“We had our first, and way overdue (!!!), time at Gene’s and damn we were we blown away. The food and drinks are second to none - indulgent and fun from apps to drinks to full plates and sides (we ate a lot!) Katie took care of us and she was the best - nailed the recommendations. Our favorites were Bushwacker, Gene’s Salad and Philly (special).

We’ll be back - for date night and with our kiddos. We had more that we wanted to try than our stomachs would allow for.

The owner was there when we stopped by (we’re new to town), and he went above and beyond, letting us sample the turkey wings, ribs, and turnip greens. Everything was delicious, but that chicken stole the show. The green beans were tasty, the catfish was solid, and the turnip greens were surprisingly good. Thus far, I have had the BBQ Pork, Ribs, Brisket, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Mac N Cheese, Das Corn, Brunswick Stew, and Banana Pudding and IMHO the most important aspect, which is the meat seasoning and the sauces. No offense to my friends in the biz but DAS, hands down, has the best of each of these items! I live on the southside of ATL and gladly will drive for more DAS BBQ. R.S.W.H.B.B.Q is more than “exceptional”. The portion sizes are huge, the vegetables are well seasoned, the potato salad is kick your shoes off good. However, the pork ribs, boned in chicken, and brisket exceed the norm on taste and desirability. The BBQ meats are so delicious that you will find yourself eating first, second, third... “Our first visit, we will be back! Great food. fast, friendly service! Weather was perfect so we sat outside on the deck. Very clean. The food is fresh, they smoke all their meat daily and they use locally sourced produce. They have a full bar. We shared the OG Salmon Chips - house smoked salmon, chipotle cream cheese, red onion & capers on house made potato chips (piucured) they are a little pricey at $16 for 5 servings but are piled high with fresh salmon so we weren't disappointed (they were great). We also had a Garden Chopped Bowl - (thick cut) house bacon, hard boiled egg, corn, red onion, tomato, avocado, bleu cheese and added Pulled Pork (pictured). Very good, highly recommend!“

“I had the beef brisket with Mac and cheese, collard greens and corn bread. This was probably one of the top 5 best Mac and cheese I had. The collard greens were a bit salty but I liked them. The corn bread was good but a bit dry. The bbq sauce was great I got hot and it wasn’t too spicy it was just right. I would definitely go here again. The prices are a bit pricey but it definitely was a good meal I can’t complain. I had a couple of shots at the bar while I waited for my food. They had a DJ in there it was really nice atmosphere.“

“Ramen was yummy. Shrimp and pork dumplings were nice. Beef bulgogi was also very good. Had the pomegranate drink and it was tasty and a good option for the meal. Service was quick, a little impersonal, but the touchpad ordering probably helps when it’s busy. Clean and quiet restaurant.“

“Some a y’all may remember that I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years, and this past Thanksgiving, I decided what I wanted a smoked Duck (especially since the price of an 8-10 lb Heritage turkey was about $150)!😡😡

We heard about HK BBQ from a colleague, and after checking around on cost, this one was THE most reasonable. Whole roasted Duck ($31.99) Half Duck ($16.89) if you’re just curious and want to try. Ducks hang in the window so you can pick out the one you want.

So, a couple things: You can buy the duck, but they don’t sell the “pancakes”. I asked.
The owner, who was very nice told me, “That’s how they do it in Hong Kong, we don’t sell it that way here.” I thought that was curious.. u kno.. since you named your business HK BBQ🙄🤷🏼‍♀️😂

The duck was excellent (even though we didn’t have the pancakes)!
I want to take a moment to mention the facility that the cafe is located in: as you approach the restaurant/cafe there’s a beautiful sitting area that brings the outside in (as you’d expect in Asia). It’s very serene and a nice enclave to have lunch if you have time to stop.

HK BBQ is located in a food court. There are a few other cafes in the court, but from what I saw, they didn’t seem as popular, as HK BBQ were the only ones with a line.

The last thing I’ll say is that their menu is QUITE extensive! It’s two sided, separated by a black and white side. If you dig Chinese food, you’ll have a ball going through this menu!“

“Typically I wouldn’t pick a spot like this but my son frequents here’s and we ere visiting him and it was late and we were hungry lol BUT… glad I didn’t let appearances change my mind. It’s a younger crowd but everyone was very cool and respectful. Busy but somehow the gentleman behind the bar continuously checked on us and provided great service. The drinks were great and the FOOD?! So pleasantly surprised!! The food was delish!! everyone in our party really enjoyed their food. The area right outside was busy which made me think it was crazy inside but overall no. The only down as the bathrooms. They needed some cleaning. It’s a (great)dive bar. Drinks and missed toilets go hand in hand 😂“

I wasn't worried too much about having what amounts to a grill in the middle of our table with the kids. It's obviously hot, but it's not like you'll lose a hand if you get too close here and there. Service was great. Our server was Yuki. He was very attentive, and explained how it worked, and answered any questions. When our food arrived, Yuki told us exactly what each item was, and exactly how long to cook it per side. There are quite a few barbecue spots in the city of Atlanta that are good. But Georgia Boy Bbq cannot be touched! You can taste the time that was spent preparing each and every dish.
You can tell that the restaurant owner and his staff care about the product that is being sold. Thank you for being excellent at what you do and most definitely, I have found my new barbecue spot. The portions are a wonderful size. I couldn't even eat the entire plate myself. I had to put the rest up for later. The reason for the 4stars is because my very very very 1st x coming here I tried a gyro ? & wings. The gyro was DISGUSTING & COLD!! However, the wings were GOODT. Which is why i continued to come back for the wings. Now, every time i go i get wings only & they are literally ALWAYS fresh & fire !!!
