The birria tacos were around $18 and they were very good. My only complaint is that the meat itself could have had more flavor, I think it was not properly salted. But it was cheesy, meaty, and crunchy. They gave me a ton of consume, too much. That didn’t have as much flavor as I would have wanted either, and salt would have helped. But you could just add salt and everything would be 2x as good.
The rice and beans were pretty good.
Also, the salsas that they have are unfortunately not to my taste. They are very spicy, and I love a spicy salsa, but they lack balance and are very one note. They are spicy without any depth or acidity. You may like this kind of salsa.
But the family was very nice and the food was all very good depending on your tastes. Very high quality and I will be coming back again.“

“The food and drinks were good, the service was attentive and friendly but let the buyer beware! The waitstaff asked: "Celebrating a birthday?" Let us get you some shots! This happened twice however, all the shots ended up on our bill and it was $56 for four shots! Twice!“

It looks small from the outside, but it’s enormous in flavor! It’s a very cute and nicely decorated place. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. But the food… it rocks! We ordered the Orden de Quesobirria and a Carne en su Jugo and a Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water) and a Horchata (rice water). The Carne stew was delicious! So many levels of flavors. “I stopped by with my toddler and was immediately greeted by staff. Ordered the breakfast burrito and a taco and rice for my daughter and the food was delicious. The rice was flavorful, the tortilla was fresh and the best part was the agua de Mango. Will definitely have to stop in again and try other items on the menu.“

“An absolute neighborhood gem! The food was fresh and delicious. From the minute my husband and I walked in we felt super welcomed. The owner, Dr. Lulu is so kind, funny, and welcoming. We live in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. Great pozole, great nachos, fantastic lengua, asada cut for tacos is perfecta and tasty, and the fish tacos are actual fish—sooo good! We enjoyed the hospitality and we will definitely be returning! Try the café de casa! Delicious! It was also very nice to see how many regulars she has. You could tell everyone enjoyed Dr. Lulu’s bright personality .“

“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. “I had an incredible dinner at Hoja Santa in Oak Park. I ordered the medium-rare NY Strip Steak, and it was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The yuca fries with chimichurri were on a whole different level; truly out of this world. I paired everything with two glasses of cabernet, which made the whole meal even better. The ambiance is quiet and comfortable, making it a great spot to unwind, and the location is super convenient. What really stood out, though, was the staff. “Don’t skip on this place! This restaurant is very very good and underrated. Service and food is amazing. Lady that was serving us explained it was her and her family’s business and they are extremely kind and accommodating. It is easily one of our favorite spots. Highly recommend. “I tried out the carne asada taco dinner. It came with a scoop of rice, a bean puree, and three tacos. The were tacos very big and delicious and I felt full just eating two tacos and the sides. I was also given a complimentary soup that was in some savory broth, it tasted like fideo. For the quality of service and the price, I think this is a good spot and I would come back again.“

“We were looking for a place which would come to your home with their outdoor grill and cook for our guests.
Although there are many, all require a minimum of 50 guest and the cost is huge. My husband would always pick up tacos from Taqueria El Kacheton, he suggested we ask them if they cater for a small gathering. Luckily they said yes. The cook arrived early to started cooking, everyone LOVED the food. GREAT choice. The cook was professional and attended to what are guests wanted.“

“I ordered a half-diablo, half-green chilaquiles, while my husband opted for the morita ones. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The diablo chilaquiles were definitely made in hell, hahaha! Our favorite part was the side potatoes. The food tasted like breakfast made by grandma! The portions were huge; we only managed to finish half of it. And the coffee had that homemade taste. We’d go back for sure!“

“This is not a fancy place. This is, however, a great place to try for their family recipes. I grew up in North Texas so I have eaten in a few shredded cheese and lettuce joints. I didn't have high expectations; the local CPL librarian recommended it.\n\nI ordered Lobo en Chili de Arbol. I was warned the sauce was hot. It was terrific and flavorful.\n\nThe beans and rice were both excellent and home made. The salsas and guac were fresh, the relish was homemade, and the tortilla chips were very freshly prepared.\n\nConsidering the high quality and solid portion size, I found the prices reasonable.“
