“We came in about 45 minutes till closing time.. had Paige (AMAZING SERVICE) and got the fried green tomatoes were the best ones i have ever had in my life and we got the special which was scallop Rockefeller which was amazing as well. Paige asked questions to make sure everything we were getting was exactly what we wanted PLUS MORE. Wow. So blown away. I live 3 hours away and would drive this far to come and sit at a table Paige has eat some great food 10/10 recommend!“

This place offered an elevated dining experience. It wasn’t your typical local food joint. We only had appetizers and drinks, but that was enough to know it was exactly what our foodie hearts were craving.
We tried two craft cocktails—the Double Vision and the Lavender Haze. Whoever came up with the idea of mixing carrot, ginger, whiskey, and fennel was pure genius. It was such an exciting drink, perfectly made—we could’ve easily had a few more. The lavender drink was equally refreshing and intoxicating.
Small menu - which we love. We like when restaurants perfect everything, instead of a large menu where everything is mediocre.
We enjoyed the fish and sausage egg roll.
I’m a Minorcan chowder girl, and I could’ve easily swum in a bathtub of that tasty conch soup. It was that good.
The atmosphere was peaceful and beautiful, setting the perfect vibe for an intimate experience. Everything about the vibe was just right.“

“Made a special trip to st Augustine on Memorial Day just to check out DJs. Extremely nice staff, and phenomenal fried clams. Had Both a cold and hot lobster roll, and a shrimp roll. I have to say I preferred the cold lobster roll over the hot, they were both very different so to try to compare the two isn’t fair. The cold one is so flavorful with some seasonings. The hot one was also good with just butter. The shrimp roll was also great! Because they were closing for the week they didn’t have any full bellies which is why I made the trip. But it’s okay because we will def be going back to eat!! Highly recommend“

“What a gem St Augustine has in its’ midst! We recently visited the fine establishment after reading previous reviews and was overwhelmed by the kindness and expertise of the owner! We were novices and had never prepared blue crab before. Instead of being annoyed at our lack of knowledge, he explained at great length and in easy to understand detail, how to prepare his delicious crab in several different ways. We served up a delightful, delicious meal that evening! The seafood was exceptional! He and his small business is a real asset to the community! You won’t be disappointed!!!!“

“I have to be honest and say I can remember when this location was a Greek restaurant in the late 70's, and it's been transformed many times. The decor is cool. Very large space with inside and outdoor seating. Very many cool drink options, but no draft beer. I did settle for an IPA in a can. The fish dip was awesome and it came with some yummy raw veggies. A worthwhile visit.“

“We had no prior knowledge of Blackfly. We chose it because it was close to our rental.  We smiled as soon as we walked in the side door leading to the bar area and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The further we entered the very well decorated restaurant the more we knew we had made a good choice.  To us, the best reason to visit St. Augustine is dining at the Blackfly!  We went all out and had drinks,  appetizers, their version of Coquille St. Jacques and their Chilli lime shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection with exceptional sauces. Main course was a Chef's Special which was baked shrimps, scallops over a bed of thai noodles and a sauce to die for.  I had the bone in Pork chop cooked medium rare and it was delicious.  Blackfly has a vast selection of wines in their wine cellar and we enjoyed a nice Honig sauvignon blanc.   Kudos to Matt, our server, who throughout the evening gave us the right amount of attention and space to relax for our entire dining experience.  The food was so good and well prepared that I was compelled to go to the kitchen to thank the staff and gave a large tip for the kitchen staff . Our evening at Blackfly was the highlight of our trip.  Thank you Vaughn and staff, you have an outstanding establishment.“

“We both agreed this was our best food during our trip to Florida, and possibly the best seafood we’ve ever had. We got fried oysters, fried shrimp, blackened shrimp, fried gator tail, and crab legs between the two of us. Absolutely delicious and the drinks were great too! Everything was priced well, and the view if you eat outside is amazing. We saw a mama duck with 10 ducklings! And a beautiful sunset over the lake in the back. “We had a wonderful experience at Michael's. We thought that the cocktail menu was very innovative and enjoyed our choices. We ordered the crab and skillet shrimp and although both very good, the shrimp surpassed expectations. Highly recommend the dish. My husband had an excellent and creative fish special and I ordered the swordfish, which was somewhat disappointing because the edges had the odd, fishy taste that sometimes comes when a fish has been sitting on ice and gets watered down (hard to describe). My preparation was fine and the fish was better towards the middle of the cut We appreciated our seating arrangement that was requested due to an illness. It made our night so much more relaxing. Our evening was perfect and that is what will make our anniversary memorable. The only suggestion I have is to slow the timing down a bit. We did feel rushed and even tried to control the pace a bit by not ordering our entrees right away. Our appetizers came quickly which was great but our meals should have been put in a bit later. “My husband and I live in Palm coast and when we make the trip to St. Augustine, this place is always a must! We’ve been a few times now and each time they are so friendly and fast with the service. I really appreciate how child-friendly they are, they always treat our toddler with such kindness and patience. One time that we went they even brought him out a dessert of ice cream! They are the best and so is the food. The buffets they have during the week are always hot, fresh and tasty as well.“
