“I recently took my daughter to Seabutter in Westlake Village, and we had a great experience. She ordered the miso soup, Sunset Roll, and the yellowtail with scallions hand roll, and everything was fresh and high quality.

It’s a great little sushi spot with an excellent sushi bar. Just be aware that seating inside is limited, and some of the tables are pretty small, so it fills up quickly during peak hours. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but that’s pretty common for good sushi these days.

If you’re looking for quality sushi, I’d definitely recommend Seabutter. If you’re looking for a restaurant with a bigger atmosphere or a place to linger for the evening, you may want to choose somewhere else.“

You can tell how much pride they take in their work with every plate that comes out. Tempura was a bit greasy, miso soup salty and dressing on Bento box was not the traditional type, it tasted like store bought dressing. Yellowtail was good but didn’t like the sweeter sauce they put under it. Again it wasn’t bad but I don’t think I’ll return.“

“Saturday afternoon (yes, I know, ramen in a heatwave no judgment please 😂). I’m new to the area, so I asked Claude to recommend a spot, and it pointed me here.

Walked in and used their convenient self-checkout to place a to go order spicy beef ramen for myself. I was greeted by the sweet and amazing Eric, and honestly, I don’t think I waited more than 5 minutes for my food. Beyond impressed with the speed.

The packaging was on point, and the ramen itself was so flavorful. I could’ve gone spicier (I can handle the heat!), but that’s a me thing, not a them thing.

“Love the food here they never disappoint me“

“I’ve been going to Sumo Sushi in Newbury Park for well over 18 years, typically on a weekly or biweekly basis, and I can confidently say it has been one of the most consistently good restaurants in the area.

Over all those years, whether dining in or ordering takeout, I have never had a significant issue with the food, service, or quality. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, the food is consistently fresh, and my orders have been prepared correctly. There’s a reason I have continued coming back for nearly two decades.

I’ve noticed some recent negative reviews that appear to involve orders placed through third-party food delivery services. I think it’s important to distinguish between an issue with the restaurant and an issue that occurs after the food leaves the restaurant. Delivery delays, handling, missing items after pickup, or food arriving cold can involve the delivery service and driver and are not necessarily a reflection of the restaurant itself.

Based on 18+ years of firsthand experience, Sumo Sushi has earned my trust. Restaurants can have an occasional off day, but consistency over nearly two decades says far more to me than a handful of negative delivery-related reviews. Sumo Sushi continues to be one of my go-to restaurants in Newbury Park, and I highly recommend giving them a try—especially dining in and experiencing the food and service firsthand.“

“We will not return. SOME staff is just too volatile & moody & rude. We have been going here often. The last straw was last Monday at 4:30 pm when the rude Korean waitress Sylvia (?) refused to seat us in the closest booths ( "No those are for employees "🤔) and then refused us another booth because we were only two people. Mind you we've sat at every booth many times every time because of our back issues. Even though I have a cane, she often makes us wait when the place is clearly dead. The only pleasant staff is Manny, Vanessa & the nice female Hispanic bus person. But Sylvia & the very gruff Chinese woman act like they are doing you a huge favor. I have overlooked their rudeness before, but this was it for us. Perhaps she doesn't like people line me with canes. We will go to Kyoto instead or Hai Sushi we do not need to be treated rudely.“

Our usual place was closed. So we decided to give Go Fish a try. Definitely not disappointed! Fish was fresh and tasty. Rolls were creative and delicious. Portions weren’t skimpy. The reason for the half star deduction: it is a bit pricey. That said, we’ll definitely be back.“

We have eaten there many times over the years, as their food is always DELICIOUS!!! I had their Miso Soup, Spring Greens Salad, 911 Roll, Lobster Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Fresh Water Eel, Spicy Scallop Hand Roll, Garlic Edamame, Yellowtail Sushi, and Salmon Sushi. “A plethora of sushi places in this area of town. So I went to the one that had the slightly highest rating. Man, did this nor disappoint! 5 star experience. Staff was welcoming and all smiles. Sushi chefs were laughing and chatting with guests as they went about their master craft. Food presentation was A+ and freshness and taste were right on point. Perfectly paced service as well. While I was there what must have been the owners' family were eating and laughing. Just a general wonderful vibe. Perfect addition to my weekend away.“

“Wanted to try something new in the area and stumbled upon this place for dinner. Overall it was great as there was a huge menu on the wall and the place was well decorated with lanterns with sakura trees. It’s a place where you would come to for something quick. I dined-in since traveling with a bowl of hot udon isn’t ideal. Service was great!

I ordered the Udon with Tempura Shrimp and asked the person at the cashier what they recommend as an appetizer and he stated that the Potstickers were a usual go-to which is what I got. The price for the udon was fairly priced, but maybe not for the potstickers. However, I do understand the economy so it’s reasonable, I guess…

The udon noodles were nicely textured and had 2 pieces of narutomaki (maybe not enough in my opinion). Wasn’t sure what the other things in the udon was but it melted quick. The tempura shrimp are similar to the ones I get at Costco. I believe I was 75% full after eating that complete meal which is a good percentage.“

“They serve up the best savory chicken bowl ever. It is not an overly syrup sweet sauce but savory and soooo good. the veggies are warm and soft. if you want crunchy and sweet, go elsewhere. The flavor here is unique and delicious and they have never changed in like at least 26 years since I started going. Love it. Great for to go or dine in. 🥰“

“This is probably the best sushi in the conejo valley. It is sooooo good!!!!! Amazing food, amazing staff and phenomenal chefs. We came in as a party of 6, the restaurant was packed and they put together a table for us in just a few minutes. Everyone was so nice, the chef had great recommendations and even came to check on us and see if we liked everything. I can’t say enough good things about this place and have been craving it ever since!! 10/10“

“I’m so glad I found this place. Yes it is the BEST sushi in Conejo Valley. The chef knows his fish. We got most of the specials on the board which were mostly from Japan. I will say that it was expensive but so worth it. Maybe stick to the nigiri on the menu and it won’t cost so much. But I’m so glad I do not have to drive into LA for great sushi. I’m a fan.“

“I went last night for dinner. My friend and I were the last ones and had our own tappan table. I don’t remember the chefs name but he was extremely good! Very talented great personality but most of all the food he made was absolutely incredible!! We had the shrimp and the filet mignon And I have never ever ever tasted them so good before there I’ve been going to Cho Cho San since they first opened And they are always good yes but This was way better than I’ve ever had. This cook is amazing. I wish I could remember his name. He was amazing.!!“

“Waba grill is one of those places where you are bound to be happy with a rice plate.My favorite go to is the half chicken and half beef plate. Both meats are too good to choose from.They also have a new value menu which makes some of the plates a bit more affordable. You are bound to spend about $10+ but it is worth it.Make sure to get extra waba sauce on the side as you may need it.“
