“INCREDIBLE! You will do a happy dance when you bite into that lobster roll and those hot hush puppies. Everyone was lovely, hilarious, and helpful. Kelly and Naya made this a wonderful eating experience. This is a bit of a hidden gem and worth your time and dollars.“

“This was an incredible find, I’m beyond pleased with my experience. Incredible service, incredible food, and incredible drinks. The ambiance is divine. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience, especially considering the price is so reasonable. 10/10“

“Me and the wife went here while on holiday in DC. We got the oysters Rockefeller, the only pasta they had, the seafood platter, and the jumbo fried asparagus. Sadly, the oysters tasted bad and cheese tasted sour. The pasta was bland kinda like chef boy-r-de. The seafood platter was also bland and overcooked, rubbery. Asparagus was good. With all this said I recommend it because maybe the food just wasn’t for us. It might fit your taste buds just not ours! We explain all this to management and they were very kind and accommodating about the situation. Service was also fantastic in all ways.“

“My daughter and son-in-law treated me for my birthday and what a treat it was! From the birthday champagne treat to the special popcorn to the dessert and all meals in between—nothing disappointed. The food was delicious. Filet mignon prepared to perfection. Lamb chops, braised beef, shrimp—all delicious. The sides; I could go on. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Our particular teenaged granddaughter loved her chicken tenders. Even our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed her kids meal. Definitely will return. This was our first time but it won’t be our last. And last but not least—our server, Micaiah, was the best. Her recommendations were on point. Top notch and so professional!“

“keep in mind that the lobster roll is a warm butter, connecticut style roll which was SUPER disappointing when I had the expectations set that it would be a nice cold roll with some warm butter drizzled or added to the side.
oysters were delicious and flavorful, but pretty small in size. menu was pretty pricy for the amount of food given. I will say, although I was disappointed in the lobster roll, the amount of lobster that they give was very satisfying- they pack the roll with a ton of meat.
loved the Walrus-based / oceanic atmosphere. and yes, this restaurant is based off of Lewis Carrol’s Walrus and the Carpenter Story“

“The Sea Bass was a total suprise. More often than not I am dissapointed when I order fish. Not the case here. The presentation was superb. The blend of flavors, textures and colors was an epicurean delight. Our waiter/bartender Damany was thoughtful, always on point without being intrusive. The whole experience was one worth repeating.“

“Mariscos 1133 is hands down one of the best brunch spots I’ve ever been to! The food selection is incredible — from savory dishes to the amazing drinks, everything was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen puts care into every plate.
The drink menu is just as impressive. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic mimosa or something more creative, their cocktails are delicious and well-balanced. The vibe is vibrant yet laid-back, making it perfect for a relaxing weekend brunch with friends or a casual date.
The service was also top-notch — friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Marisco 1133 if you’re looking for an unforgettable brunch experience!“

“This was my first time and I went with a friend of mine visiting from Philly. We went for brunch or early lunch. The food was great and the staff were friendly. Food arrived fast and tasted absolutely delicious. I had the seared shrimp tacos, moist and tasty-yum, my friend had the market fish sandwich for that day, he absolutely loved it and he doesn't usually eat fish lol.“

“I love Cordelia! The 4-6pm half price oyster happy hour and $9 cocktails are a steal. I love every dish I’ve tried on the full price menu, especially the prawns. The cocktails are a bit pricy to size but made well. The bartending staff are always conversational and helpful - highly recommend sitting in the bar.“

“Restaurant Week lunch menu was excellent. Good variety and enough choices for the 3 course menu. Can’t go wrong with any options. Excellent service. Bar area is nice-wish the dining room decor was as interesting as the food. (Maybe that’s the point—the foods the thing!)“

“I could not believe how good the food was. When everything came out I was legitimately giddy with excitement. I came here with my spouse and our three kids after hitting up a local event - so we were all hungry and a bit tired. The drinks came out quickly, and our appetizer came out shortly thereafter. And OMG the cornbread. I grew up in the south and cornbread was just so-so for me but this was hands down the best I’ve had in my 37 years. The food came out and the portions were absolutely enormous. My spouse and I shared a full rack of ribs (which were huge and meaty and so well seasoned) with a near bucket sized amount of fresh fries and a cast iron pan of Mac n cheese. My kids had tenders and fries and honestly there was so much I could’ve split one plate between the three of them. The price was super reasonable, even before I knew the portion sizes lol. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to everyone I know.“

