“Let me start with the staff, very friendly and welcoming. The best I've seen in Boston thus far. So thank you for the great hospitality Bosso.
The food was great. Their hand rolls are delicious. I also had hokkaido croquettes; these were special. I would definitely come back and try more of their dishes.“

“A small restaurant that specializes in handrolls. They have a few appetizers but the menu is mainly handrolls. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered chawanmushi and salmon cups for apps and I ordered the salmon hand roll, eel hand roll, and botan ebi ikura hand roll.Salmon cups - crunchy cups filled with bits of buttery soft raw salmonChawanmushi - very smooth. The ikura gel complements the egg very well and gives it an umami taste. However a bit disappointed it’s just egg and it doesn’t come with the small bits of veggies/seafood most chawanmushi does.Salmon hand roll - the simplisticity of the ingredients brings out the taste of the salmon. One of the best hand roll I hadBotan ebi ikura - the chefs went heavy on the lime zest, and I couldn't taste the sweet shrimp. However the shrimp does look super freshNo reservation and no alcohol. Full party must be there before seating“

“So delicious!!! Nice clean interior, the service is so friendly, probably suitable for smaller groups (max like 4-5 people, any more and it will be crowded/hard to get seating)
The food was absolutely amazing and so flavorful with many options. I got the tan tan noodles, and you can ask for a small bowl of rice to go with any leftover sauce in your bowl.“

“This was one of the BEST omakase experiences I have ever had. The attention to detail was extraordinary. I ate at several two and three star Michelin restaurants last summer in France and I was happier with my dining experience at Umami. The quality of ingredients is absolutely stellar and it is truly a treat for all the senses. Go!!“

“I tried this restaurant today and loved it. The fish and octopus were super fresh so I highly recommend trying anything with seafood in it. We also had a mushroom tofu dish, a couple of salads, and the strawberry tapioca dish and everything was so flavorful. A plus is the space which was really pretty and in such a nice location. I am glad to have discovered this gem of a restaurant and am definitely coming back!“

“Nice spot on the way home from Longwood and right next to BU. Comfort food and reasonable prices.
I enjoy the Kamo Nanban udon — duck slices an a tasty noodle soup. The side sauce is a delicate sour, pairs really well with the meat.“

“A cute “mom and pop” shop where a friendly older woman feeds you bigger bowls of food than you except and with such a warm feeling. It tasted like home-made food and all for $28 total (for 2 people). I loved it here and definitely want to come back.
Highly recommend the vegetable tempura and the katsu gyudon. The vegetables are marinated and seasoned to perfection.“

“The room was extremely empty with no decor or anything, just a few tables in a room with some ceiling lamps. Service was good, though there was only one waitress but luckily there weren't many people so I would recommend going on a less busy hour or day. The food was pretty good like the tempura sushi and the sirloin steak as well as the raw salmon and miso soup. The only few items I didn't enjoy as much was the eel egg omelet we ordered but besides that it was decent.“

“As a college student in Somerville, I went this place every single week. After 15 years, I came back with my family and had all my favorite dishes including Wafu hamburg, katsudon, tonkatsu curry, and beef with tofu. They are all still super delicious, and I definitely will come back here when I visit Boston!“

“My spouse and I have been coming to Yama for over 20 years, and we have always enjoyed meals together, with family and with friends. The meals are well prepared and attractively plated. Service is personable and excellent even when they are busy. [As an observation more than criticism, Asian restaurants in general have had to struggle obtaining and affording top quality rice of all sorts, from Japanese-grown short grain to premium Indian basmati. Unfortunately, it seems Yama is no exception — the rice is good and acceptable, but not exceptional.] Lunch bento boxes and sashimi/sushi specials are excellent and good value.“

“Love the food but their delivery is getting worse and worse. If you order before 5 p.m. it is nice if it can be delivered by 6:30 pm (especially if that is the window they promised). Did all we can to keep this place open during the pandemic but may need to start looking elsewhere for our family's sushi fix. VERY disappointed about their service.“

“Enjoyed the 갈비 비빔밥 (Galbi Bibimbap) which is essentially marinated beef short rib in a mixture of white rice and fresh vegetables and a fried egg. It was delicious and an enjoyable experience watching the food cook in the hot bowl right in front of me. The rice at the bottom crisped up and gave the dish that extra crunch I was not expecting. It was a pleasant surprise and I'd come again.“

“The sushi is good here. They put a lot of large pieces of fish on their rolls and the ingredients like the rice and what not are usually fresh. I usually just stick to 2 or 3 of my go to rolls there. Rainbow roll, spicy tuna and the torched roll. Usually 1 waitress handles all the tables during a lunch or dinner service and food comes out fast.“

