“Fun Sushi bar scene, but also capable of authentic, traditional Èdomaè Sushi. ? Nice selection of ultra premium Sakè (sah keh) to pair perfectly with high end Japanese cuisine. Sushi chefs are actually from Japan so you know you're getting the "Real McCoy".Of course, Koi will also make "American" Sushi rolls using mayo, sriracha, "eel sauce", Tempura flakes all at once if so desired for the uninitiated. Park in their own parking lot or street parking.“
“Found a new go to Sushi Joint!!! Great food. The smell of fish hit me when we walked in, which concerned me initially, but food/fish quality was excellent. Menu requires a magnifying glass, but once you get what you order you'll be more than pleased!!!“
“Traveling for work, this was next to the Hampton Inn. I am so glad I found this place! I've been working up north in Woodland/Agoura hills, and there was nothing like this for twice the price.Very fast, friendly service, nice quiet place.Overall Great Experience and would recommend!“
“Absolutely such an amazing place. Ty makes you feel so welcome and like part of the family. Sara and Laura are fantastic servers with so much energy and made us feel so comfortable. They were very busy and still managed to accommodate every single person in the restaurant. Definitely my new spot! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
“I would have never imagined! Not a great looking place but boy! The food was great! I had filet mignon sushi roll, crab and crab nachos that blew my mind! The taste was just AMAZING! The service by the sou chefs was great!!!! I would definitely go back for the sushi roll cuts!“
“Came here for the Brunch with the Beatles!! Good pretty good the service is good and the music top self!! I went to a Beatles concert so I was one of those screaming girls at 16 years old!! I appreciate a good tribute band!! And they are pretty good!!“
“Good fresh sashimi and sushi, plus Korean faves like bimbimbop, all with brown rice as an option. They have a great matcha ice tea they make for $4.50, kinda pricey (no free refills) but delicious. 2 nice shaded out outdoor tables as well as indoor dining.“
“Great quality, friendly atmosphere, definitely going to be a regular!A hidden gem in Garden Grove. Japanese owned omakase that focuses on seasonal offerings. Ben and Ayako make you feel welcome once you walk in those doors. The menu is hand written and you can see the focus and care that Ben puts with each piece of nigiri. If you want to come and get a bite, make sure you make your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.“
“This was very delicious high in price for the portions. The one turnoff was the appetizer tostada at $14. With literally only a small portion of salad, it's just 4 tortilla chips with tiny tasty greens. I almost fainted when I paid $28 for 8 pieces of chips with greens on top. Other than that, the food was good. Would go back again. Oh yea, the service was great too!“
“Wow!! Just wow. When I say I never write reviews, I never do. Something has to be either real bad or real good in order for me to write a review. But this place 100% deserves its praise.Typically, to find a good sushi place in this district is almost impossible. And I orginally went to eat at the restaurant next door but they were fully booked. So my fiancé and I saw this place right next door and out of desperation to save our date night, we decided to give it a try regardless of how skeptical we were about the sushi in this district…Right away the second you enter the restaurant, employees instantly make you feel not just welcomed, but wanted but everyone stopping what they’re doing to greet you. Never experienced this at a restaurant so it caught me off guard but made me feel good.Very knowledgeable and patient servers (for those who are new to eating sushi)A reasonable wait time for the foodAnd the food itself was incredibly delicious. Typically with sushi I either dislike it or love it, I’m that picky about sushi. And these people here are one for the very few in LA county who do it right. If you’re like me and struggled finding a good sushi place in LA county, your search has ended. Osaka story has arrived ???“
“Been here 2 times on the last month. Good value and passable food.Prices are reasonable BUT both times ordered sushi either bad quality fish or the sushi chef does not know how the cut fish so it's not tough to eat or hard to chewA good cut of raw fish should slide into your mouth and almost to desolve by itself. Very much like getting a tough cut of steak and cross cutting it making it worse. They do have a full menu with options of fish noodles ramen us on typical combination plates. The baked mussels in shell are a must try here a nice hot tasty appetizer“
