“Fantastic traditional Japanese (as in not Korean, not American style).

Omakase was perfect & very fairly priced. Fish quality was over the top orgasmic good.

We also had the baby octopus salad photo attached that was absolutely fantastic tender and extremely tasty.

In short extremely glad we finally tried this place. Won’t be the last time for sure.“

Sushi Sonagi is located in a strip mall on Artesia Blvd. before you hit the 91 freeway and by the early evening when you arrive, parking seems to be plentiful.

Coming in, I was immediately greeted and given a reserved spot at the intimate sushi bar. The sushi bar itself is really fun and full of small LA-focused delights like a bobblehead of sports stars. And the music played old school 90's and early 00's jams.

Behind the counter is Chef Daniel Son who does a wonderful job guiding the whole journey with a super friendly and laidback attitude. I loved how the ingredients are not only from his travels in Japan but also locally from the Torrance Farmers Market where I go often myself. Also love the presentation from the plates to all of the techniques he uses that you get a first hand look at.

Drink-wise, they have carafes/bottles of sake as well as some beer options. I opted for one of the sake carafes which lasted me throughout the meal. The waitress that was serving the entire seating that night was also super funny and laid back as well along with being super attentive.

As most omakase menus, this one changes every season. Here were some of my personal favorites of our 18 courses:
*Flounder fin: One of the best sushi items we had that night. So buttery and delightful. Loved the explanation and conversations as well around some of the facts and challenges around serving this.
*Hanasaki dolsot bap: Such a clever and delicious take on the dolsot bap. It's presented beautifully with the crab shell and then portioned out to all the patrons. If you wanted extras, the Chef is more than willing to accommodate.
*Miso butter atsuyaki tamago: Loved this extra little oomph to the tamago with the miso butter. Again, just buttery smooth with a hint of sweetness. So good.
*Chawanmushi: His chawanmushi was a great use of local ingredients like the summer corn and ikura. Refreshing and playful.
*Scarlet shrimp: Absolutely delicious and delectable. A bright flavor.

At the end, not only do you get the full menu but a really cute handwritten card that was a really nice touch.

The atmosphere in here is beautiful.
The theme of the restaurant is 10/10 what I would expect! Nothing boring or plain like sugar fish.
You’re greeted by the sushi chefs when you come in- very sweet of them.
They’re actually Asian chefs- which I appreciate.
Came in for a walk in- which they accept. Around 8 pm and was seated immediately.

I ordered the baked salmon roll (my favorite)
Tsunami roll, was good just too many flavors- I still enjoyed it though. 8/10
Dragon roll- my second favorite 10/10
I went with my date and we got full! Payed around 46$ very reasonable price 10/10!

Will be returning!

This unassuming restaurant is located at the corner of a petite shopping plaza, so parking shouldn’t be too difficult. It’s best to make a reservation well in advance.“

“Been coming here for years. I usually get the two item combo. The amount of food you get is filling. Food always tastes fresh. Here are the items I like: teriyaki chicken, tempura, salmon avocado rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and miso soup. I've tried other items and they were all good but I keep coming back to these. “This is a little hidden gem in Gardena for boxed futomaki sushi that's been around since 1962!!!

Keep in mind, this is not your typical sushi with spicy tuna and nigiri. This is a certain tradition style of sushi with very well seasoned rice (vinegar) to keep it from spoiling. It's known as zoshi-sushi (pressed sushi).

The spot is run by ladies who look like they have been doing this for decades. The menu is super simple with just 6 different choices.

The rice here has plenty of vinegar so I can last and withstand the heat.

They offer mixed set boxes for a la carte create your own box sets. They also do bigger orders for parties and catering.

Everything here is absolutely delicious and reminds me of being back in Japan.

Trust me, try this traditional no frills spot for some of the best take out sushi.“

“Kikyo Sushi and Sake Bar is a great place to eat some great food. Their handrolled sushi rolls are lit!

We had a California Roll and a rock shrimp roll, and they were perfectly delicious. The rice was plump, with a slight bite with the perfect amount of filling.

