“The food at Monterrey tastes good, and the service is certainly decent enough. The restaurant, like many chain Mexican restaurants, goes a bit over the top with 'decorations' that are just a little too stereotyped.

I got the chicken fajita this evening, and while good, the amount of chicken in the mix was a bit low. I understand that it's the most expensive part of the meal, but there are several other Mexican places in town that have fajitas for the same price, or even cheaper, and that regularly give notably more chicken than they did.

Overall, while tasty, I felt the food was a bit expensive given how little meat was actually in the fajita mix.“

“This is some of the best vegan food in Des Moines. Whole food, plant based, ingredients that you can pronounce. I’ve been ordering for a year now and love ALL that I’ve ordered. “My family and I recently stopped at Smash Park in Des Moines on a whim for some family fun and food. The atmosphere was laid back and our kids thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pickle ball courts and the arcade. Food, dessert and drinks were all crowd pleasers! And to go completely over the top, we left our blanket outside and Jerry answered my phone call, went outside to retrieve it from the bench where I left it, and mailed it back to me free of charge. The waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing, and our waiter in particular was so friendly and recommended the crab stuffed walleye, which was to die for! The environment was classy and intimate, yet casual enough that it felt comfortable and warm. The best part of the meal was the appetizer- the seared ahi tuna is too good for words, just trust me on this and order it! This was a great place to visit for my birthday dinner, and we definitely plan on being back.“

When I’ve been in the store (Urbandale), it’s been clean and organized with friendly staff present. The menu items I’ve ordered (mostly poultry) has been great! Breakfast, cappucino and pastries are outstanding. French cooking with butter, a la Julia Child’s. They also sell Italian dishes for home that need a little bit extra salt and pepper for more of a flavor punch, but with authentic home type recipes that are healthier than your average big factory manufacturing“

“My husband and I wanted to try a new breakfast place. We heard about Breakfast Club and decided to try the West Des Moines location. Parking was convenient. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Fun atmosphere, great food and coffee selection! Our waitress Maddie gave us tips on the menu and was very friendly and attentive. “The online menu is not the same as the actual menu. I had Iowa Surf and Turf. It was very good. The vibe was weird. Sushi bar and Bob Marley. The bartender was also trying to play host. Lots of yelling “I’ll be with you”. Saturday afternoon. 3ish. Let anyone sit where they want. Food was very good. But odd atmosphere. Not on my go to list.“

Our friends took us here several years ago and we really enjoyed the experience...finally getting the chance to return and found it just as impressive.

We started with drinks, including a Bloody Mary with Mezcal (see picture) and an After Midnight - both quite tasty. We then ordered Collective Wings (see picture) as an appetizer and found them so delicious that we were tempted to order more of them for our meal.

For our dinner, my wife ordered the Cubano (see picture) and I opted for the Squash Risotto (see picture). As we always do, we shared tastes of each both of us thought that both meals were good enough to order again and recommend.

A great place to eat towards the north end of the Valley Junction 'Strip' with an amazing atmosphere and fantastic service.

I recently also had them cater a Saturday lunch at work for us and they knocked it out of the park! Eddie is a phenomenal asset to this restaurant. Always friendly and helpful. “One of our local favorites! Discovered Fresh this summer and it’s a regular in our rotation now. Food is reliably delicious, reasonably priced with generous portion, and service is always friendly and quick. The patio is nice in good weather, and actually pretty quiet for being right along Hickman. I also ordered a family meal with a side of falafel for a group dinner I hosted last night - says feeds 4-5, but our group of 6 had plenty to eat plus we have leftovers that will last my husband and I several days. A great deal and mix of food to meet multiple dietary preferences. Highly recommend checking them out!“

“The pizza is excellent! The small pizzas are larger than a dinner plate, and are a great deal when 1/2 price on Mondays. Quattro formaggio was delicious and had a ton of flavor. Even the carnivore at the table didn't miss the meat.

Service was ok. They were super busy so not sure if they were short staffed or if our experience was normal. Had to cancel a second beer ordered because we had finished dinner and it still hadn't arrived. Bill was dropped off without the specials discounted and had to be reprinted. Waiter was friendly and apologetic about the misses. Prior to being seated the hostess seemed very confused about table status.

Atmosphere is busy, it looked like the kitchen staff were having a great time and enjoying the dinner rush. It's fun to watch the pizzas being made.“
