“I’ve always enjoyed my meals here, but tonight was a disappointment. I started with the French onion soup. It was the highlight of my dinner. Delicious. I ordered the Saturday night special, prime rib and a baked potato. The prime rib was cold. Not even close to hot. I did not get a steak knife to cut it with. I had to use the knife that came with the bread. The baked potato was just ok. It did not have enough butter or sour cream for the whole potato. I usually really like L Woods, but was very disappointed tonight.“

I arrived close to closing but my host Linnette guided me through the menu and recommendations, mentioned some off menu items, and answered my questions on ingredients. She was very friendly. When my order was ready she walked through everything and ensured it was all there before I left. The food is absolutely mouthwatering delicious! I have had creamed spinach at many famous steakhouses across the country including in New York and Las Vegas and this creamed spinach is hall of fame worthy. Creamy smooth and delicious. The rye bread was fresh and chopped liver tasted great. The au jus for the prime rib sandwich was steaming hot and the side of au gratin potatoes was an excellent choice. The prime rib was nicely rare and fatty. The tiramisu topped it off with a deliciously rich flavor that reminded me of the Italian restaurants I ate at growing up in NJ. 10/10 fantastic experience overall! As I was leaving a nice gentleman said thank you for dining with us, just overall friendly nice place with extremely good food and a caring nice staff! Portion sizes were generous too!

Such a great place, where you cook the wagyu & kobe beef at your table. The food was delicious ?

Isao Tozuka, the chef and his wife Chiyo-san, are fabulous hosts, very friendly, and really happy to help and show you how things are do e.

I would definitely recommend coming here. It's a unique place. Make sure you book though ad it can be busy.“

“I came to a private event at Shaevitz. The staff was very kind and welcoming, the food was fantastic. The brisket and burgers are very flavorful. Shaevitz is conveniently located in downtown Highland Park with plenty of parking in the area. Supporting a conservative Kosher business is definitely a plus.

“An excellent Chinese BBQ place run by a very friendly and knowledgeable couple. They really know the art of BBQ and everything is cooked and prepared to perfection. The BBQ chef there had been around for at least a decade back from before the current owners took over the shop.

The prices are very reasonable and the taste authentic. The best part is buying BBQ from here saves me the time and hassle of going to Chinatown.“

We each had dinners, he choosing 1/2 baby back ribs, Mac and cheese, cornbread. I had 1/2 slab brisket, Mac and cheese and collard greens. Side portions were generous and the collard greens were fantastic! Mac and cheese was terrific and the meats were just perfect. Service was great and price was just as great. Washed it all down with classic Margaritas. Great addition to neighborhood in same spot Fat Willy’s left when closed for good.“

“It's been too long, Gale Street Inn! We missed the mouth-watering ribs, the classic cocktails, the skilled staff. Well, last night we finally made it back, along with couple friends visiting from Germany, and boy, you did no disappoint! Our friends were duly impressed with the classy supper-club-like atmosphere (we had to explain "supper club"), the size and flavor of the succulent ribs, the melt-in-your-mouth salmon, and a small, but well-curated beer selection. “Stopped in here with my dad while we were in Skokie and can confirm my dad was obsessed with the French fries (he ate the whole basket by himself). We split a kebab meal and the chicken was tasty. The baklava was excellent, and the whole restaurant overall was very clean. I def want to go back to try more of their food!“
