House Of Waking Life - HOWL Pet Friendly • $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
109 SE 4th Ave, Gainesville

“Always a calm and welcoming atmosphere. If you are into tea, herbal drinks, or a simple cold brew, this is the place for you. They have kombucha on tap, too!Their menu is expansive but not lacking quality. They have opened my eyes and soul to a plethora of new teas through their menu. Additionally, Caleb is very knowledgeable about tea and the nuances of each one they have. My favorite is currently between three- Genmaicha(green tea with a nutty/popcorn flavor twist due to roasted rice kernals), Cha Goa (a resin tea with sticky rice notes), and Grandma Ai's(a black tea with notes of cherrios and apricot).Howl offers great indoor and outdoor space for studying, meetings, remote work, crafting, reading, and chatting with friends. With monthly workshops, community events, and an overall loving and supportive environment, this is one of my favorite places to go.Bluejay/Brooke holds some of the most beautiful, emotional, and spiritual events that help center yourself and connect to the earth.Howl offers body work appointments, though I have not attended any yet. I have heard high praise from others, though! They have some of the most up to date accommodations for individuals with disabilities to access the space in town, as well! Something that I really love and hope to see other buildings implement.100/10 would recommend.“

“So, I'm sitting on my Lanai trying to figure out where to have lunch checking out some pizza places. There are a few very good places around Jonesville where we live now, but up pops Squarehouse Pizza. I take one look at that pizza and it was like the sun rising in the morning. It was like a vision, Dang, that looks like a "DETROIT" Pizza. My wife and I boogied down there, I think it was twelve miles. We ordered a custom deep dish, and a salad. Had to laugh, the owner went to Detroit to actually see and taste the Detroit Deep Dish! He tried numerous establishments and had previous experience in the industry so he was smart enough to figure it out. Pizza is great!!!For all you Michiganders who miss that taste of Detroit, we just found it. Give it a shot! Now, I have to find someone who knows what a perogies is. Enjoy, Hud“

“We were drawn to this place by the great reviews! First time visiting this bakery / café even if we've worked in Gainesville for over 3 years. What a cute store - it certainly has the mom n' pop charm that you don't see in commercialized areas. Lots of little knick knacks and children's nostalgic toys around. Some items have price tags, some have tags "Not for Sale".Cheryl was the kind lady at the counter. She mentioned she was understaffed, and luckily, we didn't mind the wait. There was 1 customer at the counter and 2 ladies sitting at one of the tables when we arrived. It took about 7 minutes for Cheryl to finish with the previous customer, and then she took our order. We were interested in cookies and brownies for a work meeting, so she offered a mix of a dozen chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies plus a few brownie bites. My husband ordered an egg n' cheese sandwich as a snack. The total order was about $23 with a generous tip. At the meeting, the brownies disappeared first, then the chocolate chip cookies, and lastly, the oatmeal cookies. The food was a hit. Gone so fast that I didn't even get to taste a cookie ? but everyone seemed to like it and commented on how the treats tasted homemade like a favorite grandma would bake. My husband said the egg sandwich was made well. I had the side of potatoes that went with the sandwich; those were also tasty.I will be back again to visit when I don't have a work meeting to try these treats and maybe get a sandwich for myself as well!Location: Don't let the location of the café turn you away. The inside is clean and tidy. Cheryl is a good egg ✅️ and we didn't meet Cindy, but if she's as charming as Cheryl, then we're looking forward to our next visit even more?Parking: Parking: There is a gravel lot across the street, and space is very limited. When we were there (about 2pm on a Wednesday), there were only 3 spots open aside from the one we parked in.“

I can't wait to check out their new vibe on 'Cuban Corner' in Gainesville.I went there specifically for the Cuban sandwich, as I do Cubano reviews on YouTube (goofy, I know, but I love these things!). This, IMO, is the top ranked Cubano in the Gainesville area, or maybe even this north/central Florida region. Sandwich was fantastic. Pork was delicious, bread was nice and thin with a solid press (key!). They got this Cubano thing down. Highly recommend. Not sure the link will work from Yelp, but here is a video of my review, if interested (spoiler alert- I scored it an 8.4, which is currently tied for my #1 Cubano on my made up Cubano review scale): youtu.be/Bvn4Bs979c8“

“It's a small, relic of the past fast food place with little to no parking, and an drive-thru and outdoor only eating experience in downtown Gainesville with tasty hamburgers. I really enjoyed the sauce they added to the meat.Parking: Limited parking“

“I think they filmed E.T here…I noticed this tree that was cut in half up front & it reminds me of the half cut trees that they got in the ride at E.T at Universal Studios Orlando BUT ALSO, It may be worth mentioning that they also have similarily half cut trees like this in front of DisneyWorld’s Galaxys Edge Star Wars area…so maybe they filmed Star Wars here instead? Idk, lmk.Good food btw. ?“
