“Made a special trip to st Augustine on Memorial Day just to check out DJs. Extremely nice staff, and phenomenal fried clams. Had Both a cold and hot lobster roll, and a shrimp roll. I have to say I preferred the cold lobster roll over the hot, they were both very different so to try to compare the two isn’t fair. The cold one is so flavorful with some seasonings. The hot one was also good with just butter. The shrimp roll was also great! Because they were closing for the week they didn’t have any full bellies which is why I made the trip. But it’s okay because we will def be going back to eat!! Highly recommend“

“What a gem St Augustine has in its’ midst! We recently visited the fine establishment after reading previous reviews and was overwhelmed by the kindness and expertise of the owner! We were novices and had never prepared blue crab before. Instead of being annoyed at our lack of knowledge, he explained at great length and in easy to understand detail, how to prepare his delicious crab in several different ways. We served up a delightful, delicious meal that evening! The seafood was exceptional! He and his small business is a real asset to the community! You won’t be disappointed!!!!“

“We come to St Augustine several times a year with our dogs. This is always our #1 restaurant and eat there a few times each trip. Staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. Would give it a 10 our of 10!“

“We visited Grouper Shack a couple of weeks ago. It was our first visit and we definitely have added it to our restaurants to have dinner. Know that you order first then find a seat. Food was served on paper baskets, but it did take away from the delicious food!“

“I love beach vacations but I’m allergic to shellfish. Usually eating in a touristy, beach town is difficult but I swear Kyle knew every possible point of cross contamination on this menu. “Ordered shrimp and grits... $21 for a large spoon of grits and not sure what was mixed in the gravy , and 5 small shrimp.. Awful tasting and not enough for even a small kid. So disgusted. Granddaughter got chicken po boy she said was good. I sure wouldn't choose this place for seafood..“

“We had no prior knowledge of Blackfly. We chose it because it was close to our rental.  We smiled as soon as we walked in the side door leading to the bar area and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The further we entered the very well decorated restaurant the more we knew we had made a good choice.  To us, the best reason to visit St. Augustine is dining at the Blackfly!  We went all out and had drinks,  appetizers, their version of Coquille St. Jacques and their Chilli lime shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection with exceptional sauces. Main course was a Chef's Special which was baked shrimps, scallops over a bed of thai noodles and a sauce to die for.  I had the bone in Pork chop cooked medium rare and it was delicious.  Blackfly has a vast selection of wines in their wine cellar and we enjoyed a nice Honig sauvignon blanc.   Kudos to Matt, our server, who throughout the evening gave us the right amount of attention and space to relax for our entire dining experience.  The food was so good and well prepared that I was compelled to go to the kitchen to thank the staff and gave a large tip for the kitchen staff . Our evening at Blackfly was the highlight of our trip.  Thank you Vaughn and staff, you have an outstanding establishment.“

playing appropriate patio vibe music. Ordered two highballs tall, received oversized shot glass sized plastic glasses. Chicken wrap tasted good and fresh however the menu started blackened chicken. This chicken tasted very similar to our personal bag of frozen flavored chicken, which is good but not blackened. Sweet potato fries came cold but the waiter brought hot, fresh ones. Boston Clam chowder was excellent, probably ranks with one of the best this writer has eaten. Nice, crisp garden salad.“

“This is one of the very best Sushi restaurants that i have ever eaten at. The service was spectacular and the selection of sushi and sashimi was stupendous. I have eaten in many Sushi restaurants and I have to say this is by far my favorite . Whenever we are in St. Augustine I know we will eat there again. This time we got dessert too…peanut butter and chocolate pie and salted caramel cheesecake. I could have eaten my weight in both! “In general one would not think a restaurant in a hotel would be worth a visit unless you are staying there, Michael’s is an exception to that assumption. It is fine dining in a beautiful spot.

The service was what you would except from a 5 restaurant. Their wine selection was incredible. My steak was prepared perfectly. And they had something I had never seen at a steak house. A vegetable medley with a potato dish. It was perfect for me as I was solo dinner and had everything you would want in a steak dinner. I wanted to try the desert but I was too stuffed (in a good way).

If you are in the area this is a great dinner and they validate the valet. I am sorry for not taking more photos but the presentation was amazing. Please come and enjoy“

Fortunately, we made reservations for opening night at new location and the food was stellar! The renovations are lovely and bar area warm and inviting. We started with a shared crab cake appetizer and pleasantly surprised. For our entrees we ordered the Mahi encrusted in macadamia nuts with a mango rum butter over jasmine rice with wok stir fried vegetables and the Korean style short rib with same rice and veg set up. No room for dessert this time, but if you haven’t tried their chocolate gateau please do, you will not regret. Kudos to Chef Peter and his staff.“

We shared the chocolate molten cake which was delicious, can’t find the appropriate word to describe because it was the BEST we have ever had. This is our favorite restaurant.“

“My wife and I came here for our 31st anniversary. A highly rated restaurant. My meal, steak bowl, was very tasty. The steak was tuff. Over cooked I think. My wife had a fish meal. I forget which. She was very disappointed in the taste and quality of her meal. I have NEVER see my wife complain about a meal before. When our waitress (she was great!) Asked how the meal was my wife told her. Later a woman, not a lady, came to our table concerning our dissatisfaction. She seemed to be insulted and left in a huff. Normally a dissatisfied customer is given a discount or a free dessert. Something. Nothing was offered. What should have been an enjoyable dining experience for Saint Augustine residents celebrating their anniversary was left lacking. 🤢“
