“My husband surprised me with a Princess cake. I mentioned I’d love to try one after seeing it in a baking show. He searched online and Marjolaine’s was the only place he could find. He drove over an hour to pick it up and it was well worth the drive! We just picked up a Dacquoise. This one was a request from our daughter. We tried a smaller version that was in the case. It was absolutely delicious! So light and airy and the flavor was divine! We are driving this cake all the way to NC and are 100% certain that our daughter will be thrilled ! We are heading back in the beginning of April for a Marjolaine for our daughter in law. It is well worth the trip!!!“

“So I went over a friends house for dinner and he had a Lupi's Bread on the table, Looked great. Tasted better. He told me about this little bakery in New Haven at 169 Washington Ave Lupi's Marchigiano Bakery. I went the next day for another Bread where I met Larry Lupi a true gentleman. His grandfather started the Bakery in 1900 when he came over from Italy, and now is being run by Larry and his brother Peter. So If you want to taste a little piece of heaven, stop by Lupi's and for a few bucks you can.

“I enjoy the authentic Guatemalan coffee, the bread, they go great with my coffee. Enjoy Authentic Guatemalan tamales, reminds me of when my grandmother made them, the chuchitos, they are like mini corn tamales and great with coffee too. Definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Guatemalan food. They also sell beautiful souvenirs.“

“Ok if you’re looking for some bougie patisserie this isn’t it HOWEVER, this place has the character, charm and personal touch that has been all but destroyed in our culture. Andrew is the best. His baked goods are a lost art and so is the feel of his shop. It is as unique and retro as he is and that is a GOOD thing. He’s one of the few left that knows his customers by name as they walk in and strive to make sure everyone is treated well sure he takes weirdly long vacations and leaves hilarious messages on his phone. But that’s the appeal of this bakery. They make Swedish pastries and bread that you can’t find anywhere. But above all it’s Andrew and his family run bakery. If you want Impersonal Dunkin baked goods baked in a factory in who knows where this ain’t it. Bread and Basket is like visiting Main Street USA that my grandparents reminisced about.Give them a try!!!“

“I got a cake from here 2 years and it was exactly what I wanted (the heart cake). My husband loved the taste and kept mentioning it when it got closer to his birthday this year so I, of course, had to get another one. It was AMAZING! Everyone loved it and a few said it was the best cake they’d ever had. Yellow cake with cheesecake filling and buttercream- highly recommend. Steve was also great with communicating and working through my indecisiveness about the design.“

Saw so many examples of exquisite and imaginative cake designs created for display that are truly ingenious and often based on the clients most treasured experiences. She created my own wedding cake for my first wedding and it went on to win awards for that design as well. For those who are Cinderella or Elizabethan devotees, her created castles far outweigh those found in your favorite fairy tales.“

“Elizabeth's Bakery now has some GF items. Today I tried their GF blueberry muffin & brownie. The muffin is amazing! It didn't taste GF at all. Lots of blueberries, not overly sweet like some GF baked goods; great texture -not gummy at all; and a wonderfully big muffin like it's gluten containing counterpart. The brownie is soooo fudge! It is not gummy at all. Tastes just like a gluten containing brownie (well at least what I remember them tasting like). These are so much better than any GF brownie mix & better than any recipe I have made at home. It's been years since I have been able to purchase a great tasting GF item at a bakery. The drive here is down congested narrow roads with limited space for your turns. Stay alert a lot of low 12 ft bridges surrounding the customer. Follow trucker GPS but don’t rely on it. When you see the customer, You can make a right at the light or go up to the next street and make a right and another right and follow that path around to the yard, whichever’s is easier. Once on the yard, a lot of space to dock. Easy check in. Quick loading. Extremely professional staff.

Leaving the facility you will encounter the same congested narrow streets on your way out. Follow the path the customer gate tells you. You should make a left shortly after going around the curve. To get back to the interstate, make a right at the stop sign and follow that street down maybe 1/2 mile than make another left at the light. Follow that street all the way down and when you see the grocery store on the right, make a left at the light. You will see a sign that tells you which way to get back to the interstate. The last turn to get to the interstate can be tricky. You will come into a light that has strange look 4 way stop and signs that point to the interstate (can be misleading) but Dont go into the neighbourhood that the GPS will try and advise you to go down. Make a wide left turn on the street and you will see the entrance to the interstate maybe 1/4 of mile on the right hand side.
