“Five Stars Isn’t Enough!
After an incredible weekend in New Orleans, I found myself with a few hours to spare before my flight. With luggage in tow and my work computer in hand, I stopped into Tavern on Citrus—and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend the day.
What was meant to be a quick stop turned into a six-hour visit (thanks to a delayed flight), and honestly, I was grateful for the extra time. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an unbelievable level of hospitality and warmth. It felt less like I was dining in a restaurant and more like someone had called ahead to say, “Make room—we’ve got a guest who belongs here.”
The food? Absolutely delicious. The service? Impeccable. Every person I interacted with went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I even had the chance to enjoy some great conversation with the staff while getting a bit of work done.
They kindly let me charge my electronics, and I left feeling full, refreshed, and truly cared for. But the real test of character came when I accidentally left my work laptop behind—something incredibly valuable to both me and my organization. By the time I realized it, I was halfway to the airport. I called in a panic, and not only did they have it safely behind the counter with a note and my name on it (they had pulled my info from my card to make sure it got back to the right person), but the owner personally ran out to hand it off to my Uber driver curbside so I wouldn’t miss my flight.
As someone who has worked in recruiting for the hospitality industry, I’ve always said: you can teach someone the policies, the systems, the menu—but you can’t teach someone how to genuinely care. That’s what true hospitality is, and Tavern on Citrus has it in abundance.
I left not only with a full belly, but with the kind of impression that lasts. I genuinely felt sad to leave, and now this spot is permanently on my must-visit list every time I’m in New Orleans. If you’re looking for amazing food, authentic service, and a reminder of what hospitality really means—this is your place.“

“We were blown away on our first visit this morning!! Ryan is a talented mixologist in the bar creating beautiful, delicious and truly unique drinks. Our server Louis was incredibly charming and attentive, giving us excellent menu choices —as it was a hard decision. Every dish was a work of art—both in presentation and flavor. The whole experience was top-notch, and we can’t wait to come back!“

“I will always be grateful to this place. I used to work in the French Quarter and my shift would end at 3am 4am and 5am this was my safe place to go sit inside and sometimes have an Irish Coffee which is delicious by the way. They made sure I was safely in a cab or an Uber.❤️“

“My favorite bar in New Orleans! Amazing staff with great service, always friendly and ready for conversation. Queer/trans-friendly. Quirky weird shit playing on the TVs. Usually late night food trucks from local vendors, including awesome yakamein, a New Orleans classic.“
“There is no place like the saddle bar in or around Nola. It’s always a blast when I go there.“

“My mom and I had an incredible stay at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel—a true gem in the heart of the French Quarter. The hotel is stunning in its historic charm, beautifully maintained, and thick in the character you come to New Orleans to experience. Its location could not have been more convenient—everything we wanted to see and do was within easy walking distance. The staff was outstanding from start to finish. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and when we had a small issue with the toilet, it was resolved quickly and kindly. Every detail was taken care of—even some we didn’t know we needed. A special thank you to David out front who went above and beyond to serve us. My mom is handicapped, and he personally managed the delivery and return of her electric wheelchair rental with patience and care. His kindness and attention meant so much to us. This hotel met every need and then some. Five stars—10/10 recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans. We’ll absolutely be back!“

“I went into this bar at about 1:30 a.m. because they had a good sounding band playing covers of classic rock and it looked interesting. I had two double bourbons and a Sazerac and I really don't remember the rest. I may or may not have been roofied, but fair chance I just had too many drinks.“

“Cozy ambience with a unique, delicious drink menu. They also offer their kitchen to local food businesses, and the Asian fusion one there when I went was phenomenal. Donavin makes a wonderful drink called “Thank You for Being a Friend” with Louisiana run, almond, passionfruit, and smoky amaro – must try! I was in town for the Home + Garden Show, and Barrel Proof was the perfect unwind!“

“Have been a Chart Room patron for many years. It's pretty much a plain ol' bar with great juke box and veteran bartenders serving typically strong and inexpensive drinks. About half locals, half out-of-town visitors, most of the out-of-towners being frequent NOLA visitors. At one time I suspected that a few of the regular characters were sent over by Central Casting, but have been going there long enough to now know they're genuine. A recent ownership change, but based on my last visit, no discernible (to me) change.“

