“We sat for a late light lunch at the bar. The restaurant is small, but intimate. I loved it actually. The bar is very spacious and large. Great drinks, we had great food. The Hummus was made fresh and the vegetable choices were farm fresh! Love that. The pita’s that come with it are fantastic as well. My husband had a sandwich, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I can’t wait to go back and have dinner or brunch!“

“My husband and I took three of our kids to this location yesterday for lunch. We’d never been to a First Watch before, but we knew to expect excellent quality food with a healthy, comforting twist; right up my alley! WOW! We were SO impressed! From our initial greeting coming into the restaurant all the way to the end of our visit, we were treated with happy smiles, incredible customer service, prompt wait times, and delicious meals. Our kids enjoyed chocolate chip pancakes with sausage and bacon. Their protein selections were unmatched with appropriately larger portions than most, enough to satisfy two growing boys! They couldn’t say enough about the flavor and quality. My husband and I tried dishes including hash potatoes, fresh market veggies, beautifully cooked eggs, and their whole grain toast - that was a treat! As someone who isn’t a fan of toast, in general, making a meal out of this whole grain toast, house-made butter and preserves would be easy to do. Lovely atmosphere, obvious camaraderie among the staff, fun culture, exceptional product! We left happy and eager to experience First Watch again very soon. “It had been a while since we ventured into downtown KCMO, and we genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. Overall, the food was good, though not quite at the level we expected for the price. One clear takeaway: avoid the fried items. We wish we had read the negative reviews beforehand, because the wings were unfortunately the worst we’ve ever had overly oily and lacking flavor. As a big wings fan, the execution was especially frustrating: the batter wasn’t right, the texture was greasy, and the seasoning simply missed the mark. The shrimp toasts were also disappointing—very soggy bread to the point that I felt it wasn't cooked in the middle.

That said, the “Japanese‑style” dishes featuring raw fish were much better. The sushi taco was a standout, and my friends really enjoyed the bone marrow beef tartare. For the main course, the scallop pasta had great potential, but the salt was heavy—particularly on the scallops and toward the bottom of the bowl, even after mixing.

On a positive note, the drinks, desserts and service were excellent, easily deserving five stars.“

“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“We chose to dine at Grand Street - Plaza on a recent Tuesday due to good experiences in past years, close to KC Rep theatre where we were going afterwards, and convenient, free parking. Though their normal parking lot is torn up, we had the choice of attached parking garage (very convenient after entrance is found) or parking on the other side of the building. We enjoyed house salads, the trout and salmon main dishes, and house drinks (happy hour prices). The lady who served us did a great job.“

“I'm not so sure about the Westport location after witnessing an employee kind of heavy set with dreads died at the tips snorting cocaine in the back by the dumpsters and selling drugs he had to be the cook and I just do not want any fairy dust on my waffles or my chicken I rather go braid water or bite the curb that is not what I expected to see when pulling up and I definitely don't want to spend my money with an establishment that knowingly hires drug addicts“

We could see the city life below from our corner room, but most of the noise was completely blocked out! The hotel bar and the terrace bar were both amazing! And breakfast at the hotel was to die for! We will definitely be staying again!“
