“I finally got around to trying this place. I came here about quarter to noon on a Thursday. Initially, it was not busy at all. For some reason after I got my food, it became extremely busy, like people were waiting for tables to eat at. They have a bathroom or two, you have to go through the back of the kitchen. The parking lot when it’s not super busy is spacious. I think they have about 9 tables, give or take. I ordered the Italian beef (dipped, hot peppers on the side, sweet peppers on top, and mozzarella cheese) and the original famous hot dog. I got a large Pepsi but it was jumbo size compared to most places.

The Italian beef was very juicy. The giardiniera is mildly hot, not as hot as what people say. I liked that they gave me a ton of cheese and the sweet peppers were large. This is the real gem not the hot dog in my book. The original hot dog had a nice bite to it but it wasn't amazing. The fries were hand cut and crunchy. They give you a moderate amount of fries. Service was very friendly and fast. 4.4 on Google is more accurate to the experience than the 3.5 on Yelp.“

“Massive Doener with the REAL Fladenbrot (type of flatbread) just like in Germany!! Super yummy Garlic sauce and the Pommes (French Fries) are phenomenal - try it like the Germans do in Red (ketchup) & White (mayo). “Let me start by saying I absolutely love this place. Every meal I’ve ever had at Portillo's has been top-notch, and my latest visit to the Batavia location was no exception for the rest of my group, everyone was thrilled with their food as well as the cake shakes. However, I decided to try the breaded whitefish sandwich, and my specific order was a massive miss.

I am not exaggerating when I say the breading was thicker than the fish. If you looked closely, the slice of cheese was putting up a good fight for being thicker than the fillet, too. I even tried to take a picture to prove how shockingly thin it was, but even with my phone's zoom feature, the fish was indistinguishable from a couple of small pieces of lettuce because absolutely everything was buried under a tidal wave of tartar sauce (which I'm pretty sure weighed more than the actual whitefish).

In all fairness, I’ve since looked at pictures other people have posted, and it’s pretty clear my sandwich was an unfortunate exception. Other photos show a nice, thick breaded fillet, but my sandwich, aside from the bun, looked absolutely nothing like what others have pictured for this menu item.

I will absolutely be back for all my favorites, but the fish sandwich is a definite skip for me!“

“So my husband wanted to give this place a great review. He has been doing a HVAC project in Crystal Lake the past three days him and crew have been going for lunch here. First off I see mad people on here talking crap about this place. I am Greek my husband is puerto rican he loves Greek food! He has had many gyros though out all these years. The gyros was so good tasty and loved that they were packed as if your eating a pita in Greece Keep up the great work and don't let the people on these reviews get under your skin!!!!!