“What hidden gem this place is. I came here 3 times in the same week when I first discovered this place. They have a wide variety of different foods, from chicken sandwiches to sushi to poki bowls to fried wings. They have such good quality food, everything tastes amazing. The service is also amazing, the same lady served me every time I came in and she was so kind during each visit. Lastly, the prices here are so well priced! I would recommend this place 10 out of 10 times.“
“Great quality of food. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. The handrolls are stuffed with chopped fish cubes rather than ground meat, which I love.Premium handrolls are worth trying. The A5 wagyu beef is so fatty and delicious. Uni is fresh and sweet with no weird taste.I also love that they have a wide selection of sides. And they are all delicious. Strongly recommend the edamame and furikake fries.Service is great except that the server forgot about some of our orders. But it’s understandable, we are party of 8 and ordered a bunch of different rolls not sets. They served the missing rolls right away after we mentioned it. Water is filled in time. Payments were settled smoothly(split b/w 4 cards).Parking is easier and right in front of the restaurant. They have outdoor and indoor seatings, which can accommodate a lot more people than the other locations.Overall a nice experience. Would recommend this place and come back when in the area.“
“The best local HB sushi restaurant! From a variety of tasty rolls, clean spot and the friendliest chefs and staff, you cannot go wrong. We always leave full and happy and have great conversations with the staff! This is a family ran restaurant, and they welcome everyone and make you feel at home. We will continue coming here!“
“The waitress forgot that I was allergic to avocado. The Chef checked to see how the food was and I told him I couldn’t eat one of the rolls because of avocado. He made one for me to take home. One of the best customer services I’ve ever had in a long time.“
“It's giving Michelin star... I come here about once a week and the fish never fails! Always fresh and the customer service is amazing. Wendy is my absolute favorite. Only bummer is that they don't open until 5 PM even on the weekends. Reservations recommended!“
“Whether we order takeout or dine-in Hanako's been consistently yummy! Thai food + sushi ... makes it nice to not have to go to two separate restaurants Their pad thai & drunken noodle are solid. I also like their spicy tuna crispy rice & salmon w mango roll. They have an awesome happy hour menu that runs til 7pm - so it's nice to visit before then. Good to support a family business!“
“We recently moved to Lakewood. Normally we have sushi in J-Town or Torrance, but we don't really want to drive too far. We had sushi at a spot in Lakewood a month ago, but it was terrible. A relative recommended this place, and I have to say, I was skeptical. Anyway, we came at around 7:30pm on a Saturday. Parking was not too easy, but luckily we found street parking nearby. The interior is really well done. We could immediately tell that there is major customer loyalty, since I believe it is the owner that greets everyone and there were a lot of regulars. The servers are very friendly and attentive. I was very surprised that they had a great selection of fish (great fish) and even had ankimo (monkfish liver) and natto (fermented soybeans) too. The salmon skin salad also is the best salad I have ever had! We loved everything about this really great place and definitely will be back soon!“
“Came here with my friends after Sake2Me had closed down their waitlist, but honestly I don't regret it one bit. We had a great time here with their service and quality of fish! The AYCE Sushi price here is $42.99 for the regular menu options. I honestly think that's enough choices for that price. Food takes a bit to come out and comes out sporadically. The quality of the fish was enough to make it worth it. We gobbled up every round so quick! I have to come back here whenever I'm craving good sushi in LB.“
“Everything I have ordered has been top notch and when I order I never doubt what I get will be something that will beat my expectations. I love going here when I am looking for a good variety of sushi. I have gotten many of the rolls to share with my family and different combos that really work well together. Also they offer a great selection of extras, and great packaging for very good prices makes it the best place to choose in the area.“
“I ordered the tuna nirvana, animal roll & Lucia roll. The tuna nirvana had a great variety of veggies inside, I want to try more vegan rolls! I loved all the rolls and I will definitely come back to eat again. I did take out and love all the packaging. They put the sauce on the side for the rolls so the rice doesn't get soggy, I love the details!“
