“What a great local spot..views were really stunning.. breakfast sandwiches were light and delicious.. blueberry danish and cherry tart were SOOOO good.. got a 4 for atmosphere only because their bathroom was out of service.
Vegetarian options: Really a great little place. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the baked goods were so good.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access is OK..ramp up to the building.“

“We were pleased to find this place - I had the mapo tofu (with pork, medium spicy) which was VERY good and could feed two with the suggested - and essential - side order of rice for the tasty sauce. Some places in Hawaii have bland food for too much money - this is not like that, which is fabulous. Very tasty, well seasoned, I would totally order this again and look forward to it. She got the seaweed salad and a specialty sushi roll, which were good too.
Fast, friendly service rounds it out.
Definitely recommend!
Parking: There’s a good sized free lot on the next street up away from the waterfront and a block or so away, but it was pretty packed. We got lucky and found a spot. They do validate parking at another parking lot, it’s worth calling and asking where *before* parking your car if you can’t get a spot in the free municipal lot.“

“Don't let the look of the restaurant deter you from trying it out. Stopped by twice (once for breakfast and got the corned beef hash, once for dinner and got the Captain's Platter) and enjoyed both meals. Good portions for the price too. Would go back again to try other menu items.“

“My husband got a ninja star roll and said this was some of the best sushi he’s ever had. The wait time said 2 hours when we first walked up, but we only got the 1 roll and only waited maybe 10 minutes, so we were really happy about that.

“Okay I was very skeptical when this was suggested in my group. As tourists, it seemed like a weird hang. I was proved wrong. Go to the left side of the building, away from the bowling alley, and it was quieter and more diner like.The teriyaki and the pork and cabbage plates was delicious. Lots of food given! We may just be back and bowl next time :)“

“I can’t say enough good things about 808 Grindz Cafe. We ate here TWICE during our vacation because the food was absolutely amazing, and the flavors were spot on. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a great meal with family or friends.
The prices were very affordable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It’s rare to find such a gem that delivers so much without breaking the bank. “We ate here after 12 hours of traveling and could not have been happier. The service was so friendly and outdoor seating with tiki torches and a view of the water was great. My son isn’t always the most adventurous eater but he asked to try the clams from my seafood stew and pronounced that he “loves clams more than pizza”. It was his first time trying it. He had the kid’s grilled cheese with fries, and myself and my friend had the Crabby Patties crab cakes, cocktails, fish n chips and seafood stew. Everuthing came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was just what we needed after airport food all day.“

“Best Chinese Restaurant on entire Big Island! And I'm Chinese American from NYC! I don't do Buffet because it's not fresh, might cost less but full of MSG. I recommend ordering fresh cooked, directly from Kitchen. Specify your dietary peculiarities. For ex. I have Diabeties Melitus 2 thus I ask for less sugar, and no Monosodium Glutomate which causes me to feel ill. When you specify, and dining there, the staff and Proprietors appreciate generous amount of Tips! Thank you!“

“Delicious lunch to-day— crab cakes especially tasty and moist with side of garlic mashed potato and other diner enjoyed a chargrilled fish burger with a side of fresh vegetables. “Incredible fresh ahi!!! My friend and I visited on a Sunday night around 6:30. We sat at the bar because there was a line and it was the perfect spot for us. We both got the poke flight with rice and a mai tai (not the ordinary Mai tai but HUGHKY recommend! Very boozy so beware if you do not like that but I love it). You get to choose 4 of their house pokes which are all incredible! I will be here every time I visit the island 🤙🏻 Aloha!

Parking: Gets busy right by the restaurant as there are a ton of places in the Sam spot, but there is a parking lot right over the fence (have to walk around) that always has open spots.