“Amazing spot with a stellar remodel. Megan and Nikki are the best bartenders! Came on band night, and Rock N’ Soul was on fire! Daiquiris were awesome, and the new Harry Potter Butterbeer flavor is a game-changer. Highly recommend checking it out!“

“Stopped into this little neighborhood bar and had one of the best experiences thanks to the bartender, Lorna. Not only were the drinks spot-on (perfect balance, not watered down, and served with skill), but the genuine hospitality stood out even more. She took the time to chat, give great local recommendations, and made everyone feel like a regular even if it was your first time in.“

“One of my favorite bars in Nola. The good kind of divey, a list of Boilermakers, and you can order from sidecar next door (some of the best raw oysters in Nola, and also their full menu), they'll deliver it right to your seat at the bar.“
“Pete Scherer was my great uncle. I remember when I was a little girl my great grandma (Pete's sister, Irene) and my nanny (Eileen) used to take me to the bar to see Uncle Pete every Saturday after dancing school. It really is great to see that the place he loved so much is still open. ❤“

“We had a wonder time at the Chandelier Bar! The setting is beautiful filled with natural light. The DJ was accompanied by a live sax! I made reservations for 8 and we had a seating area reserved for us. The cocktails were fun and creative. It was a wonderful end to a special Christmas week with our children and their spouses. I highly recommend an afternoon at the Chandelier Bar!“
“I live close by and have passed this place so many times on the way to work but never had the time to stop in until today cos I wanted a fun place to go to celebrate my birthday and I've never been one for the maddening crowd that goes along with the vibe that Bourbon St. has. This place is absolutely a great little gem for those who just want to relax and have a drink. The bartender is a complete sweetheart and so friendly, the drinks are very affordable AND strong and I very much enjoyed celebrating my birthday there! It's kind of like the New Orleans version of Cheers LOL I just hope at some point they will have karaoke on the weekends but I will definitely be frequenting there more often from now on.“

“DIVINE! I had such a good time! Had a few cocktails and snacks while chilling out and resting tired feet after touring the AMAZING WWII Museum! I came up at 4:30 and stayed past 8:00 to get pictures of the fabulous sunset from the outdoor terrace. The only thing that took away from an otherwise perfect experience was a bunch of noisy unattended little rug rats running around, screeching like Banshees and disrupting adulat at a place kids should not even be allowed in! It's a wine and cocktail bar, not ChuckieCheeses! Ugh! I do not understand parents who so rudely disrupt a place and time for adult who do not want such obnoxious interrupting! It really is thoughtless and rude! I do wish the wait staff had told them no minors!
I even moved from one end of the terrace to the other to get away from the bratty daycare and they followed me! It was so disrespectful! Next time: these people need to spend a few of the MANY $$$$$ they spent on a babysitter! The certainly splurged on the drinks and food so they could afford it and there were several families and generations. Someone could have babysat or afforded a babysitter! 😡😡😡“

“This is a hidden gem in New Orleans. If you like authentic Greek food you MUST come here. It’s fresh, made from scratch daily and the most luxurious. Try the ouzo drinks, flaming cheese, pork belly yeero, and orange cake made with a decadent orange glaze. The service is amazing! Luka was so kind, gracious, informative. Please help support this business. You won’t be disappointed. There’s a million other Cajun restaurants…go Greek! Please!“

“We recently stopped by this spot and tried the fish tacos, chicken tacos and a smash burger. Overall, the meal was enjoyed.
The only slight disappointment was the chicken tacos, which were a bit on the dry side. Seasoning was good but a sauce would be great to tie it all in together.
Even with this minor issue, everything else was tasty. I would come back for the fish tacos and burger alone.“

“This was my second time in New Orleans with my wife. We stopped at the “Boondocks Saints” as we did the last time we were here. This is an awesome bar and they made us feel like one of the regulars. Our bar tender was Ally, she filled us in on what was going on and gave us great advice on local establishments. We were there quite a while and the total came to what we paid for two drinks at another bar. I highly recommend this bar when you come to the French Quarter.“
