“It's small and quiet but so cute inside. We were here during some prime Saturday breakfast time with only two other people.

The food is fantastic. We'll be back to try more things for sure!

The cecina was tender and well seasoned, the chorizo was properly rendered, the black beans on the side were amazing!

I'm pretty sure the tortillas, both corn and flour, were homemade as well.

Vegan birria tacos (made with perfectly seasoned mushrooms) were excellent, though I have to admit the consomé wasn't, unfortunately. But the vegan soul plate was all good. The fried hearts of palm were tasty and crunchy, the mac and cheese was creamy and not too heavy, the sweet potatoes were Thanksgiving-y, and the greens did their job. “Hearty Boys took on a challenge and Chef Dan executed it so well. We hired them for our Arab American Wedding, and we wanted Middle Eastern inspired dishes and it is known that our cuisine isn't easy to make (even other Arab restaurants don't execute dishes well) and I can confidently say that Chef Dan & Angie did an AMAZING job. “I had the pleasure of experiencing Catering Out The Box after winning their service as an auction item at the Chicago Scholars Gala last fall and let me just say… this was one of the best auction wins I’ve actually used. From the start, working with the owners was seamless. We collaborated to create a progressive menu that felt completely tailored to our evening. What I appreciated most was the flexibility. There were plenty of options to choose from, and they were open to curating beyond the standard menu to bring our vision to life. The execution was next level. Their team arrived fully prepared with everything needed. Setup, prep work, bar service, cocktails, table presentation, and serving utensils… all handled. Truly a turnkey experience. All we had to provide was the alcohol and kitchen space. A special shoutout to Sergio, our server, and Chef Berta. The food was fresh, light, and the ingredients were perfectly balanced. “After trying Hortiport for a couple of weeks I can say that, compared to the other grocery delivery services, Hortiport eliminates the untrained ‘middle man’. This guarantees your box of goodness will be the freshest and most eye-pleasing, as if you hand selected them yourself! I also appreciated the well curated selection of foodie items from local vendors. (One of whom, coincidentally, is based just 2 blocks from my home!) “If I could give more stars, I would. Over the last couple years I have used many food delivery services, Hello Fresh, Freshly, Cook Unity, and now Wholsesome 360. The difference, QUALITY!!! Fresh ingredients, no fillers, high quality oils and fats, nice portions. Not that the other services are bad, but I compare them to frozen entrees at the grocery store, but taste a bit better. My Wholesome 360 entrees were restaurant quality, but with farm to table fresh ingredients-I could literally taste each of the food elements. If you are considering a food delivery service, I recommend paying the extra dollar per meal to get local fresh meals that are good for you, that heal you.“

“If you ever get invited to an event at The Mayfield on Archer in Chicago, do yourself a favor and go. Immediately.

We were there for a huge social club banquet, and the place was absolutely buzzing. The room was packed, the energy was high, the bartenders were clearly having a great time behind the bar, and the Shirley Temples were flowing like someone accidentally leaned on the soda gun for three straight hours.

Now before I even get into our night, I need to acknowledge another reviewer who once said this place is “2 Legit 2 Quit.”

After spending the evening there, I can confirm that statement is scientifically accurate. Atmosphere? Legit. Staff? Legit. Food? Legit. Hallways? Surprisingly legit. Carpets? Still legit. Bathrooms? Also holding strong in the legit department. Whoever wrote that review clearly did a full building inspection tour, and honestly I respect the thoroughness.

But the real MVP of the night was Kevin John, our table server.

Kevin John might be the quietest hardest-working server in the Midwest. No big announcements, no dramatic entrances — just pure efficiency. The man worked like a hospitality ninja.

Every time we looked down, more food plates had magically appeared on the table. No one asked. No one waved him down. Kevin John had already taken care of it. Plates cleared, new plates delivered, everything running like a perfectly organized banquet machine.

At one point we all realized something incredible: we had never once needed to ask for anything all night. Kevin John had already handled it before the thought even finished forming in our heads.

The man wasn’t just serving the table — he was quietly running a one-man food distribution operation while making it look effortless.

Between the fun crowd, the lively bartenders, the endless Shirley Temples, the legit carpets apparently approved by previous reviewers, and Kevin John making sure our table stayed well fed all night long, the entire event was fantastic.

If you’re hosting a banquet, party, or celebration, The Mayfield absolutely knows how to do it right.

And if you’re lucky enough to have Kevin John working your table, just sit back and enjoy the night — because that guy is making sure everything runs perfectly without ever needing the spotlight.

“It’s about time Chicago gets solid West African cuisine. Dozzy didn’t disappoint. Had the Designer Jollof Rice Bowl and it was delicious. I combined it with a couple orders of the shrimp suya sticks which put it over the top. Now, I loved the jollof, but that’s to be expected. What wasn’t expected was the shrimp. I can honestly say it was some of the best I’ve ever had. The herbs were perfect and it was grilled just the way I like it. From the very beginning, Amanda was very helpful in answering our questions, being responsive, and working with us to create a menu that we wanted. We were astonished by how much food was provided at our tasting, all super yummy, and so we eagerly booked them for our reception. We opted for family style so each guest could enjoy all the dishes, and boy are we glad we did! We had DOZENS of guests come up to us that night, and since, RAVING about every dish. “Where do I even begin...use Twilight Kitchen for all your catering needs!

I've visited Christopher's Sunday market a couple of times, and have also had some of his catering through my work, so when I needed a caterer for my wedding he was one of the first people I emailed!

He was able to work with our budget and came up with a DELICIOUS menu using super fresh and local produce. My husband and I went for a tasting before we committed and quite literally had no notes—it was all so amazing. Getting to eat our decided upon dinner was literally one of the things we were most excited for leading up to the big day!

He was very amenable when it came to guests allergies, and worked with our venue (which didn't really have a kitchen...) to figure out logistics on preparing and serving the food. All his wait staff were super friendly too!

Definitely don't sleep on trying Twilight Kitchen. We'll definitely be back soon for more sourdough and pimento cheese!“
