our needs were fulfilled. The only thing I would change is better signage for parking. It was unclear which parking lot was specific for the restaurant, and because the road is one way, we both, in our separate cars, ended up having to go all the way around the block before figuring out precisely where to go. I had to call for specific instructions, and the person with me called me for further instructions. Better signage outside, and also signage for precisely where to once you get out of your car, would be helpful. Also, since you can only park on one side of the parking lot, signage for that would also be helpful.“

Everything else was wonderful, including the drinks. It’s very intimate inside, but as the restaurant fills up it gets quite loud. The patio is covered and heated, but you may find yourself having to talk over the nearby tables or road noise. Valet parking only, $8 at the time of this review. There is street parking available on Fair Oaks though.“

“I recently moved to the area and this was our first time at The Proper Restaurant but it most certainly won't be our last. Everything ... and I mean everything was excellent! I started out with the Proper Clover Club cocktail and it was so refreshing and delicious. My husband and I then shared the white chicken chili which was equally delicious. For our entrees, my husband ordered the miso salmon which was out of this world and I got the chicken piccata. The chicken was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded and the pasta was tossed in a wonderful lemonny piccata. I also had a Malbec which was so smooth, I wanted to order the whole bottle (but alas, I did not). And since everything else was so good, we couldn't leave without ordering dessert -- the warm butter toffee cake. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. Driving through Old Town Monrovia after 9 pm looking for a place to eat and found JB Burgers. We didn't want just a burger, and was happy to see that their menu had a good mix of food and each of us could find something we liked. You order at a window on the street side. The inside seating was closed because it was almost closing time, so we took it to go and ate in the car but they did offer us to use the patio seating (it was a little too chilly out). Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the pork chops which were excellent. The plate comes with two thin cut pork chops. They weren't dry and had great grill flavor. The staff were very friendly and knew the ingredients of the menu. We would definitely stopped there again when in Monrovia for a quick bite to eat.“

“I once had a bad experience at the Burbank location. However this place seems to have gotten their act together. The food was fine a little small but fine. But the drinks, drink menu and bartenders were impressive. Attentive bartenders despite the ample size of this place. Knowledgeable too. I had 2 penicillins and a Hemingway daiquiri. My associate had a sidecar bourbon and wine. I've had drinks at the bar and outside where the bartenders open up a window and you are served from the outside. Pretty cool“

Last night we enjoyed @majordomola . Koreanish food, at it's best generous and full flavoured. Standouts include the pork shoulder, duck confit rice and the flambe(d) doughnuts.Next time we'll try their signature rib dish too. Take an appetite and lots of family. Also loved Houstons. “We've come here a few times and the food and drinks are generally pretty good. Decent ambiance and looks like it was originally a house that was converted into a restaurant. Making reservations can be a bit of a process. Rarely will someone pick up the phone, but there is a way to make reservations online through their website which does require a credit card deposit and for you to sign up with this reservations app. Some items on the menu are a bit overpriced as some other reviewers mentions, but we would definitely come back.“

Plates were left on the table between courses necessitating the server to clear them. The food was very good. It's not fine dining—does not pretend to be so—it's more akin to the casera vibe. It's as if you were eating at a friend's home, albeit a friend that really knows how to cook. We sampled the chicken and the pork chop. The chicken was outstanding. As we all know, chicken is a challenging protein to cook perfectly. And it was. It arrived hot and juicy and expertly seasoned. My comment on the pork is only representing my own flavor profile; I found it to be needing a bit more pan sauce. And, for me, the Dijon mustard came on a bit too strong and overwhelmed the delicacy of the subtle pork flavor. We really enjoyed the ambience. Both outside and inside were a comfortable environment to enjoy a nice, un rushed meal. We will return.“

Inside is a dimly lit log cabin with wood shavings on the floor and a life sized stuffed bear in a display case by the waiting area. The red cabbage salad was good but overly salty as was the salad dressing. The cheese bread was very flavourful but oily. More butter than cheese. Dinner was a steak and lobstertail combo. The steak was a reasonable sized portion and well cooked. The lobstertail and side potato were enormous, perfectly cooked. There's a reason things are called lumberjack sized. Even the coffee mugs are oversized. Everything was delicious including the chocolate mousse dessert which was the perfect size. Just be aware there are no vegetarian or vegan options here.
