“I respectfully cannot give O’Maddy less than five stars. My sister had her wedding here -hell- there’s even a drink named after my sister’s mother-in-law!

But do not worry, dear reviewer, though we are biased, we are honest.

Parking: Despite the limited parking, we happened to get a front row “princess parking” spot right in front of the building. If you don’t get as lucky as we are, there is more parking around the corner if you are willing to walk.

Atmosphere: the vibes are immaculate, as any cozy pub can be! Even more so because O’Maddy’s has big, open-air seating that looks right out onto the bay. As a girl from Oregon seeing a REAL beach (one that isn’t wild, freezing, and liable to kill you), I found it soothing to see the tropic, warm water. This evening, the Australia vs. US soccer game was on (the US won 2-0), and it would have been an amazing game to watch, but we just so happened to be seated at one of the only tables without access to a television. (This can be forgiven, though, since they were able to seat a party of 8 with no wait time.)

Food: the nephew gives his bun only to his hot dog 5/5 stars. He tried giving a thumbs up, but we are still learning that skill. Overall, the party was happy with their food. We unanimously agreed that the French fries are top tier, and all French fries need to taste and look like the ones from O’Maddys’. It’s not just greasy pub fare!

“Four of us came for lunch; only one of our party ordered seafood, which is what they mostly have. That same person also was the only one to order an alcoholic drink. My pulled pork sandwich was a great disappointment. The pulled pork didn't even cover the bottom part of the bread, very skimpy serving. What there was good, but mostly it was the taste of the bread that I experienced. Service was slow. Didn't see many ordering meals as we did, but many did enjoy the bar the libations there. If you go for seafood, you will probably enjoy this restaurant. Fortunately, it wasn't hot yet.“

I felt compelled to write this because exceptional service and exceptional food deserve to be recognized.
My family and I have been vacationing in St. Pete Beach for the past six years, and one tradition we never miss is a visit to Shrimpy's. What's remarkable is that every single year we come back, the food somehow gets even better. Most restaurants struggle to maintain consistency over time, but Shrimpy's continues to raise the bar year after year.
From the moment we walked through the door until the moment we left, everything was absolutely top-notch. Our server, Jake, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. Great servers can make a meal memorable, and Jake certainly did that.
Now let's talk about the food.
I have eaten seafood all over Florida and throughout the country, and I can honestly say that Shrimpy's serves some of the finest Cajun-style seafood I have ever had. Every dish was cooked to perfection, seasoned flawlessly, and bursting with flavor. The freshness of the seafood was obvious from the first bite, and the chefs clearly take tremendous pride in what they do.
What impressed me most was that nothing felt rushed, pre-made, or ordinary. Every plate that came to our table looked incredible and tasted even better. It's rare to find a restaurant where both the kitchen and the front-of-house staff perform at such a high level, but Shrimpy's has mastered both.
John John, you have built something special. The fact that my family has returned for six straight years—and that we leave more impressed each time than the year before—says everything that needs to be said. Outstanding servers, phenomenal chefs, a welcoming atmosphere, and food that keeps people talking long after they leave.
In my opinion, this isn't just the best seafood restaurant on St. Pete Beach—it's the best Cajun seafood restaurant I've ever experienced anywhere.
If you're looking for authentic Cajun seafood done right, stop searching and go to Shrimpy's. Five stars isn't enough.
We'll absolutely be back next year, just like we've been for the last six years.
And one final piece of advice for anyone reading this review: save room for the bread pudding. Trust me. Just when you think the meal can't get any better, the bread pudding shows up and delivers the perfect ending to an already unforgettable meal.

“We ate here 2 nights while staying on the beach this week. The hummus and flatbread along with their house salad for a starter was sooo good. The coconut shrimp was good and the coconut curry snapper was the best fish I have ever tasted and I grew up in Florida.
