“Defrankos was our first stop on our 12 day vacation from Canada. We got off the flyaway and walked down a few blocks with all of our luggage in tow. The staff were incredibly friendly, they gave us such a warm welcome to California… but beyond that the food was AMAZING. We are currently sitting at the airport going over our trip and all 3 of us agreed the very best food we had on this trip were our 3 subs from Defrankos. ❤️

“We are from out of state and stoped here for a late night dinner. The staff were very nice and fast compared to other pizza places. Place was a little small but it gave it a homie type of feel. I don’t know if it was just me being really hungry but that pizza was heavenly. We paid around $23 for medium pizza + soda. I overall would come here again next time I’m in cali.“

“The price is a little high for a 1 topping large, but when the quality of the cheese, toppings, and sauce are this good, it's worth it.

Especially the pepperoni, I dont know where they got it from, but I wish I had ordered the whole thing pepperoni.

The place is tucked away between a boxing center and Del Taco.

It has a green fake grass outside for people with dogs, and apparently, they donate money to shelters from their profits.

So is buying a pizza since part is donated to charity considered a tax deduction???? Kidding.

The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, the sauce is rich and flavorful, and the cheese – wow, always melted just right. “Funke does many things right, yet still manages somehow to feel both warm but not inviting at the same time.

It’s odd to me because I recently met Chef Evan Funke and he seemed to be a super nice and warm guy(and clearly very talented), yet his spirit seems to not shine as bright as it could in this particular environment.

A protege of Wolfgang Pucks from back in the day, he himself has become quite a celebrity chef with hundreds of thousands of followers on IG, and all the other things: book, tv appearances, etc…

I believe he’s considered the “Pasta God of California!”

While I have yet to try his other concepts, Mother Wolf (Hollywood) and Felix Trattoria(Venice Beach) Funke is his newest addition to his portfolio of eateries, if not a huge departure in menu from the other two; freshly made authentic Italian pastas and elevated pizzas and animal proteins with a thoughtful bar and wine list. It’s all very good.

The standouts are the squash blossoms and pizza for me, and olive oil infused craft cocktail, but I have yet to try the pastas so cannot comment.

I’m giving this a 4/5 because I can’t help but feel that Funke can’t decide what experience it truly wants to give you. As I said, it’s warm, but not necessarily inviting.

All that said, add it to your list for fine-dining in Beverly Hills. It’s worth going for the open-air rooftop bar and squash blossoms alone.“

“The service was great. The ambience was great. The pasta was amazing. The only thing I thought was just ok was the 24 oz. Porcini-Rubbed Bone-in Ribeye finished with 25yrs Aceto Balsamico. Not sure if it was the sauce but the steak was just ok but for the price I was anticipating the taste and quality to be like that of Chi Spacca next door. Overall the meal was great I just had high expectations.“

THE BEST SERVICE, I’VE EVER RECEIVED. The drinks were excellent and the food was so good. I recommend the wagyu meatballs. The dessert was so tasty. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order here. The piano bar is a musical nice touch. I really appreciated the attention to detail on the decor of the restaurant when it came to the music. All the employees were so generous, sweet and go above and beyond. Our waitress was the lovelies girl i forget her name but she looked white, blond, blue shirt, beige vest with a tie. “This was the first time I had dinner at Ospi. I had had lunch here when they first opened and thought it was ok. But I gave it another try, this time for dinner, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We had the fried mozzarella which came with a cream infused tomato sauce which was delicious. The meatballs and kale salad were winners as well. I normally like Neopolitan style pizza so was a bit skeptical that they served thin crust pizzas but that was absolutely delicious as well. We skipped on ordering the ice cream sundae with marshmellows and regretted it when we saw another table digging when while we were leaving. I plan to come back for sure.“

“I went with a large group and I think everyone but me like their entrées way better than I did. I really think maybe I just made a wrong taste choice. I went for a mushroom ravioli with a cream sauce. I have to say the service was excellent. It’s a cute little restaurant. You probably wanna make a reservation if you’re going there, the bread is incredible. It’s so so yummy. I did enjoy the appetizers. I was not impressed though by the Caesar salad I was with five other people and they all loved their trace. I think I just made a poor choice. I would recommend it and even for a romantic night or dinner.“
