The inside of the place has a pretty standard vibe as well as the service--nothing too special--but the cool part is that you can watch them prepare your bowl right in front of you, which adds a nice touch to the experience.

“This place was one of the best food place that I went int Colorado. I went in during rainy day. They still welcomed me even if I was smelly and soaked with water. “Have come here 2x this spring, once for lunch with a friend and once for dinner with the family (5 of us). Had a really good experience both times, both food and service. It was not crowded and felt old school in the best way possible. I had Panang curry and Pad Thai and both were really good. “Came here a little while ago for a little date night. Place is pretty solid, not quite outstanding like many of the reviews here seem to state though. Some of the rolls are a bit rice heavy, but are creative and have good flavor. Fish quality was above average.“

“Such a gem of a restaurant! The korean lady serving us was so sweet. We had questions regarding our dietary restrictions and she was so patient with us and explained everything thoroughly.
We like to avoid mirin/sake and cross contact with meat when eating sushi and she explained that they only use vinegar to season their rice and their meat and fish stations completely separate. 10/10 just for that!

“I recently discovered this hidden gem of a sushi restaurant tucked away in a strip mall next to Starbucks and that shares a parking lot with Taco Bell in Highlands Ranch. From the outside, it’s easy to miss, But once you step inside, you’re in for a treat!

The menu is massive, offering an impressive variety of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and Japanese dishes. What stands out is the freshness of the food and the high-quality ingredients. The sushi was some of the best in the area, beating the regular spots in Highlands Ranch.

Our server was delightful —kind, attentive, and very helpful in navigating the menu. They made excellent recommendations and made us feel well taken care of.

The only downside is the atmosphere, which feels a bit blah and could use some updating to match the quality of the food. However, the restaurant just started offering beer, wine, and sake, and plans to expand their liquor menu soon, which is a promising!

Despite the unassuming location and lackluster ambiance, the incredible food and top-notch service make this my new favorite sushi spot in Highlands Ranch. If you’re looking for fresh, delicious sushi that outshines the competition, don’t let the location deter you—this place is great!“

“This restaurant was so yummy! I've been wanting to try it for a while. We went on a Friday night and from what I can see once they nail down some processes, this place will be so good. The waiters were super nice, but for example, we stood at the front door for nearly 10 min before someone came over to us. Once we were finally sat and ordered the food came surprisingly quickly.. for the most part. My husband ordered something from the rice kitchen, while I ordered a ramen bowl. My ramen came out nearly 15 min after his entree. I'd definitely recommend the food from this place and am hopeful that they can solidify some things and be great!“

The wife & I shared chef's Mango Chicken Salad, perfect for an appetizer, especially paired with a roasted Miso Eggplant, served elegantly atop a long banana leaf, nice presentation! We were full after splitting a Yakisoba & a few rolls! Try the Fugi Roll for a slightly larger combination bite (caviar garnishment). The fish was very fresh & clean, and the restaurant very well kept. Amazing service. Memorable date night!“

“I've had hundreds of meals from Sugami at this point and I felt like I need to throw them back some love. I'm picky. I've had meals from nearly every local restaurant in the area and Sugami is my favorite for the price point. They use high quality ingredients, everything is always cooked fresh, and they provide very generous portions. I skimmed through the reviews and want to clarify just a few things. Sugami is definitely a takeout place, they don't have a very large interior. Finally, I want to say they still sell homemade fried dumplings so I'm not sure what was happening with that reviewer.“

“I love mugi ramen, i got into ramen about a year ago but my brother lived in japan and can be a tough ramen critic and he loves this place. i recommend either the tonkotsu ramen (add chili oil of course) or the spicy shoyu. the staff is great and has treated me to desert at times that i don’t even order it. i love it here, great vibes, great workers, and especially GREAT FOOD!“