“Our favorite place for hand rolls! I always get the salmon or ahi tuna hand rolls with eel sauce and spicy mayo and it always hits the spot. Usually get take out and it’s pretty quick. Have dined in too and it’s super cute inside with friendly service. Tried one of their sushi rolls too and it was super good and fresh. Highlight recommend if you’re looking for a delicious poke, sushi, or hand roll spot in HB!“
“Loved every single thing we ordered here! The quality of the sushi was seriously melt in your mouth. Parking absolutely sucked, we drove around the blocks multiple times until we came up on street parking behind the alley somewhere. It wasn't terribly busy, got there around 7:30 and was seated in 10 minutes as parties were leaving. The yuzu roll was such an explosion of beautiful flavors combined in your mouth, 10/10 recommend for yellowtail lovers! Ambience was dim, not too noisy and the music was quaint. Would definitely come back to this place next time I'm in the area.“
“Yoooo this place is the best!!!! they have 2 Locations but this one!!!! Wow. Just amazing!! The Owner is the absolute best! She’s lively and lovely and makes sure you’re having the best experience possible!! I’m making this my new go to sushi spot!! If your searching for a new restaurant definitely try this place asap!“
“I went here for a business meeting with someone I was meeting for the first time. We both were amazed at the quality of the fish. Just on look alone, it looked like what you would see at a high priced sushi spot. They have 50% nigiri, so salmon is like $3.99 for 2 pieces. Tuna is $4.50 for 2 pieces and the most expensive is Otoro at like $15 for 2 pieces. Typically, a 50% off sushi sign would terrify me, and I would be lying if I said i wasn't skeptical the first time I went here but I assure you, the skepticism will be long gone after you see the sushi hit the table. It tastes incredible and it was so good that after going my first time, I went again 2 more times over the course of the next 2 weeks. This sushi spot is 50 minutes from where u live in Santa Monica and I plan to absolutely return soon. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND“
“Hadn’t been here in years. Have no idea why I’ve deprived myself of such great food!! Can’t beat the sunrise roll. Albacore sashimi was fresh and buttery. Staff was friendly and quick to seat and serve us. Love the art on the wall. Even background music was enjoyable. Great place for date night. Def adding back to our date night list!“
“This is my go to place when craving ramen and sushi. It is a small place but clean, the food is good, service is fast, and price is reasonable. The owner and staff are very friendly. This place is located in the parking area of Northgate Lincoln and Knott.“
“One of my favorite sushi to go to! Quality of fish and prices are unbeatable. The place gets quite busy so I recommend be there at least half hour before they open for dinner. Staff are friendly. Love Vincent one of the sushi chefs. I come here at least once or twice a month.“
“Love this local spot. The ramen is so good, love the Spicy Miso especially. It's got good flavor but not too spicy. All the rolls have been yummy too! The vibe is anime which is super cute and casual. Service has always been solid even when they are busy. Have been back several times and it's consistently good!!“
“I was surprised to discover this nice restaurant in this area! From outside the building doesn't look great but the food and service level is magnificent! The food might be easily compared with 5 star restaurants. Not to mention smooth jazz music making the atmosphere romantic and relaxing. The staff is super nice and does everything to make you feel comfortable and happy. I'll definitely come back!“
“Had dinner with my daughter we had the Tonkotsu Shoyu and Tonkotsu Black ramen which did not disappoint. Great service as we didn't have to wait to be seated or for our food. Definitely coming back to try the ribs with the ramen next time.“
“Food:Udon - 5/5Sushi - 4/5Shrimp Tempura - 5/5Been going to this place for almost ten years and still is my go to udon place. I usually get a sushi set with it and it's fresh. Service: 5/5Ambiance: Not really extraordinary but it isn't dirty or anything bad either.“
“Food was overall pretty good, Ramen was great but not extraordinary as some other placesNonetheless still a great place to eat, sushi was deliciousWish they had more of a drinking varietyAtmosphere is pretty comfy, not too big but spacious enough! And the service was absolutely 5 out of 5I would definitely not think twice if I wanna come here“
