“I absolutely love this Subway location! The ladies who work in the mornings are always so kind, welcoming, and helpful. One employee in particular always makes my sandwiches, and I specifically ask for her because she does such an amazing job. She once told me that she always makes every sandwich with love because she wants it to be perfect and make every customer happy. That really shows in the quality of her work. My sandwiches are always fresh, neatly made, and exactly how I order them. Great customer service like this is the reason I keep coming back.“

“Rolled into this Subway in West Hill not expecting anything crazy — it’s Subway after all. But you know what? When a chain does the basics right, it deserves some love.

I grabbed a Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki 6-inch and a Celsius. Sandwich came out exactly how you want it: fresh veggies, warm bread, that sweet onion sauce pulling everything together. Simple, but satisfying.

Here’s the curveball — no restroom inside. Instead, they handed me a giant wooden stick with “Subway” written on it (classic) and sent me next door. Honestly, I braced for the worst, but the bathroom was super clean — bright, tidy, and no funky smell. Way better than I expected.

Inside the shop it’s straight-up Subway: cookie case calling your name, chips lined up, soda fountain ready to go. Service was quick, the guy behind the counter kept it moving, and the vibe was low-key. Outside, they’ve got tables under the trees if you’d rather sit in the shade and eat fresh.

Bottom line — nothing fancy, no surprises, but they hit every note I came for. Fast service, good food, clean bathroom situation. That’s a 5-star Subway stop in my book.“

“Stopped by for an afternoon sandwich. This is a nice little shop with sandwiches and Vietnamese food.

“The description of Ike's to me made it sound like Fat Sal's and I was excited. Truth of the matter is Ike's holds its own, and it didn't disappoint. It has a great menu mixed with Meat and Veggie options. The Mrs. and I split and highly recommend the Captain Carl and the Meatless Mike (I concur "best vegan meatball in America", and Our 3 y/o gives the grilled cheese 👍👍. Our 9y/o swears it was the best grilled cheese she ever had.“

“Mendocino Farms is definitely one of my favorite spots! The first thing you notice is how incredibly fresh every single ingredient is. No matter what you pick from the menu, the food is consistently delicious, high-quality, and super fresh.
I also have to mention their Chicken Farro Soup it is absolutely magnificent! It’s hearty, flavorful, and the ultimate comfort food. It’s one of those dishes that keeps me coming back again and again.

“This is Mike.
Mike takes selfies like he's never seen a camera before. 😂
But taking selfies is not what Mike gets paid to do.
Mike was kind enough to do this for me because I asked him to.
And the reason that I asked him to is because of what Mike does.
Mike does sandwich artistry and customer service.
And he does them well.

And when I say sandwich artistry, I mean that I watched him make my sandwich, and watching how he placed every piece of produce onto the sandwich with care and intentionality, it prompted me to ask him how long he had been working here.

He replied that he had been working at Subway since 2018, so approximately 8 years.
I eagerly let him know that his 8 years of experience shows in the care that he takes in making the sandwich. Watching him, it's evident to see that he takes great care in making sure that each sandwich component is placed proportionately and evenly.

Literally, like a piece of artwork.

Very kind, very considerate, and once he realized that I had mobility issues, he definitely went above and beyond the call of duty to offer me assistance. From bagging, to holding the door open for me, he made sure to have an open hand the entire time.

So if you're in the area, and you're hungry...

Or even if you're not hungry, to be honest....

I would definitely recommend coming here between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., during the weekdays, and anytime during the weekends.

And if you end up getting a couple of footlongs, you might be in for a great surprise.

Just after 4:00 p.m., I ambulated into Subway and was greeted by Sandwich artist Victor. Victor has been there about 3 years less than Mike, but he's just as proficient, an equally as hospitable. Please introduce me to the Doritos Footlong Nachos.
(I'm not going to repeat the secret sandwich sauce combo but Victor... I didn't even have time to take a picture of it)“

“Very happy with my first experience here, clean store when I walked in, my food was already bagged and ready to go and when I got home I was quite pleased with my sandwich. If you’re looking for a great hot sandwich stop by and give em a try!“

“Let me begin with the positives such as a clean area to eat outdoor or indoor and the cooking area is clean. The lentil soup is vegetarian and super savory with the dill and seasonings. The soujouk burrito is delicious with great tortillas. Please don't change the tortillas. The green Greek salad is fresh and tasty. The coffee is smooth and perfect warn temperature. The macha was perfect as well. I believe what makes this a place I will come back to are the organic good quality ingredients they use and the attention to flavors. It's important to cook with care. They do cook with care and it shows. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
The negative for me is the parking and plastic utensils. Personally, I don't like plastic. However it will not deter me from coming back.“

“Pockets absolutely deserves some recognition. My family and I stopped in and ordered the Ultimate Steak Sandwich and the Don's Chicken Sandwich, and honestly both were some of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time.
The Ultimate Steak Sandwich was loaded with tender, juicy tri-tip, perfectly sautéed peppers and onions, and not one but two kinds of melted cheese all piled onto a toasted sesame roll. The combination of cheeses took it to another level — rich, gooey, and perfectly balanced with the meat and peppers. Every bite had great flavor and the meat was cooked just right. The Don's Chicken Sandwich was equally impressive — crispy, perfectly seasoned chicken topped with fresh avocado and crispy bacon. Not the kind of avocado that's been sitting around either — you could tell it was fresh.
We added fries to both orders and they were exactly what fries should be: crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy. A great complement to both sandwiches.
The place itself is small and cozy — just a few tables — but the parking is easy which is always a plus. What really stood out though was the owner. He was running the whole operation by himself and somehow kept everything moving quickly and got our food out fresh and hot without any wait. That kind of dedication shows, and you can taste it in the food.
Pockets is the kind of local gem that deserves way more attention than it gets. If you're looking for a seriously good sandwich in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. We'll definitely be back.“

Yesterday (May 11), however, Pam made me feel unwelcome. I went to the same Subway location (Nordoff/Balboa cross streets in Northridge) twice, first at about past 4pm and half past 8 in the evening the second time, having been in the area on that day. Pam served me on both occasions. The second time I was there, she made an inappropriate comment: “You’re still here?” I responded: “Aren’t you glad that by being here and patronizing Subway business, I am giving you job security?” The business that Subway offers should not only be about food service, but also customer service. Subway staff like Pam should not act with overfamiliarity to friendly regulars. There is a fine line between customer and service staff relationship.“

“The only bad experience I have had at this location is when they have too many customers waiting and too few people behind the counter. I will admit, I avoided this location for a few years of living in the area because it just looked grungy from the outside. But then after a few years I finally tried it and the food has literally never disappointed. BUT...there has been a change lately, and not a good one. It's not the store's fault but the prices of everything on the menu are high now and the only way you can get a good deal is to order on the app. Now, the problem with app ordering from just about any restaurant is that they usually don't put enough ingredients on. Part of the beauty of Subway is that you can tell them how much or little you want. For instance if you want more tomatoes or just a slight bit of sauce, there is not a way to ask for that on the app. But you can save some money, as much as 30% off a sandwich or even combo meal with app ordering versus going in and giving your order to the counter staff. They also have BOGO or B2G1 (buy two, get a freebie) offers - and if you buy an expensive footlong, you can get a second for nothing.“
