“The subs here are amazing—great cuts of meat, excellent flavor, and overall really high quality. My only complaint is the salad. I ordered one and it was mediocre at best: basically just shredded iceberg with a handful of black olives, a few pickles, and some cucumbers. For nearly $8, it felt like a rip-off considering I could’ve bought a whole bag of shredded iceberg at Juul for about a dollar. Iceberg doesn’t have flavor (it’s basically water), and while their vinaigrettes are delicious, they’d be much better served over a spring mix or microgreens. Bottom line: go here for the subs—the meatballs especially are phenomenal, I’d eat a whole bowl of them with gravy. But skip the salad, it’s not worth it.“

Parking: Lots of spots with a big parking lot and a little area up front by establishments.

Kid-friendliness: Amazing kid friendliness. They have “Little John’s” which is a mini sandwich available in Originals (#1-#6). They have some drinks that are not caffeinated such as Water, Lemonade, Fanta, and Sprite.“

“They Philly cheese steaks, so good very good Customer Service they fix your food The way you want to fix . I am a very particular either. I don’t eat at any restaurants. My son told me about them say they fool are so good so I took a chance tonight to try their Philly cheesesteaks when I tell you it was good. It was really good. “Great cheesesteak. A nice change from the usual gyro, hotdog, or burger and open late for another option besides Portillos in the area. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the mood for a change like I was!! Would only recommend takeout though…inside is nice but the whole place smells like diesel fuel because of the fuel tanks under ground in the gas station lots surrounding Charley’s….only disappointing take away. I’d get a headache eating inside for sure.

Parking: Only a few spots so take out is a better option.“

“I’ve been eager to try Mortadeli since it first opened, and after hearing so many rave reviews, I finally had the chance to stop by for lunch yesterday. Let me tell you, everything everyone says about this place is spot on! First off, the food is absolutely delicious. Everything on the menu is so tempting, it was hard to choose, but I went with the meatball sub and pasta salad. As someone whose grandmother made the best meatball sandwiches, my expectations were high – but Mortadeli’s version did not disappoint! It was fantastic. The pasta salad was also amazing, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere at Mortadeli is incredibly inviting – it strikes the perfect balance between classy and cozy. The staff are very friendly, and you can tell they genuinely care about making your experience special. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff and quick delivery of our food. One of the owners even took the time to chat with us a bit. Another pleasant surprise was the parking – I had my doubts at first, but we found a spot just around the corner with no problem at all. “I ordered the regular Philly cheesesteak combo with a peach lemonade. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is clean and atmosphere peaceful.

Cheesesteak: Tasty. Sufficient amount of food for the price. I would order again. Now, keep in mind, I am not reviewing its authenticity but taste. There are varying schools of thought on what ingredients should be included on a Philly cheesesteak.

Fries: Fresh and delicious. They literally make perfect fries. I got mine salt-free. Yum.

Lemonade: simply delicious. I usually skip the beverage when ordering a take-out meal. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. I don’t care for much sugar and this one was just sublime.

“Staff has changed over the years and they aren't their strongest right now. Call in orders should be simple but the cashier was very spacey and didn't want to charge me for what all I ordered thank God for the older cooks that kept telling her what I ordered!! And for a pick up it took awhile to just pick it up. Won't be going for a while“

“We were at a neighboring business and decided to try this out. What a stroke of luck? This place is great! The menu is divided into 5 sections. Cold Deli, Off the Grill, Create your own Dagwood, Veggie, and Wraps / Salads. I got the grilled Classic Italian on multi grain bread . The bread was substantial to hold up to the meat, but not dry. The sandwich overall was on the messy side, so be ready with some napkins. My brother got the Philly Cheese Steak, we are not from the east coast, so cannot validate the authenticity of the Philly portion of the name but he said it was a darn good sandwich and they did not skimp on the meat. My husband got the cold Ham & Swiss, but the staff offered to serve it hot. We also tried cheese bread with tomato sauce. This was OK. It would have been a fine snack, but the sandwiches turned out to be so big (we each got regular size - the large must be huge!), we really did not need the appetizer. The fries are "fresh-cut," and they really mean it! There is a hopper of russet potatoes (I guess about 50 potatoes) right next to the fryer. We did each have a chocolate chunk cookie (we really only had a bite of it because we were full), they are really spot-on with the "chunk" - the chocolate was substantial peices. A tasty end to the meal.“

