“I feel like people are sleeping on this place. Shimizu is a hidden gem and a great asian fusion resturaunt. I've actually been here twice. The first time I went was last summer for my birthday dinner with a friend. The service was great and food was delicious. I went again for my fiancée's birthday and we were surprised to find they had an awesome happy hour on Sunday! Service is great, food is delicious. We tried the coconut mango scallops, carpacio, Okonomyaki Brussel Sprouts, uni udon, and 2 rolls (which were bogo!) We thought everything was delicious. Our favorites were the scallops, capacious, and uni udon. We loved it and definitely would come back!“
“The sushi here was phenomenal! I’ve been vegetarian for three years now, and this sushi really hit the spot. It tasted just like the real deal! It’s a crime that this place was empty during lunch hour because it deserves more attention! I gave the restaurant 3 stars on atmosphere because the outside is super uninviting (we almost thought the restaurant was closed because) the windows are all covered up. But the inside is nice, and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend!Vegetarian options: All of it is vegan, so by default vegetarian.-“
“Vegetarians and vegans rejoice. This place has so many veggie options. I had the V2 Motto Special and my partner had the V4 Miso Ramen. Both were delicious! I liked mine because of the creamy broth and high quality toppings and my partner liked his because of the smoky/spicy flavor of the broth. Everything was made to order. Nice clean environment and they clearly put a lot of care into the place. Really amazing service too, the lady serving us was hilarious and so sweet! The condiments available were perfect. We will definitely be back to try the other 3 veggie ramen options. Zero complaints! So good! Thank you!“
“I went here for a business meeting with someone I was meeting for the first time. We both were amazed at the quality of the fish. Just on look alone, it looked like what you would see at a high priced sushi spot. They have 50% nigiri, so salmon is like $3.99 for 2 pieces. Tuna is $4.50 for 2 pieces and the most expensive is Otoro at like $15 for 2 pieces. Typically, a 50% off sushi sign would terrify me, and I would be lying if I said i wasn't skeptical the first time I went here but I assure you, the skepticism will be long gone after you see the sushi hit the table. It tastes incredible and it was so good that after going my first time, I went again 2 more times over the course of the next 2 weeks. This sushi spot is 50 minutes from where u live in Santa Monica and I plan to absolutely return soon. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND“
