“Went for my birthday dinner last night. I wanted a place where you dressed for dinner in a place with atmosphere. Embers did not disappoint on any level. The attention to detail and the dining experience is second to none. Our server, Donnie, was just the best. Knowledgeable and friendly, attentive without being obtrusive. I plan on asking for him again. All the servers are the best of the best in my observation. The menu is varied and the choices are what youd wxpect in a high end restaurant. The food is sublime! We had the crab bisque to start, and the fresh ingredients are obvious. I had the divers scallops in a lemon beurre blanc and they were delicious and cooked to peefection. My husband had a 10 oz Filet mignon and he said it was also perfect. We both had the lobster mashed potatoes (yum), I had roasted asparagus which was tender and flavorful and he had sautéed wild mushrooms and those were just wonderful. The portions are big, so be prepared to bring some home. They are boxed and bagged well. Our only disappointment was having no room for dessert, although Donnie brought out a homemade mango sorbet with a raspberry sauce which was delicious and a perfect finish. I plan on leaving room next time, I have to try the flaming creme brulee! All in all, the best dining experience I've had in a long long while and I can't wait ti go back!“
“What a delicious local spot to dine at!We made a very short notice reservation for four, and within two hours were accommodated thanks to a kind woman on the phone.We arrived at 4:45 and were greeted by Justice, who took great care of us throughout the experience.He recommended excellent wine pairings as well as thorough details of ingredients - to which my 3 course meal was truly perfect.It got quite busy after 5:30 and they were definitely short staffed but Justice kept being wonderful.Can't wait to be back and enjoy a rare local restaurant in Gainesville.“

“Located downtown. I visited here on a Saturday night, I would recommend to have a reservation as it was quite busy. Upon arrival I was promptly seated at our table. Our waiter was great, paid attention to details and recommended a few options. Mark’s has a great selection of wines. For dinner, we order steak and some sides. Unfortunately they were sold out of their chef meat special this evening. I would recommend the Delmonico cut, twice baked potato, and the risotto. The risotto changes daily as it’s a chef special of the day. Lastly, we had to wait over an hour for our entrees to arrive, the manager did come over and apology for the wait time. “Classic Seafood. Have never had any issues with food quality. The portions have not changed the entire time I have eaten here. The prices have gone up a $2.00-$3.00 dollars for the Shrimp. Only change is they used to offer a smaller option kind of a lunch size for dinner, but don’t anymore. One of the only places in town that the price reflects the serving size left in Gainesville. You will leave full. Dating myself here, but have been coming to this place for 15 years. My Granny and Dad loved coming here. Many family birthday celebrations. Service can be hit or miss as far as personality , but you see the hustle and effort that most of them have. They are working and not on their phones or just standing around.Kid-friendliness: Never had an issue with my kids and service.“

And yeah, that's what it is, despite the name -- far more fried fish and Cajun food than Greek-inspired.I had the oyster po boy, which was risky since the last time I had one of those it was at a restaurant in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Was this as good as that one? Well, no, of course not. But was it tasty and well cooked? Absolutely. Plenty of nicely fried oysters, decent remoulade sauce. Definitely worth getting again, especially for the price.The French fries were particularly good, super crispy and tasty, not overly salty.They also have a little dessert case with cheesecake and similar things by the slice.The only real downside is that there's NO ambiance at all, even by fast food standards.I'll definitely be back.“

“I ordered the fish and chips as well as some shrimp and Atlantic cod for later. The shrimp and Atlantic cod were so fresh! The fish and chips were delicious and truly a great deal for the price. They staff was friendly and helpful, and service was fast. I'll definitely be back!“

“Drinks were amazing and food was very good. They were also respectful of my service dog. Things were going great. Apps and drinks came out timely. We did have to ask our server twice for water but hey, we're human no big deal...the issue we came to wasn't with our server directly, it was the wait time on our entrees. I'm not the type to time so I don't know exactly how long we waited but it was definitely longer than it should have been. It would have been nice if our server would have come over and checked on us or said something. Just awkward.“
“We had a birthday party of about twenty. The service was excellent and the place was great, however my roast beef was so salty that it ruined the meal. It's a shame, because it was otherwise tender and tasty, behind all the salt. Also, the mixed veggies weren't as described. I ordered them to get away from the standard corn. I was told lima beans, broccoli, etc., but instead of the lima beans there was that corn again. Oh well, the place was otherwise nice and the food won't stop me from coming back. I'll find something else on the menu.“

“Everything was good food wise and our server was great. The only problem i had was the fact that our server had 2 tables that were being a little difficult first with their orders then when they received their orders and checks. The manager that came out talked down about the server to the customer which ìs something i feel shouldn't ever be done. As a manager all she should have done was apologize and fix the problem... The fact that the server is new or u feel like they don't pay attention well or anything else should've never been apart of the conversation and i think that's unprofessional on her part. Anyway if u go u gotta try the wings they're awesome“
“G’ville is a true Southern food Gem! The catfish is outstanding, the best I’ve ever had! The shrimp was very good, fresh and tasty. The chicken wings were also excellent. Surprisingly, I liked their gizzards even though I don’t like gizzards! The only negative thing I can say is that the fries are a little too soggy. They need to put some vinegar in their cooking oil to crisp up the fries.Their banana pudding is also outstanding, the best I’ve ever had as well.The price is also extremely good. Great food, good amount and great price! We will definitely go there again on every visit to Gainesville!“

“I really loved celebrating my fifth anniversary at this restaurant. Our waiter’s service was great and despite the fact that we didn’t have the bottle of Prosecco we wanted, he solved the problem diligently. The only criticism I have is that the restaurant is too bright, they should make the lights dimmer to give me a more romantic atmosphere.“
“My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lobster. I had the cedar plank scallops and, although I wasn’t a big fan of the seasoning, they were very nice. (I scraped some of the seasoning off the top.) The cheesy grits and vegetable medley were wonderful. We took advantage of the BOGO entree deal so, my meal was free! We arrived in time to also take advantage of happy hour for our drinks. The band that was playing was excellent, our server - Tally - was delightful, and we met some lovely people and dogs there (we were sitting outside). It was a very nice experience.“

“It's a buffet not much to say, very dark inside and the only thing I could complain about is the whole time the waitresses gathered around and after each customer left they would keep counting their tips over and over and after a few times looked like they we're pissed about their tips would run to each other and talk @*&#. Come on it's a buffet we get our own plates. Seems petty for me too complain about this but it was truly annoying. So enough ranting, food was okay big selection to choose from and plenty of seafood but NO grab legs " sorry guys " ?“
“Recently visited Pomodoro's with some friends for a ladies night. We had a very good experience overall! Our server was very attentive and patient with our dining decisions. We enjoyed the bottles of wine that we chose (Montepulciano) as well as the appetizer (fritto misto). The calamari and shrimp were fried perfectly and very tender. We each got a caesar salad which tasted fresh and light (some of the salads needed a little extra parmesan). The spaghetti and clams dish was very tasty and the clams were very fresh. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well (pasta valentino, gnocchi rose, ravioli florentina). We split a couple desserts as well and highly recommend the apple pie/crumble dessert! The cannoli cake was a little dense but had good flavor. It was a nice evening and we will definitely consider having another ladies night here!“
