“This is the best lobster roll I have ever had in my life and it’s worth every penny. The mouth watering lobster on the perfectly light toasted roll just fabulous. Great outside area to sit and cool upstairs also if you want to be inside . I was there a few Saturdays back in the day and saw such a cool Reggae band that even boosted the atmosphere more . Great service. The manager Caleb was very accommodating to myself and my family.“

“Disclaimer: I’m a native Texan, traveling on vacation.
This place offered an elevated dining experience. It wasn’t your typical local food joint. We only had appetizers and drinks, but that was enough to know it was exactly what our foodie hearts were craving.
We tried two craft cocktails—the Double Vision and the Lavender Haze. Whoever came up with the idea of mixing carrot, ginger, whiskey, and fennel was pure genius. It was such an exciting drink, perfectly made—we could’ve easily had a few more. The lavender drink was equally refreshing and intoxicating.
Small menu - which we love. We like when restaurants perfect everything, instead of a large menu where everything is mediocre.
We enjoyed the fish and sausage egg roll.
I’m a Minorcan chowder girl, and I could’ve easily swum in a bathtub of that tasty conch soup. It was that good.
The atmosphere was peaceful and beautiful, setting the perfect vibe for an intimate experience. Everything about the vibe was just right.“

“What a gem St Augustine has in its’ midst! We recently visited the fine establishment after reading previous reviews and was overwhelmed by the kindness and expertise of the owner! We were novices and had never prepared blue crab before. Instead of being annoyed at our lack of knowledge, he explained at great length and in easy to understand detail, how to prepare his delicious crab in several different ways. We served up a delightful, delicious meal that evening! The seafood was exceptional! He and his small business is a real asset to the community! You won’t be disappointed!!!!“

“I have to be honest and say I can remember when this location was a Greek restaurant in the late 70's, and it's been transformed many times. The decor is cool. Very large space with inside and outdoor seating. Very many cool drink options, but no draft beer. I did settle for an IPA in a can. The fish dip was awesome and it came with some yummy raw veggies. A worthwhile visit.“

“We had no prior knowledge of Blackfly. We chose it because it was close to our rental.  We smiled as soon as we walked in the side door leading to the bar area and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The further we entered the very well decorated restaurant the more we knew we had made a good choice.  To us, the best reason to visit St. Augustine is dining at the Blackfly!  We went all out and had drinks,  appetizers, their version of Coquille St. Jacques and their Chilli lime shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection with exceptional sauces. Main course was a Chef's Special which was baked shrimps, scallops over a bed of thai noodles and a sauce to die for.  I had the bone in Pork chop cooked medium rare and it was delicious.  Blackfly has a vast selection of wines in their wine cellar and we enjoyed a nice Honig sauvignon blanc.   Kudos to Matt, our server, who throughout the evening gave us the right amount of attention and space to relax for our entire dining experience.  The food was so good and well prepared that I was compelled to go to the kitchen to thank the staff and gave a large tip for the kitchen staff . Our evening at Blackfly was the highlight of our trip.  Thank you Vaughn and staff, you have an outstanding establishment.“

“The host was very sweet and welcoming. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Food was delicious and large portions. I had the Mediterranean pasta that was hot to the last bite and had delicious flavor. My server recommended the Dirty banana frozen drink. It was amazing= an adult milkshake. Sunset was gorgeous.“

“My husband and I live in Palm coast and when we make the trip to St. Augustine, this place is always a must! We’ve been a few times now and each time they are so friendly and fast with the service. I really appreciate how child-friendly they are, they always treat our toddler with such kindness and patience. One time that we went they even brought him out a dessert of ice cream! They are the best and so is the food. The buffets they have during the week are always hot, fresh and tasty as well.“

I was pretty fooled when I stepped in to a totally different atmosphere, a place where all the locals come, and it was packed, sat at the bar Andrew the bartender took care of us. He was amazing. He was on top of his game. Nothing unusual for him whatever he suggested was excellent service excellent food excellent wine excellent I drank sangria from Spain so did everybody else in the place? Cocktails were good. Great story about Horse Soldier Bourbon. Great bourbon selection, enjoyed craft cocktails. Food was just alright and was very expensive. Two cocktails, one app, one salad and a steak $111. Probably wouldn’t eat here again but would stop in for cocktails. No parking, wouldn’t bring kids here, wheel chair accessible.“
