“We had a great experience tonight! With two littles, they knowingly placed us in front of the fish tank to help with entertainment. Our server was speedy, kind, and had honest and helpful recommendations for the food. Everything was fast, fresh, and delicious. “Our favorite place! We go a few times a month for NE steamers, and occasionally a few other items! Today we both had NE steamers, I had a bowl of Manhattan clam chowder and my boyfriend had whole belly fried clam plate. The chowder was delicious. I have had Manhattan chowder a few other places but this was chuck full of clams and ingredients! Our server told me they make all chowder and soups homemade. Next time I’ll try NE chowder, only reason I didn’t was because I can’t have flour and most have that in it My boyfriend also loved his clams and we both always love the steamers. They have a fish market also so you can get something to take home and cook for the next evening! We always sit at the bar. All servers are friendly and polite. We have been there tons of times and always had excellent service and fabulous food! Prices are very reasonable and we highly recommend Captain Brian’s! They are closed on Sundays . Love love this gem of a place!!“

“We were able to get seats at the bar. We enjoyed ourselves. The bartender Jen was great. It was busy and she was on her toes as she was the only bartender but made sure everyone was taken care of. The expeditor was impressive. His name was Brody. It was great to see a young man being so attentive to what he was doing and making sure that the staff knew what was going on. Our food was delicious.“

“First time ever going here but the food is AMAZING! It was so good! Probably the best seafood boil I’ve had. Some of the down sides about my experience was the atmosphere can be very overwhelming. It’s REALLY loud in there. Too much happening at one time. There is a lady that comes to your table and has you posed for pictures which was really awkward but on the plus side you get a free picture. Also our waitress which I think was named Cynthia, was not great. We ordered an appetizer that we never got until probably 20 minutes after our food, we barely saw her ever, had to get her attention when she passed by to get drink refills. Anything we asked her to bring us we had to wait minimum 15 minutes to get if not longer. I would definitely eat here again but probably to go only.“

“My friend and I went on Saturday night. We both had a drink and ordered appetizer while looking at the menu. Our waiter was right there with our hot appetizer within minutes. We both ordered shrimp and scallops coleslaw hush puppies along with our fried calamari appetizer. Our food was one of the best we've had in and around Bradenton/Sarasota. “I grew up in the area and have been eating smoked mullet for nearly 50 years. In the 1970's mullet were plentiful all along the coast and you could get it raw or cooked in several different ways everywhere you went, but the smoked was always a hit with me. As time went by the mullet schools shrank and it became harder and harder to find it in any form. The occasional pop-up roadside warrior over the week-ends advertised "smoked mullet", but 9 times out of 10 the spice was too powerful, the smoke hadn't penetrated or the meat was either raw or over cooked and so dry that it could barely be swallowed. I finally stopped to give Gulley's a try and was NOT disappointed. I am here to tell you that Gulley's smoked mullet is the REAL DEAL. Perfect in every way. While there I also tried their mullet spread and it is Heavenly as is their mullet dipping sauce. Needless to say.. I will be back.“

“A very pleasant surprise that we stumbled upon. We decided to drive back into IMG at the 53rd Street entrance. We found the Legacy hotel. That’s where we found the cozy Icon grill. It happened to be happy hour an appetizers were half off along with drink specials. The food was excellent and we have shared this special place with many friends. The atmosphere was a bit loud since it sits almost in the hotel lobby. The outside is quiet and beautiful, sitting on a small lagoon.“

My only complaint was my whiskey sour was a bit on the weak side. Will definitely stop again when in the area. PS: if you’re not used to Florida, you might want to spray some bug spray on your legs if you eat outside.
