We didn't expect chips & salsa, too, so that was a nice bonus :-) There were tons of compliments on the food...everyone *loved* it and wanted to know where we got it!

“I met the owners when we were both doing appearances on a morning news show. I have lived in Evanston for over 30 years; and, shame on me, did not know about Soul & Smoke. I went there that afternoon and have been back 3 times! The herb roasted turkey dinner with all of the sides was phenomenal! “We are so thrilled that we chose to go with Food for Thought for our August wedding! We got married at the Chicago Cultural Center, and while the venue has a number of preferred caterers, FFT was the one on that list that stood out to us. From the first phone call to the final calls and emails, they were so easy to communicate and plan with. Many of our guests said that this was the best food they've had at a wedding, and we agree we them! The hors d'oeuvres, salads, entrees, and custom drinks were all so delicious; everything turned out perfectly.
I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Kacilynn, who was the one responsible for planning, organizing, and executing everything for us. When we met her for the tasting, she happily answered all of our questions and was just so fun to talk and work with. I had countless questions and updates throughout the planning process, especially in the final weeks, and she was responsive to everything.
One special thing she helped with was the champagne flutes; I had thrifted, cleaned, and packed over 100 champagne flutes for guests to use and take home, and I had been nervous this would be a burden to them to deal with, but she assured me that it could be done. She took the time to help me decide on a display option for them, and her team cleaned them before and after the event and packed away any leftover flutes. Her attention to detail and her ability to pull everything together seamlessly is truly unmatched.
We are beyond grateful to Kacilynn, her team, and everyone else at Food for Thought for making the food and drinks a true highlight of our wedding!“

“I FOUND THIS PLACE AFTER BEING LET DOWN BY THE SLICE OF PIZZA I GOT FROM ANOTHER PLACE NOT TOO FAR FROM HERE. AFTER A QUICK GOOGLE I WAS LEAD TO THE BRIGHT PINK BUILDING THAT HAD SO MANY GOOD REVIEWS. WHEN I ARRIVED I SAW THAT THEY HAD SLICES AVAILABLE BUT THEY WERE SOLD OUT OF CHEESE AT THE TIME, SO I DECIDED TO JUST ORDER A SMALL CHEESE THIN CRUST SINCE I WAS ASSURED IT WOULD ONLY BE ABOUT 10 MINUTES. THE GUYS HERE WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND MADE THE 10 MINUTE WAIT GO BY WITH EASE. BEFORE I KNEW IT I WAS BEING TOLD THAT MY PIZZA WAS READY. I HAD TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE PIZZA BEFORE I LEFT OUT AND IT WAS A CLASSIC LOOKING THING OF BEAUTY. I HAD TO TRY A SLICE BEFORE CLOSING THE BOX BACK AND MY TASTE BUDS WERE GREETED WITH PIPING HOT DELICIOUSNESS. THE QUALITY OF THE SAUCE WAS VERY GOOD AND IT HAD THAT TRADITIONAL CLASSIC TASTE THAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A GREAT PIZZA. THE CRUST MAINTAINED ITS CRISP INTEGRITY, EVEN THOUGH I ASKED FOR A LITTLE EXTRA SAUCE ON IT. THE MELTY PULL ON THAT CHEESE WAS PERFECT FOR ME AS WELL. From the start, Liz stood out as incredibly receptive and accommodating. This continued throughout the process and culminated in their incredible service on our big day. We truly could not have pulled off our wedding day without her expertise and dedicated work ethic— even more so when we pushed up our wedding by almost a year. Thanks to Liz and her incredible staff, we had the day we had always imagined, put together in two months. We were even able to salvage our outdoor ceremony after an unseasonable cold snap, thanks to an eleventh hour heater acquisition. “Helfeld’s is arguably one of the best Jewish Deli’s in Chicago. They have simple menu with a lot of deli classics that they are experts at making.

My go to here is the Pastrami & Corned Beef combo. It comes absolutely loaded on rye with some mustard. Again, simple, but perfectly executed. The owners are also great, super friendly and always willing to give you a recommendation if you can’t decide what type of sandwich you want.

Definitely worth a stop in if you’re looking for a great sandwich in Chicago!“