A must try is their spicy garlic edamame. Man, they are so flavorful with the right spiciness. You'll be asking for seconds.

The reason for a 4 rating is that the bulgogi beef was a bit dry. It fell a little short in flavor and its traditional sweetness.

They have a great 5 dollar "thirst-quenching" draft beer that goes perfectly with your meal of choice.

Will I be back...YES! In a heartbeat and you should too, when you're in the area.“

“I have been going to Mamma's sushi for years. Before the Shabu Shabu next door. I have always enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere. It seems like they get better in each category over the years. Recently, I have noticed that while other places have made Sushi almost unaffordable, Mamma's sushi saves the day with all their deals. Lunch specials, dinner specials it seems like they have something for every time slot of the day.

“Really great Japanese restaurant. Miso soup is legit - brothy with lots of adds with seaweed, green onion and tofu. Super flavorful. Green tea is steep yourself in suoer hot water for the right depth of tea, and truly great flavor. Sushi (spicy tuna) was delish. As soon as you walk in, you are met with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere befitting such a nice restaurant. The menu is full of variety, with classic staples like gyoza and tuna rolls while also featuring special dishes, with my personal favorite being the spider rolls, which are absolutely delicious. Service is quite fast and the owner is extremely welcoming to customers. It is clear that the owner really puts their heart into the food and makes it impossible not to enjoy the meals prepared for you.

“An amazing "conveyor" belt sushi restaurant with high quality fish and great vibes. I use quotes because the belt is only used to deliver the food to your table as opposed to the rotating dishes. It's located inside of Tokyo central and there's gunna be a long wait for dinner but honestly.... it's such a great market to wander that you'll find the long wait to be fun.

Almost everything we ordered was delicious, mouth watering, and satisfying quality fish. The salmon quality is so butter smooth and I actually recommend the salmon party if that's your favorite type of fish.

Most items are decently priced and you can totally get full off of 30 bucks if you order the lower tier stuff. Service was quick and friendly.

Tip: You don't need to order on the tablet lol it'll get your arm tired from swiping the fixed screen. Just scan the QR code and order through your phone.

“Hiyori Sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in Cypress, CA. The food is delicious, the restaurant is clean and tidy, and the staff is very friendly. I tried the Medium Live Sashimi set, and I was extremely satisfied with the numerous side dishes that came with the sashimi. I definitely have to try Tuna special next time“

“I'd give food a 5 but the way they made the ceviche is like tomato and onion based, like I get it suppse to carry tomato's and onion but for it to be MOSTLY that and not the ceviche is crazy!! It was delicious though. Everything was good except the sushi tempura Cali roll, they make their own sushi sauces but eel sauce is DEFINITELY needed. Maybe I got the wrong sushi since they're lots of different ones. The service when I got there. I almost left because it took awhile to get greeted, the were staff passing me and didn't acknowledge me, I thoguht that was rude. Acknowledgement is VERY important. I think the manager or the owner kept passing by and had the meanest, bitter face and idk but I think that if you're a manager or the owner you should be friendly and nice and give acknowledgement. “Last minute dinner date and needed to find a Japanese sushi restaurant closeby in Torrance that opened past 8pm and found this place through Google Maps. Called them at lunchtime for a reservation which i got and they said that last food orders was 845pm so that was perfect.

Couldnt get the sushi bar but table seating was perfect and intimate. Our server was friendly and we ordered right away. Prices were a little on the high side but its a date so live a little?

Ordered a couple small appetizers and the Sushi Dinner deluxe for myself and the Sushi Omakase for my date that featured speciality fish of the day (chefs choice). Everything was fresh and high quality, delicious and authentic. “My family and I stayed at the Crystal casino hotel from my oldest sister's 32nd anniversary. The front desk receptionist Victoria was so lovely she helped my family with whatever we needed help with. She was very pleasant, patient, nice and displayed great customer service skills. We were there for 3 days and each day the continental breakfast was GREAT and had something different to eat each day plus waffles which were DELICIOUS. I would recommend the Crystal casino and hotel because great customer service, cleanliness, and a wonderful continental breakfast.“
