“We had an early dinner before attending a performance at the Ford’s Theater. We made reservations through Open Table and were immediately seated upon arrival. The service was great. Our server recommended several dishes that we loved. There were abundant vegan and vegetarian options. Chilorio de Res tacos were mouthwatering as were the Hongos en Milto ones. In fact, every dish we ordered was delicious. One dish (chilaquiles) never arrived from the kitchen but we were pressed for time so we opted to have it taken off our bill instead of waiting for them to prepare it separately. Dessert, Cafe de Olla, was phenomenal. Pics are only some of the items we tried. Great atmosphere for date night and a milestone birthday celebration. Highly recommend.“

“Dining in DC, is paying for ambiance. Pascual was a wonderful ambiance in learning the finer elements of Mexican cuisine.

Guacamole was tasty but it wasn't until I built the perfect bite with the braised lamb neck did I appreciate the understatement of its balance. My friend very much enjoyed her Octopus, she got crispy she'll to accompany her dish.

The bunuelo was a nice finish, but there was the option of flan w/chocolate. The flan was good but had bitters from dark chocolate that gave the taste of espresso.

I would not dine here again personally, but it makes for a really nice backdrop of a lovely dinner.

Vegetarian options: Seafood allergy, a lot of possible cross contamination, limits your choices. However the choices are still very delicious.“

“A well kept secret in the city. It is a restaurant without much pretension, which offers good quality Mexican food with careful service. The space is small, so it is ideal to go as a couple or in small groups. The price-quality ratio is good.“

“Just returned from a visit to Mexico, and had dinner at La Vida which brings some of the greatest MX ambience to DC. The food in MX is so varied and La Vida echos that. Very tasty tacos with seafood and beef for two of us and black mole on quesadillas for another guest, with a huge selection of drinks to go along. “I spent a couple hours here because my flight was delayed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My Cosmos were perfectly pink. (If they’re clear and red they’re not made correctly) and only $6 during Happy Hour. I’m not a big fan of Mexican food, Cosmos I ordered the Bora Bora marinated chicken without the tortilla over rice. It was delicious! The chicken was so tender and tasty and all the flavors were wonderful. I also enjoyed watching the surfers on TV,. The waves relaxed me instead being stressed out over a delayed flight. The takeout boxes were also super cute and easy to take out, which we did at a plaza with tables next door. Came here because my girlfriend is celiac, but left impressed with the food.“

That said, I was surprised that there weren’t any chips, salsa, or small bites offered before the meal to hold you over. For the price point, I expected a little more, both in terms of portion and overall experience. While I understand the cost is tied to the waterfront location, it still felt a bit steep for what you get.
Overall, it’s a pleasant spot with good food and a great view, but the value could be better. You'll leave happy but not satisfied.“

“This is absolutely one of my favorite places to go! The Roost was my go to during the pandemic with tons of outdoor seating. Since it was in my neighborhood we frequented a lot. The staff watched my little one practically grow up there! It became our meeting place and neighborhood watering hole. Quick and efficient and some of the best food and customer service! We’ve moved from the area but always stop by when in town because it feels like home!“

The chef’s creative risks paid off, shout out to the olive oil corn cake which might be my favorite dessert of all time. The only place points were lost is the music :( the constant, heavy bass was annoyingly distracting. “I ate at Los Caballeros during a solo trip to Washington, DC, and this was by far the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. It’s such a quaint little spot tucked away closed to the Capital.

I went around 3 PM, and there was only one other party inside, which made it feel cozy and relaxed. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the seafood enchiladas, which were absolutely fantastic and perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The rice that came with the meal was excellent, and their homemade salsa was on point.

I also ordered two frozen strawberry margaritas, and they were incredible — super slushy rather than icy, just the right consistency. Everything about this meal impressed me. I even recommended Los Caballeros to a friend visiting DC the following week.

“The first time I visited this bar, I knew I had to return. The music was great; kudos to the DJ, he was playing reggaeton, Caribbean, and other popular music. I felt like the DJ read the room well.

I went back a second time the following week, but the vibes weren’t the same. The second DJ didn’t read the room as well and I ended up leaving after 30 minutes.“
