My favorite is of course the OG Salty dozen or salty minis, but the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio is a close second. The little Salty minis in a jar make for a perfect gift. “When I first went to this bakery, they had just opened and still were figuring a few things out. My experience then was good. The French baguette was delicious and the other pastries were alright. Nothing to write home about though other than the baguette.

Yesterday, I decided to get another pastry from them, and it was the best pain au chocolate (chocolate croissant) that I have ever had. And I just came back from Paris. Also, the seating area has improved greatly and was adorable.

My wife got a fruit danish and the filling was so fresh and delicious it just put a big smile on both our faces. Hands down this is one of the best bakeries in San Diego County. If you have not tried it, or only tried out when they first opened you are missing out!

Finally, we tried the self-checkout, but the credit card reader wasn’t working. So we waited for five more minutes. She still ignored us. “Amazing pastries that melt in your mouth. This is proper French baking, not American style, so expect lots of butter in everything. It's not a sit-down place, just a counter where you buy pastries to go. The lines are long and things sell out quickly. Arrive early and bring something to read while you wait! The parking situation isn't great -- paid lot only. The lot gives you 15 minutes free but it's rare that you can get through the line that quickly, especially on Fridays. The lot across the street validates parking if you also buy from one of their shops/restaurants, but it gets crowded at lunch time.“

“I may be slightly biased... but Crafted Coastal Bakery is dangerously good.

What started as “let’s bake a few loaves for friends” has turned into a full-blown neighborhood cult. Sorry I'm not sorry to our neighbors who have to suffer through the smell of fresh baked sourdough, cookies, cinnamon rolls, scones, and other delicious baked goods every Saturday. I'm sure it's agonizing.

Everything is made with organic ingredients, slow fermented, and an unreasonable amount of care. No weird additives. No mystery oils (seriously - who puts soybean oil in bread?). Just flour, water, salt, starter, and a mild obsession with getting it right.

Warning:
• You will start judging other bread.
• You may plan your Saturday around pickup time.
• You might accidentally tell strangers about it.

10/10 would bake again.

“Like a few others here, I am a native New Yorker with a love for authentic and delicious rugulach with proper and freash ingredients.Chewy's rugulach is the best there is here on the west coast.I pick up the chocolate rugulach at the cookie bar at Whole Foods Market in El Segundo, and you should too! Just the most delicious snack one could ask for. Love the raspberry (not usually a Raspberry fan of anything) and the apricot as well!“

“The pastries here are out of this world! All of the ingredients are imported from France, which makes a huge difference because it’s less sugar and better quality than American ingredients. The seasonal menu is wonderful. I got the caramel apple butter chai iced latte and a pumpkin spice cinnamon roll as well as some cakes. Really recommend the chai I got. It’s my new favorite drink I’m obsessed. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable. They take pride in their food and take care of the space. They were super friendly and helpful. Everything is baked fresh daily and flavors for the rolled and cubed croissants change everyday, so you never know what you will get, but it’s guaranteed delicious. They are known for their rolled, square, and filled croissants, so be sure to try those. The chocolate croissants are excellent. Literally everything is so good you can’t go wrong. The cakes are life changing incredible. I recommend everyone try at least one. Some are gluten free so just ask. My favorites are le nuage, guava strawberry, le royal, vanilla bean tart, blackberry earl grey, mango passion fruit, the list goes on… They also have a whole wall of products from France and Europe. They even have Swedish candy! I got the Nina’s Marie Antoinette tea and Swedish candy and they were both so delicious. Love this place.“

“I LOVE this bakery. Literally such a hidden gem with the best pandesal. I go here whenever I am craving some pandan or ube pandesal. A whole tray of 10 rolls is only $5. Cash works best but it shouldn’t be a problem if you use card. Forgot to take pics of the pandesal before I ate it because it was so delicious. The butter is inside the pandesal so it makes for a nice little filling. We got 2 trays (1 pandesal, 1 ube) and it was a hit at the potluck. And only for $10!!!“

“We love love love getting birthday cakes for our kids from Siavash at this Vons bakery! Over the past three years, we’ve purchased 4 different cupcake “pull away” cakes and they are so wonderful! Incredibly delicious, beautifully designed, and so clearly made with care. We generally share our theme with Siavash and he makes something that wonderfully adds to the party theme - we’ve had a flower party, a racecar party, a rainbow party, etc. Highly recommend getting your cakes here for your next birthday party! “Trining’s is “in transition” and it shows. The front is a bit disorganized, but well divided into baked goods and ready-made take out products. The menu is hand-written on a wall-mounted white board (see pictures), but is easily understood and clearly legible.

Now, for the food—Very good! Loved the lumpia. The sweet chili sauce had just a hint of heat to it. Perfect!

We also got chicken adobo and pancit. Both were excellent. Since I ordered two combos to go, I was very careful not to tip the containers and tried to avoid contaminating the pancit with adobo sauce. All for naught. I must have leaned on the brakes a bit too heavily because the very fluid adobo sauce obeyed the laws of physics and colored both the pancit and lumpia. With dark, rich, peppery adobo flavoring. But—it was still great! The chicken adobo was tender and tasty, and the pancit was yummy, even though it tasted more like adobo than pancit. The lumpia, as I expected, was to die for. Crisp and crunchy with a hint of heat from the chili sauce. So good!

Well done Trining’s. Get your front together and I’ll be back. Can I bring some friends with me? I’ve got some East coast buddies who think egg rolls are the bomb. Your lumpia can easily blow that theory out of the water…“

“You know vacation time you always crave special and that's what I got to experience... The Mad For Cheesecake was so delightful. They have special varieties that you can pick and choose any and would be delighted. I experienced the matcha roll cake omg ..I just couldn't stop eating... the creme filling was smooth and very tasty. I had tried at least 5-6 varieties of cakes and was so happy that it was there in the party menu as well... by end of the party there was none left... it was so yummy... The strawberry boba tea became my kiddo's absolute favourite. I would highly suggest the place. The staff is patient and helpful.“
