Aje's Cafe Filipino •
1120 Maunakea St Suite 123, Honolulu - 6.48 miles

“Located in the heart of Chinatown and Maunakea Marketplace, this place serves authentic Filipino food. I arrived late today and it was out of pork adobo. So I had Lechón Kawali and an unknown dish that was served cold. The lady told me it was pork and indeed it was pork, but it was like pork organs mixed with onions and scallions. Both dishes were tasty. With rice, the total was $20. Cash only here as well as other stalks here in the plaza. The serving size was decent as I couldn’t finish everything for lunch.

Vegetarian options: Some of Filipino vegetables dishes have small amounts of meat in them.

Parking: $3 per hour on the street. There were a couple small private lots across the street as well.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes“

“I was craving Banana Lumpia so I had my sister drive me to Golden Coin here in Wahiawa . I really like their Banana Lumpia, sweet and crunchy along with their breads. My family likes the pick your choice hot food bar with lots of different food options- fried rice, fried noodles, bbq stick etc. The Honey Dew Bubble drink is very refreshing on a hot day, especially since summer is just around the corner, perfect to cool you down. They also have a freezer so you can conveniently have something on hand to eat at home. I grabbed a bag of frozen Manapuas in the freezer for my nephew so he can just nuke it in the microwave for a quick snack after school . Employees are friendly and they make sure the hot food keeps coming out. Lots of choices and very satisfying if you’re in a rush for a quick meal. “I always visit North Star in School Street each time I go to Honolulu. This is practically an extension of our home kitchen for authentic Ilocano cuisines.

This unassuming place is our go-to for chicharon and dinak-dakan. The best, freshest, and closest to the ones from the Philippines. I have yet to try their longanisa and see if this can be added to our go-to lists. They have other dishes that you can buy as an ala carte or part of a plate lunch to go. This is a very tiny place, so there is no dine in option. They have a limited selection of Filipino products you can peruse.

Friendly staff as always.

Parking: Parking is shared with other businesses. It's a bit hard to find parking out front, so people tend to double park. If you can't street parking, just patiently wait. Someone will come out sooner or later. It will be worth the wait, though.“

“This place is delish! I get the lechon with double pancit and its enough food for 2 (but everyone wants thier own!) The pancit is the best I have ever had, full of veggies, meat and flavors! The lechon was crispy on the outside, flavorful and juicy inside and cut fresh to order with a tomato and onion slaw that balances all the flavors. An order of the made to order lumpia was the perfect companion. And I can't leave without a kalamansi tea! It's like an Arnold Palmer but perfectly balanced. Aesthetically it's not the cutest place but that's how you know there's gonna be some good, authentic, homemade food in there.First time here even though I'm a Wahiawa native. They sell ala cart, by the plate, and platters. It looks like lots of people ordered ahead for platters which I will also do myself the next time. I went a couple hours before closing so the food didn't look fresh but we enjoyed it. Salty and savory food that hits the spot and wear something comfy cause it'll definitely be kanaks after.“

“I was told that the owners of Miki’s opened this business to serve food for all the people working graveyard shift or finished work late.

With that being said, this place has the best food anywhere in this time frame 12am - 3am. Miki’s is an amazing change of food choices for late at night.

-The plates are cheaper with big servings compared to other places.
-Lines get long but the wait time after ordering is never past 10 minutes.
-Parking is fun because it’s either on the curb or the side of the street.

People reviewing this place needs to realize this hole-in-the-wall food business is meant for people like me. Those who work late into the night, that’s my demographic. If you’re comparing this place to Zippys or anything like that, then go there shut up. This place makes all their food with love, that beats anything opened after hours to me, no 7/11, McDonald’s, no fast food place can compete that.“