“A longtime gem. Under newer ownership, the food is just as good as the original. Check out the freezer filled with an assortment of their amazing soups! Service isn't the fastest, but food is prepared as ordered. Decor is fun (Star Trek!), although starting to show its age (the poster of Mr Spock in the ladies room is getting ragged). Parking is a bear, many of the nearby spots must be paid online.“

“A lovely downtown sandwich shop. We got an Avocado BLT, Shrimp and Crab Roll, Turkey Club, and a Cubano. Everyone loved their sandwich and enjoyed the ice cream dessert too. Staff was very helpful and I loved the style of the restaurant. Our only critical comment was the turkey club could have used more bacon (which was delicious). We can't wait to come back!“

“Good place all around. If you're looking for a quick bite, this is a good place to stop. There's a big variety in sandwiches and salads to try, and of course there's pizza and panzaroti made in the word fire oven.

We had a sandwich and a salad the first time we went and they were very good. As were the cookies, and lots to choose from. Will have to go back and check their other offerings. It also has a deli counter with cheese and meats.“

“Sure! I had an amazing experience at Mr. Submarine at 8542 Ogden Ave in Lyons, IL. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, friendly service that made me feel truly welcomed. The staff was attentive, polite, and eager to make sure I had everything I needed, which really stood out.

I ordered a combo sub and a pizza puff, and I have to say, it was exactly what I needed. The food came out fast and fresh, which was a relief since it was the first thing I had eaten all day. “The food is tasty but I was shocked by the quantity of meat in my gyros plate. It was just a gyros sandwich in a container with fries and fixings. Everywhere else I get a gyros plate it has enough meat for 2 or 3 sandwiches.the subs seemed to be lacking meat as well. Again first time getting it there and was just surprised.“

“Asked for "everything except no mayo" on my sandwich. Poor lady started by putting mayo on it (probably out of habit since most folks want mayo) before realizing her mistake - even before I did. She apologized profusely and had them remake me a sandwich. It was literally the most minor inconvenience in the world that cost me a whopping 2 minutes of added wait time, but they still snuck a free chocolate chip cookie in my bag. Completely unnecessary but much appreciated! Yay for people who actually care about their customers (even though, again, in this case, it barely even qualified as an inconvenience to me, lol). Also the sandwich was delicious!“

“Jersey Mike's -Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. We are super picky about where we get sub sandwiches. Jersey Mike's fits the bill every time. Oakbrook Terrace is our favorite location because of Alicia. The food and smiles she serves is top notch. I'll add some photos in the future but for now, trust me the sandwiches are filled beautifully. Alicia runs the show here from top to bottom. I can't say enough about her fantastic presence. People have unlimited places to purchase sandwiches --- it really helps bring in customers when they can expect to see a long time employee there with such great energy.. When I went there around 6 p.m., the night crew was fantastic—professional, quick, and friendly. The salad was just perfect! “Mr. Sub has always been my favorite! Whenever people ask me why, I can never quite put my finger on it—I just say it’s simply the best. Over the years, I’ve rarely lived close enough to make it a regular stop, but it’s always been worth the drive.

When I was pregnant with my son 35 years ago, I craved submarine sandwiches constantly. Back then, I’d make the trip from Woodridge out to the Berwyn/Cicero or Brookfield locations just to satisfy that craving.

These days, if I’m anywhere near a Mr Submarine, I make it a point to stop. After all this time, my order hasn’t changed: a King size Mr. Sub sandwich (I save the other 1/2 for lunch the next day). The only difference now is I’ve added the garlic-parm fries to the mix—they’re so good we usually eat them in the car on the way back home to Sycamore.

The only thing I would change is to have a location in Sycamore, IL!