“Fisherman’s Table Yamasaki!(Meant to post under Paul Gorman but posted on my wife’s account somehow)Just in case you haven’t been there for a while or not at all, here is a recap of our visit during the Super Bowl this afternoon/evening.We have been here many times and Fisherman’s Table Yamasaki never disappoints. Tonight we had the honor of meeting the owner/chef and his lovely wife. With his family fishing history of 200 years, I know he is committed to the very best. I don’t pretend to be an expert though I know quality. We brought my son with us tonight and his expression when having scallop nigiri delighted Chef Kazuma Yamasaki. We love their Fisherman Karaage which is a very unique style …Yamasaki fish and chips … and one of our go to dishes on every visit. Beyond that tonight we ordered the Premium Dinner Set, a Yamasaki Dinner set, and sweet shrimp. The fish melts in your mouth and is unlike any sashimi/sushi I have ever tried in the best possible way. You won’t find all the crazy cut rolls and sauces, though you will find all of their in house made sauces and soy sauce a perfect match for their fish. Sake, beer and sodas are available. We enjoyed talking with Chef Kazuma Yamasaki and acknowledged the distinctive freshness, varieties and quality of their fish. In speaking with his wife, Fumi Yamasaki, she shared a picture of their lovely family. The final delightful surprise of our meal was chocolate covered strawberries made by their daughter.Check out their hours and I highly recommend giving their amazing restaurant a try or a revisit. Perhaps tonight is the night after the Super Bowl!“
“I got the crunchy cali roll, sweet roll, seared salmon roll and seaweed salad. I shared them with one other person and it was just enough to fill us up. All of the rolls were delicious. This was my second time coming here and I can't wait to come back!“
“Little hole in the wall. Never new this place existed until I googled sushi places near me. Tried it for the first time. Their sushi is very delicious!! Very good deals too. Buy 2 get 1 free. Super yummy, have lots of flavors. Service was good. Am definitely going back to try more of their deliciousness.“
“Our first time here at Umi's AYCE Sushi and I never had the opportunity to eat at Joe's Sushi so I can't give the comparison review. The best part of lunch was the service. Our server was wonderful. She was very patient and gave a great explanation to the rules of the ayce option. As for the AYCE sushi menu, it was very average. Of the sushi, rolls and appetizers I ordered, there was nothing that stood out as spectacular. Other than the nigiri sushi, everything else had a lot of sauces and filled with a lot of spicy tuna or imitation crab. For the $33.99 price during lunch, I don't think I fully got my monies worth. During the time we went wasn't busy so it was fairly quiet and not a lot of people so we were well attended to. It was nice to finally give this place a try, but I think it's a one and done.“
“The food is classic Japanese but I have to say the sushi is real and very fresh. Not premade soggy limp stuff. Their sushi bar and food is real. They prep and fillet the fresh fish there and cut and serve to order. My adult kids like the steak and that is very good too. I work nearby and noticed the place is always busy at lunch with lots of business men enjoying a good meal. Lunch servise is fast and respectful of short lunch hours for the business men. I go there often when I want to treat myself to a nice lunch, have business lunches with clients, and take the staff for a birthday dinner. Perfect place.“
“I own my mistakes and one major mistake that I've made over the past year+ is that I failed to stop into Mahkin Thai & Sushi despite walking by the restaurant at least 3 times per week. Sushi on Fire has always been the go-to sushi restaurant for my husband and I for years and while the food is good, the service is OK. Now fast forward to today when we decided to go to Mahkin instead of Sushi on Fire. WOW. WOW!!! The quality of the food was exceptional - fresh, beautifully prepared, and simply delicious. The service - second to none! Thoughtful, friendly, professional, accommodating (I'm vegan) - I simply cannot emphasize enough how sincere the Mahkin team was and truly, they are a team.My husband ordered the 911 Fire Roll, yellow tail, etc., and I had the most sensational tofu, chili, and basil entree. The restaurant was superbly clean and the vibe was welcoming and friendly - the Huntington Beach way.Mahkin quickly earned our loyalty moving forward. Only regret is that we didn't venture into Mahkin earlier.“
“This is my 3rd time going to eat dinner there and so far I have not been disappointed. The sushi still delicious and the service fast and friendly. Today I took my sister for the first time for her birthday and she like it. Also our waiter surprised my sister with ice cream for her birthday that was so sweet of them.“
“Loved the food, service, and environment here! The sushi was made fresh and every roll was so delicious. The service was extremely welcoming. We had the mushroom bomb, tuna and salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and more. I recommend dipping the sushi with gochujang and soy sauce if you like something spicier, because I loved it. I recommend getting the fried tempura green tea ice cream. It reminds me of Taiyaki ice cream. I loved this hidden gem and would definitely come back.“
