“My husband was in search of some good fish in Waikiki. We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. I’m not a seafood person so I got the chicken pasta and he tried snapper for the first time. Both of us were blown away by how tasty everything was. The portions were huge too! Out of all the places we had been to during our trip, this place is at the top. Even as a non fish eater, I loved it! There can be a wait, but it is well worth it. Try it, you’ll love it.“

“The first fish I sampled had me ready to buy two bowls immediately. They told me it was “previously frozen fresh” — I don’t even know how that works, but it didn’t matter because it tasted like it was caught five minutes ago by someone who takes their job very seriously.

Then the lady goes,

Me: “…Excuse me?”

Next thing I know, I’m leaving with six different pokes, a spam musubi, and this egg-wrapped poke bite that felt borderline spiritual.

“Birthday dinner. Excellent service and great food. Ordered the Pau Hana dish for the two of us, along with a drink and wine. Service and the food was excellent. Was surprised that the server gave us a birthday cake on the house even though we ordered the specialty dessert pineapple upside down cake, which was the bomb. She, the waitress was very kind and catered to our needs. Thank you. We will be back again. Best service ever. Mahalo“

“If in doubt on which poke place to try, visit this place first. The poke is made fresh, which is a different approach to the otherwise premade ones elsewhere. There are many options and combinations for ingredients, toppings and condiments. Personally, the store recommended ones are the best way to start as their flavour profiles and textures felt the most balanced compared to my own creations.

There are long queues at different times of the day, but we managed to order just before the crowds started. Seating is available next to the store.“

“Fresh Catch is a fantastic spot for fresh fish & poke dishes. A deli style counter inside with simple menu items & pictures makes even a first time customer feel comfortable. The waiting area is just that, a place to sit and wait, though the service is fast and friendly. By the time you casually look at the all pictures, you’re order will be coming along & be careful of the heat on the bottom of to-go trays, I almost burnt myself, but that’s okay because it’s fresh! “We got takeout here. I got fish and chips and my boyfriend got the garlic shrimp. We got takeout to take with us on the beach to watch the fireworks on Friday night. It was amazing. They were really fresh, highlight for me was the fish and chips. They gave French fries but also sweet potato fries, which was an amazing touch.

Not sure about dining in… It is in an alleyway, so not the best views, but the workers looked like they kept everything clean, service was quick… And everyone was extremely extremely friendly. May try again, but dine in next time that we are around.“

“Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for poke nearby. Went to Foodland market like lots of people suggest but that one was not it! The man working at paradise poke was so nice, I got the Hawaiian bowl with had kalua pork 1 choice of poke and lomi salmon (which he advised me was just a tomato onion mix with little pieces of cooked salmon NOT a salmon poke) also we tried the shoyu ahi bowl and the ginger scallion ahi bowl. All the bowls were so good and fresh tasting we had poke here about 2 more times on our trip! I my husband and 2 kids loved this poke place! It's a decent amount of food for $15. The next times I got the bigger $18 bowl that you can choose two poke or just double up on one. Also got some cookies here The Cookie Lady Hawaii cornflake cookies! They're so crispy and delicious! I recommend coming here and if the small tables just outside the door are not sufficient there's an area just around the other side of the building where you can sit and eat! Must try!!!!“

I’m from Oahu and haven’t had a favorite poke spot besides places I’ve been on Big Island or Foodland, but this place is an easy favorite. The guys who work here know their stuff haha, you get so much food too and the cost is worth it for the quality.“

“Seriously best garlic shrimp we have had on our trip! Just sad we found it on our last night here. We ordered 6 plates and our groups was fighting over the last bits of sauce soaked rice! Steak was cooked perfectly. Salad was great selection of crisp fresh greens with the right amount of dressing. Mac salad was plain-the way it should be! Why ruin a good thing and add tons of stuff! And the shrimp! Onolicious is the only word I can use. It was garlicky without being overwhelmingly garlic. Mahalo! Hope we get back soon.“

“Thai Issan has recently opened a second restaurant at the place that Thai Village was operating from.

The dishes were very traditional with fresh ingredients. I tried its Larb with pork and that was really good. We also got the drunken noodles with chicken and it was decent, not overly sweet.“

The stuffed bean curd was the standout while the baked manapua was flavorful although I was not a fan of the sugar coated topping. Personally, I prefer having the cart service with steaming baskets rolling by so I can pick what looks good but that is just personal preference. The staff did a great job being attentive and bringing the bamboo steamers straight to the table and everything arrived hot and fresh from the kitchen.“

“Everytime I come visit family, we always have come to Lobster King for dinner and it never disappoints. The night we went, there was no crab so we settled with the lobster and it was wonderful. The staff was very apologetic and very fun to joke around with. They came out with a lobster and had some of us take pictures with them. I love their Salty fish fried rice!!!! so good!!!“

“We decided to try the lunch special here and we were happy with what we got. For two people we had ordered more food than we could both eat but everything came out great. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The only downside was the fact that they ran out of noodles for the beef brisket we ordered but the look fun was still just as good. Although we didn't have any wine they also stock a pretty big inventory of it at reasonable prices so if you're looking to share a bottle or have one for yourself you can do it without breaking the bank. Overall I would come back here for lunch.“