“The food was great. The portions were big. My husband and I ordered from "all you can eat menu" and it was enough for two of us. We were able to finish everything. We also got crab salad and it was nice. My favorite was "Snow Mountain Maki." The atmosphere is good, not noisy. The servers are nice. For dessert, I had green tea ice cream and it was delicious. You have to be super hungry to go there because that way you can try many different maki.“

“I got takeout here and it was so delicious! Their rolls were big, fresh and so worth the price. The space in the restaurant might seem a little but off at first (we were there when the dine in time was closed and only take out was being offered), but don’t let that fool you! I love this place and would totally come back again!“

“I love how big their menu is. It can be hard to find restaurants with more than one kind of veggie sushi and they had lots of options. I got the avocado/ cucumber maki and triple A maki. Both were delicious. I also got spicy mayo.. it didn't really taste like mayo to me. The sauce was really dark orange but I was fine with it. More sushi for less money than nori sushi. This was a good find on grubhub!“

“It was our best omakase expórtenle we had. The quality and creativity involved in the sushi plates were a great surprise. The chef was very friendly and explained all the different dishes and takes great care and thought on the preparation and offerings. The small and limiting setting gives a very nice and personal experience that was very enjoyable. Would definitely come back again.“

“HIDDEN GEM!! If you have a sushi craving and want BANG for your buck, this is the place. The service was quick and the people that work here are immensely kind. To say the food was incredible is an understatement. The Spider Tempura is a great starter. Same with the Maki combo. I got the Baked Salmon Maki and I couldn’t speak of it more highly. This place should have a line running down the block, i couldn’t recommend it more!“

“This place caught me by surprise. I was hungry after doing some exercise in the nearby park. The first time I came I ordered a beef teriyaki. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions and the flavor of the sauce. This is my second time coming here and I got the chicken teriyaki with fried rice. The sheer amount of chicken you get is a great value. The chicken also has a wonderful sear on the outside, giving it extra flavor while remaining tender. The fried rice also has great texture and flavor with plenty of crispy bits mixed in. I am going to be coming here regularly from now on.“

“Decent sushi for a takeout place, considering the low prices. I tried the spider maki and the scorpion maki. The fried crab in the spider maki was not crispy at all, but the scorpion maki was very good. The ginger on the side was also good.Good and fast service. My order was ready within 10 minutes. I made a mistake ordering online and somehow ordered an extra of a roll. I called within a minute and there was no trouble getting it changed to a different roll and paying the difference in person (in cash). There is another takeout place just a block away that has similar prices, with some things better and some things worse. I would try this place again.“
“Beautifully presented and very very tasty maki, chirashi, and poke bowl! They have a very large selection and the portions were also good. We devoured all of it so quickly!Even though I got takeout, the presentation is picture perfect, so I’m sure it would be even more beautiful dining in.Highly recommend trying this sushi place. I’m excited to come back!“

“I enjoyed this place more or less. The price was a bit steep. In this price range there are many good competitors (for example, YakitoriTotto etc.) which I wont compare them here since in the end of the day, it's the personal preference most of the time.
The restaurant has japanese style/atmostphere.
The menu was mainly Yakitori (as expected from the name) and a lot of appetizer. Not much of the main dishes to try out (in terms of types, such as Ramen and Curry, not the combinations (types of meats/toppings to put on)).
Most of the yakitori were well seasoned and cooked. All of them came with smoke scent from the charcoal grill, which is good. Only a few of them, such as the Gyu Sagari (Hanger Steak), that was a bit overcooked, which makes it a little chewy, and the Tebasaki (Chicken Wings) that was a bit burnt at the ends. However, all of them are still very delicious and enjoyable.
The servers were nice. One comment is that I felt that they were a bit too rush on taking away my empty plates. Maybe it was almost the closing time + I was the only customer so they paid a lot of attention to me. That's ok, I do appreciate the timely service you provided, I just felt a a bit tight to have someone come and grab your plate as soon as you finish.
Overall, I do enjoy the place and would recommend you to come try it out. The area also has many other restaurants in case this place is fully booked for the night.“

“Stumbled upon this gem while randomly browsing through Waltham, literally never hang around in this area, but this might change because this place has a WOW factor.
Amazing service, very fancy vibes, so calming, the food was so spectacular, I usually don’t force myself to finish the food but this, I had to scrape every last piece since the food was so worth it.
Will come back again ! Thank you for your hospitality Sakura!
Really recommend the golden rolls, and the Sakura special and the crab rangoons were the best ones with the house made dipping sauce ?“