“The serving size is worth the affordable sushi prices compared to other sushi places. The quality might not always be the best, but it hits the spot whenever I'm craving sushi and don't feel like spending more than $20 with their BOGO 50% off deal.“
“Was really great food at amazing prices, truly authentic ramen the waitress/cook was super nice they also have a cool little system at the tables where you push a button to let them know you need help, it small nothing fancy but the food was the center piece I've spent hundreds on ramen places all over the country and seems little places like this are the true winners“
“Me and my husband have been ordering our sushi from here for years now. Usually just order takeout. Everything always tastes fresh and it looks appetizing as well. Two of my favorites are the Bolsa Chica roll and the pink lady roll, both are the no rice rolls which I like when I am wanting low carb options.Dietary restrictions: No rice rolls are amazing for those that need to limit their carbs.“
“Came here with a friend during Dine Long Beach week and tried the special. I really liked the atmosphere, location and service were all great. As far as the food, both my friend and I felt the fried oysters were soggy, and the shrimp and egg sushi were really dry. I'd rate the food 3 stars but bumped it up to 4 for service and ambience. I'd try it again but maybe with something of the regular menu.“
“First and foremost, the service is friendly and timely, and the people running it have a genuine aura to the point I trust them with handling my food. And that is important to me!Del Amor and Dynamite Special rolls are my go-to's! Bomb every time. No raw fish in these. It's about $15-17 per roll. Their basic rolls are half this price. So many rolls to choose from! And I've tried many, but can't remember them all. I do remember being disappointed with their spicy tuna roll, but I'd be willing to try it again. Details on ingredients are shown in the menu. I've had their ramen, very flavorful. Spring rolls had a nice crisp, I enjoyed them. Wontons had a bit of a tough bite. Overall, I have had majority deliciousness from Sushi Loco and I've continued to be a returning customer. I have always ordered to-go, but there are a few tables available to dine-in. Located in a small center on the corner of LB Blvd. and 49th st.“
“Really great Japanese restaurant. Miso soup is legit - brothy with lots of adds with seaweed, green onion and tofu. Super flavorful. Green tea is steep yourself in suoer hot water for the right depth of tea, and truly great flavor. Sushi (spicy tuna) was delish. So glad I took my car in for servicing down the street and needed a lunch place while I waited!“
“Today I went to sushi Kinoya because of a recommendation from my math teacher.I tried the Baked Eel Roll, and everything was very fresh, and they put a very good amount of Eel. I give it a 9/10 excellent. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed, and the servers were very good. I will be taking friends here and I recommend coming and trying this joint out.“
“Exceptionally excellent. Very impressive dining experience. I’m in town visiting relatives and my cousin has been looking for a place to call his favorite sushi spot - we tried a newer place - which was terrible - they had pictures on the menus, which was the first sign that it wasn’t a serious sushi restaurant. We ordered some maki - tried it - wasn’t good we left. We found Hashigo on google maps. As soon as we sat down at the sushi bar we knew that we came to the right place. Great selection / variety of fish - one easy tell if it’s a good sushi place is if they have either pickled or fresh wasabi. Which Hashigo has pickled. Very fresh fish - we ordered salmon, halibut, mackerel, bluefin, yellow tail … eel, and salmon Kama every bite was amazing - our chef was very personable. Very good knife skills. I’m convinced that a lot of the sushi restaurants in this area have fake reviews or people just don’t have any idea what good sushi tastes like. Eat here and Hashigo will become the place which you will compare the other sushi restaurants around too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ very good overall - this is my cousin’s new favorite sushi spot.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level - sidewalk ramps“
“Food is good, with basic traditional sushi fare and the fish is pretty fresh. They're still getting their feet under them as they can't handle crowds yet, but the folks are very nice. Ambiance is small-town nice with a sushi bar and dining area as well. I keep going back as I don't have to walk all the way through town and across PCH now for a simple sushi meal when I don't want to walk far or don't want something fancy. It's great for that quick snack too.“
