I am absolutely blown away by our experience here and honestly can't understand why this place wasn't packed on a Sunday afternoon. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on a completely different level from any other Korean BBQ restaurant I've visited.

We were greeted by the owner as soon as we arrived, and after mentioning it was our first time, he gave us a personal tour of his establishment. The service from both the owner and the staff remained incredibly attentive throughout our entire meal; we always felt catered to. In a move that truly sets them apart, they cook the meat for you at your table! The owner even personally checked on us, teaching us the traditional way to eat with lettuce wraps (ssam) and encouraging us to use all the different condiments and sides for the full Korean experience.

The restaurant operates with a self-serve buffet for all the sides and raw meat, allowing you to get as much as you want. We chose the $45 option, which I highly recommend. The meat was exceptionally high-quality, and the boneless rib BBQ was a definite 10/10. For this level of service and food quality, the pricing is very fair and feels like a bargain.

The ambiance adds to the charm. The restaurant opened in 1992, and stepping inside feels like traveling through time. The vintage vibe is well-preserved and adds a layer of authenticity to the meal.

“We were travelling thru Glendale, and came across this place. Such a gem. Wife and I had a light lunch splitting a Greek salad & Pita, which was absolutely excellent. Fresh greens, top quality feta, olives, onions and tomatoes. And the dressing - Not sure exactly what it was, but it matched perfectly. Also, we able to bring our dog into the patio, and all had a wonderful alfresco meal. “The food is fire! The service is mediocre, and the atmosphere is trash (literally). There was a city trash can right outside the restaurant door overfilled with garage and reeking of piss. As for inside of the restaurant, it is very small and crammed. You’re almost standing on top of other people as you wait in line to order or wait for your food to be ready.

As for the food… wow!! 10 out of 10. I ordered the Koren fried chicken (sweet & spicy) and a side of steamed rice. I cannot wait to go back and order this again. I killed the entire meal and did not leave anything behind. My wife ordered the Spicy Mayo Chicken bowl and the Fried Chicken Dumplings. The portion size was huge! She could not finish it. The spicy sauce was too spicy and overpowered the flavor of the chicken, rice, and veggies. Rating this bowl a 4 out of 10 on the spicy overkill.

The prices here are AMAZING! We only spent $25 for our food, drove to Manhattan beach, and enjoyed it while watching the sunset. Our food was still hot after the 35 min drive.“

“I’m visiting a new area and I took a chance and ordered from DoorDash. I ordered a half a rack of ribs and even though they came very odd looking there was an extremely healthy portion. (There were not a lot of rib bones, but a lot of the bottom portion of the spare ribs, but I did not mind because it was a generous serving) The barbecue sauce was outstanding and all of the side dishes were delicious. “I went to CheongGiWa with my family of four and ordered raw sirloin, raw galbi, and cold noodles. Ssam vegetables and various Korean side dishes were served as basic, and all the food we ordered was delicious. Both the owner and the staff were kind, and the atmosphere was bright and good because it was remodeled.“

“I’ve been hearing about this place a lot recently — it’s basically Korean BBQ but with seafood. Came on a weekday with a group of 8, and while it’s usually busy, we grabbed a table in the back patio so we didn’t have to wait too long.

We went with the Captain Set and the Crew Set. Both came with banchan and cold Korean noodles, which were super refreshing alongside all the grilled seafood. Everything is cooked over coals, which gives it a nice smoky flavor that really brings the seafood to life. I even tried hagfish for the first time — definitely unique, but glad I gave it a shot.

Price-wise, it feels a little high for what you get. At the end of the day it’s just seafood, so it didn’t really fill me up the same way a KBBQ set would. But the quality was good, and I liked that the meal finished with a hot noodle soup — comforting and a nice way to end the spread.

“Super tasty! King Yubu is a little hidden gem kind of place. Really delicious Korean style sushi. Think like little pockets with all kinds of fillings on rice. I got the Signature King Yubu, the spicy pork belly and the unagi Yubu with a spicy tuna and tempura sushi roll. All really good we also tried the kimchi loaded fries really big portion definitely a shareable portion. It was corn cheese with kimchi on the seasoned fries you can get different toppings like fried chicken or bulgogi but just the fries by themselves were super good so we went without all the extra. Definitely coming back to try the other options on the menu looks like new updates and ideas coming to the menu all the time. Great job chef.“
