The food for our recent party with guests from our islands, plus mainland cities and Australia, called for varied tastes. The Food Company offered perfect selections, getting raves!! “So good! Driving up to the North Shore from the airport we wanted something local. Family owned. No frills just awesome chicken. So juicy. We all had sandwiches and the pulled chicken is more like chunks with some pulled. Not overly shredded. And not doused with sauce. Just a nice enhancement. We had the melts and they were delicious. The bread is crusty but soft inside. An easy bite. And my son loved his Cajun fries. Off street parking in the rear.“

Servers were great, although a bit understaffed with only one bartender to start with, she was great and doing an amazing job, but thankfully a second arrived later and gave the first some relief. I especially liked the snack course - the waygu kimbap was probably one of the most delicious bites I've had. “You have GOT to try the Loco Fries. I am very picky on my fries (can't be too thick, crispy outside that holds up underside (doesn't get too soggy), still be soft inside, well seasoned) and these fit the mold. If you go later in the day they may run out of some food supplies, but everything is fresh and made to order. You can upgrade the regular fries to Loco fries in a meal. Overall it will cost anywhere form 27 to 35 bucks for a meal. But thats Hawaii life eh. MUST TRY.“

“My husband was in search of some good fish in Waikiki. We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. I’m not a seafood person so I got the chicken pasta and he tried snapper for the first time. Both of us were blown away by how tasty everything was. The portions were huge too! Out of all the places we had been to during our trip, this place is at the top. Even as a non fish eater, I loved it! There can be a wait, but it is well worth it. Try it, you’ll love it.“

The food was inspired, creative, delicious, and locally sourced. Though the portions of each dish looked small, it was more than enough food and so delicious you wanted to eat every bite! The wine pairings were spot on, absolutely perfect with our chosen courses. The space has such a lovely vibe - clean and modern, but comfortable and well appointed. There really isn't another dining experience quite like this on the island. Justine and Kevin have created such a beautiful place with incredible food and service. Pai is definitely a must-try restaurant. We will definitely be back.“

“South Shore Grill has been part of my routine for close to 20 years. It’s a family‑run business with a lot of heart, and I’ve watched the owners’ kids grow up working behind the counter. The food is consistently good, the prices are fair, and there’s a great variety to choose from. It’s an easy stop before the beach or park, or the perfect place to refuel after a day in the surf. My go‑to is always the fish burrito. The cajun seasoning and macnut pesto are always on point. Truly one of those local spots that feels like part of the community.“

Don’t miss out on the Banana Flower Salad, very unique and delicious! We also shared a Banh Mi sandwich, tasty but our least favorite item. And also shared the Gochujang Ramen, it looked and smelled so good we forgot to take a pic until it was half eaten. The very-friendly staff warned us that it would be very spicy “a 7 or 8” but we found it to be more of a 4-5 and absolutely delicious! The Salad and Ramen were tied for our favorite.
