“I have been getting takeout from here on a roughly biweekly basis for the better part of a decade. Need I say more?

I will anyways! The customer service is great and the owners are incredibly kind. The takeout portions are huge and usually enough for more than one meal.

Favorite dishes: potatoes with mala sauce, crispy tofu, bok choy with garlic, mixed vegetables with curry sauce, three cup tofu, tomatoes and egg, and many others!

The space itself is pretty spartan, so I'd recommend it mostly as a takeout place rather than a place to dine in, but otherwise it's a perfect 10/10 for me!“

“By far, one of the best Chinese buffets in the area normally I go there for lunchtime however I went there This evening, near closing time they did not rush me. They were very polite. I did the takeout buffet for a reasonable price and the food was delicious andstill hot.“

“This is an underrated Chinese restaurant. Staff is very kind, and the food is great. The space itself is a bit of a hole in the wall, but it has its own charm, and the circular tables with a lazy susan at the center give an authentic experience. I love the tomatoes and egg, as well as the Di San Xian (Three Treasures from the Earth: Stir Fried Eggplant, Potato and Pepper). I wholeheartedly recommend it!“

I have tried multiple Chinese places in Bloomington & Red Lantern was by far, not only the best tasting, but also best quality and value across the board. I’ve only lived here about a year or two but ever since I found this place, i usually order take out at least every two weeks or so. It appears to be smaller & family owned. Hope that others continue to find them & come support the business as well. :)“

“The food was tasty although slightly oily. I wanted to substitute rice noodles for the white rice but they wouldn't let me. They wouldn't even let me pay extra for a side of rice noodles. I don't know why Chinese restaurants are so stubborn about issues like this. They at least let me substitute white rice for the fried rice. It was okay for a $10 lunch special.“

“When I first went in I felt like this place would be like any other, with the area looking like any normal restaurant. My server was great, but there was half of a language barrier between us, so my hopes weren’t very high. Once I got the food I was blown away. If I could I would give it 6 stars. I now never judge any restaurant I visit by its looks anymore, just because of this experience. A lesson I learned that seems to always be true is that the less language your server speaks, the better and more authentic the food is. Absolutely incredible.“

“Good value for a $12 Chinese lunch buffet. Great variety and the food was hot and fresh. Also fresh fruit for dessert as well as cakes. You can have a little taste of everything here as opposed to one overly greasy Chinese entree at other Chinese restaurants. The only challenge is not overeating!“
