We got the squid ink pasta and the filet. You could 110% taste the food was high quality and fresh but it missed the mark for us on taste. It lacked so much flavor. If you’re looking for a good simple meal with 5 star service, this is the place but if you’re looking for dishes that the chef cares about flavor and excitement, this restaurant lacks in that. It was a good experience over all but we were just disappointed because there’s so much potential for it to be a restaurant where you go back specifically for that one dish because it tasted so good.“

“I’d give the Colombian empanadas a 3.5/5. The flavor was solid and you can tell they’re made with care, especially the seasoned filling and crispy corn dough. They were satisfying overall, but a little more seasoning and a crispier texture would’ve taken them to the next level. Still a good option if you’re craving something traditional and comforting.“

“Very quiet restaurant in hotel lobby. Service was very friendly and attentive. Slightly overpriced for quality of food. Menu was very limited, with really the option for dinner being a burger, taco, or turkey sandwich. Food was very good and not greasy. However, it was expensive for the quality.“

The specials board offers new dishes every day for breakfast and lunch and they are incredible every time. Super creative, thoughtful, fresh and high quality. “Decent drinks and food. Calamari is great for a bar. They haven't had the correct ingredients for drinks all week. Small things like cherries, orange bitters, orange peel, etc. Also run out of normal brands a lot.
Decent enough but a little pricey for not being able to get a correctly made drink.“

“John Davenport restaurant is a great spot for a quiet dinner and drinks. The view of New Haven is spectacular. I highly recommend the Jungle bird cocktail at Bar 19. The strip steak and fries were very good. It's a little expensive and the dinner menu is small, but the ambiance is worth it. Service was excellent.“

So today I gave 4 stars for service and hope the lovely professional lady that is normally there see this because I come here all the time for the past 20 years and never had bad service or food. today I called 6 times because on work days I call get my food and go to work and no one answered but since I left early I decided to stop and see if they were open anyway. I get in there the damn girl act like she knows no English when I asked if phone was broke then tells me she busy. I said how is she busy when it was literally 3 people in there. 2 at a table and the one sitting at counter who had nerve to tell me she by herself and she busy, mean while they are talking laughing so he must of been her friend. I was so angry. It's not her business or money so she didn't care.“

“Dangle's is a black-owned business in well established downtown. The restaurant is nice and quaint giving you the feels of being connected to the owner and staff. The food was delicious - delivered hot and fresh. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It behooves anyone reading this to try this place out. You won't be disappointed.“

Caesar salad is also a huge portion and can be topped with an add-on of chicken, salmon and even tofu. There are vegetarian options as well.“

I love to do a wine flight (3 2 oz. glasses) and do a blind tasting with a partner, then try to match them to the wine based off of the tasting notes. We also tried the chocolate lava cake, which was decent and a good pairing with the drinks. Service was attentive and excellent. A wonderful experience overall, and an underrated gem in the neighborhood.“

“3 of us came to watch my granddaughter play in a basketball tournament at SCSU. We had Googled 'dive bars' on the way. We were not disappointed. The neighborhood atmosphere was evident. From the 3 friendly patrons who greeted us to the genial bartender. A 'Cheers' atmosphere. The 'melt in your mouth' burgers were the best ever. And we were pleasantly amazed with the bill! “We sat at the bar for a quick bite to eat on our visit to see Yale. Our bartender was so friendly and welcoming, he made you feel like we were friends for years! He made a fresh batch of bloody Mary mix and it was one of the best I've had! My salmon tacos were ok. Salmon was a little dry but I appreciated the crispy edges. I did take the tenders recommendation to add a little salt and lemon which helped. My husbands ceasar salad with chorizo was very tasty, he also enjoyed the wide variety of more unique draft options! This place was great and just down our alley!“
