“drove to Tallahassee from Valdosta, GA, for a shopping trip, and a good friend recommended El Rey Tacos & Beer. I’m so glad I stopped by! This place instantly transported me back to Mexico. I had the best torta I’ve ever tasted, the bread was perfectly fresh and soft, and every bite was bursting with flavor. It’s hard to find something this authentic back home in Valdosta. I also tried their aguas frescas, and they were incredibly refreshing and flavorful. My 10-year-old daughter ordered tacos and surprised me by eating four! She said they were the best tacos she’s ever had.This place is absolutely worth the drive. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone craving true Mexican flavors!“

“A lot of outside seating that is fully covered. Dogs allowed outside. This was the perfect restaurant to get together with some friends and the pups to sit outside and enjoy a meal. The food was served quickly. The salsa was SO good!! And the queso was perfect! I went with tacos and my friends all went with bowl dishes.

Parking is in a shared parking lot for a plaza of businesses so there is no parking issues here.

The only recommendation I would have is to add a basic pollo con queso dish to the menu for all us basic girls that just like chicken cheese rice and beans. Thats my friends and I’s go to order every time we eat at a Mexican restaurant.“

“I highly recommend that you stay away from this establishment. After being a regular customer for years, I was turned away rudely a full hour before they were supposed to close. I mentioned that them deciding to close an hour early and affecting my plans didn’t make me want to come back and I was told “OK, goodbye.” I have never felt less appreciated as a longtime customer. “El Cocinero is a fantastic casual dining restaurant with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. The "El Cocinero Margarita" is one of the best I have ever had, and is consistently great. Their hot sauces are phenomenal, however they have been out of them the last 2-3 weeks which is a little disappointing. I get a rather simple order, however the corn tortillas and the seasoned meat are always outstanding.

I was disappointed with my most recent visit when there were no other tables inside (and only 1-2 outside). A bartender made the comment "If it was up to me, Mocktails would be $1 million dollars. I hate them. Take your sprite and shut up". I get that we all have things we find annoying, and it's one thing to vent in private or in the back-of-house. But venting at the bar, infront of a customer with friends/family that are pregnant and enjoy mocktails, is pure form and service. If it wasn't for this recent event, it would be 4 or 5 stars for service rather than 1“

He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. His excellent service really stood out and made our meal even better.
