“O.K., Coming to West Shore for last 20+ years. GF has been coming to West Shore since family cabin built in McKinney Creek in 1960. This place started off a little rocky a few years back but had definitely improved like a fine wine. I am a Carb boy and LOVE any variation of their Pizza's. GF non-Carb girl but still devours their pizza. Only suggestion (which is partially our fault) is to order extra Dates on their Date Pizza. Also, the Pickle salad could use some work (however, they refunded for that). Best deal on the West Shore and Tahoe City when it comes to price and quality. We usually go to Reno for dinner because of their quality choices, but the Dog and Bear holds up against the best that Reno has to offer. Service is 5 Star!!! FYI, I am a dog lover...Especially partial to Labs.”

“Sylva is an absolute gem. Just 14 months in, this intimate restaurant has already mastered the art of creating a memorable dining experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was flawless: attentive service, inviting atmosphere, and perfectly curated music that enhanced rather than distracted.

A special note on their accommodation of dietary restrictions: my girlfriend has a unique set of food allergies, and our server had one of their chefs personally mark up the menu to clearly denote which meals would be safe. This level of care and attention is remarkably rare. We've only experienced this at a handful of other restaurants.

Now, the food. Each dish was exceptional, but a few standouts deserve special mention: the sourdough focaccia bread was extraordinary on its own, but paired with the pork loin, it became something transcendent. The scallops were the best I've ever had, perfectly seared with incredible flavor. Their burger exceeded all expectations, and the confit duck leg was absolutely stunning.

We finished with the bread pudding, which may have been the highlight of an already outstanding meal. Fresh whipped cream, rich chocolate chunks, and expert execution made it unforgettable.

Sylva is doing everything right. This is destination-worthy dining that rivals anything you'd find in a major city. Highly recommended.”

“6 of us had a superb meal. The server was attentive, but forgot to mention the rolls had powdered garlic after I had told him I had a intolerance of Powdered and dried garlic.. I ordered the Lobster ravioli, which was an appetizer, for my dinner and a dinner sized portion was served. It was delicious and I devoured the whole dinner. Will come again when we are in the are.”

“Dislike people who just want something to complain about. The waitress was literally superwoman on Christmas eve, all by herself, handling different positions, she was doing the best she could and still kept her cool. Literally, there was only two other workers at the restaurant that day (the chefs), the waitress had said to me. Its obviously christmas eve. I'm not going to name the reviewer here, but they seem to have no heart, no compassion, no shame, and just rude to post a review like that...Just give them a break, it's not all about u. Great job to everyone there! Best food ever! Thanks for everything! Will be back!”

“This restaurant is fantastic! Lukas was one of the best servers I have come across. They have unique and flavorful twists on traditional Scandinavian dishes. And the manager Jeff sources local foods. The ahi appetizer in cones was a recommendation from Jeff and did not disappoint. Our Schnitzel was fabulous and so was the elk pot pie. It was quiet at the time we happened to be there so we got to chat a bit. We learned that the owner’s daughter is the pastry chef so we had to try the cheesecake. Also delicious. It was just a great dining experience.”

“Beautiful lakeside location with a nice big dog friendly patio, good draft beers brewed on-site and good pizza. The deep-dish pizza tasted better than it looked. We almost sent it back because the top and crust were pretty blackened, but I hate sending food back, so we persevered and it was better than expected. Not great, but not bad. It was $38 for a borderline burnt/mediocre medium pizza with 6 slices. My boyfriend and I each had 2 slices and 2 beers and were full. The pizza made for good leftovers as well. I enjoyed the two different draft beers I had; the amber type lager (can't recall the name) and a seasonal beer. The service in the bar area high tops was ok. Water is self-serve. They are on par with other local breweries and were very nice but nothing outstanding. Overall, a cool new-ish spot for a beer and an excellent view.”

“A bike event on Sunday turned into a cold, rainy, windy, miserable day. We went to The Dam Cafe for hot chocolate and got so much love! The owner not only welcomed the wet, muddy riders in, she put out space heaters and wrapped us in blankets! Amazing! I was so cold and was warmed both physically and emotionally by the kindness. The food and drink where delicious. Can’t say enough good things. A little cottage of heaven in Tahoe City!”