“I took my teenage boys here on our last night in DC during spring break. The staff is absolutely wonderful, so friendly, kind, fun, energetic, and genuine. The food is completely amazing and all three of us loved everything we ate (scallops, filet, chicken) but it was very much the staff that made the experience so enjoyable. Highly recommended. Beautiful restaurant.“

“Absolutely loved my experience. My friend and I met up for Brunch and Alyson was our waitress and was really amazing. The restaurant wasn't too busy but at the same time, Alyson made us feel we were the only ones there, by being very attentive and personable. She wasn't pushy or rushed us to make decisions on drinks or entrees. She knew when to replenish our waters, asked if we needed anything, just all around great!“

“It was in the middle of a heavy rain storm as I ordered so I ran to my car! The young man walked my user to the car in the downpour. That was next level! The food was good too. Only thing was most of the crab options were 86'd. Will have to come back on a sunny day to try more if the menu“

“Neighborhood institution that continues to deliver! When we lived in the Dstrict a decade+ ago, we would frequent Hank’s on Q Street NW for its amazing brunch and happy hour oyster deals. After all these years, popped in on a Saturday midafternoon for a much needed martini and ordered the griddled crab cakes. And it was BETTER than ever! Seriously, I have a very specific way that I like my martini, Hector nailed it (thank you!), and the crab cakes were crisped on the outside, meaty (as in not cheating you with starch fillers) and so juicy on the inside, and the coleslaw side (vinegar based) was on point too. Love Hanks now more than ever.“

“It was the perfect meal, from appetizers to main course, and dessert! Our server, Ricardo, was very attentive and informative about the menu and gave us personal recommendations, as well. “My husband really wanted some fish so we tried this place. The fish is fresh they clean and cook it. Order ahead because the lines are long and so is the wait. He said the fish was ok but needed more seasoning. The fries were great!
Parking: It was crowded and parking was slim I found a parking space right in front but people were pulling up in the street and parking next to parked cars and picking up their food. It could cause a problem especially doing rush hour.“

“This visit I ordered chicken livers and they gave me smothered pork chops instead. I was rather disappointed because I avoid pork. Overall everything is 5 star except for my last visit 3 weeks ago. But I definitely will be coming back because of the quality of food and the portions. Thank you. I will make sure and check my order first before leaving the restaurant. I ordered carry out on my last visit. I didn't see the error until I arrived home.“

“Returning to Washington from a France worn down by its own melancholy — a nation led by a presidential couple seemingly disconnected from l'esprit de grandeur — was a relief. The Monocle, nestled just a short pas de géant from Capitol Hill, felt like an antidote. Walking through its doors, I immediately felt transported, like one of the CIA operatives from Lioness Psy-Ops, covertly meeting allies in a safe haven of quiet luxury. Opened in October 1960 by Connie and Helen Valanos, The Monocle has seen more political deals sealed over its crab cakes than perhaps in the chambers of Congress themselves. As the Washingtonian noted, “The Monocle is a better restaurant than it’s given credit for,” serving dishes like “pan-fried Chesapeake Bay oysters baked in a light curry sauce” that feel like culinary diplomacy at its finest. What strikes one immediately is the duality of the space: half public house, half refined eatery. In the restaurant's more elegant quarters, I chose a glass of Sancerre, its mineral brightness pairing effortlessly with the signature crab cakes — plump, golden, and loaded with chair de crabe so sweet it could make a New Englander weep. A red wine-braised New York strip followed, its sauce reminiscent of the old-world simplicity one finds in France’s brasseries, yet undeniably American in its confident presentation. The maître d’, Nick Selimos — a fixture here for nearly three decades — greeted every guest with the kind of warmth that makes even the most hardened lobbyist feel comme chez soi. “There’s nothing more satisfying,” said John Valanos, the owner, “than having someone say, ‘We’ll come back ourselves.’” And come back they do — senators, staffers, and curious tourists alike. Sipping a digestif, I glanced at the black-and-white photos adorning the walls — Kennedy, Nixon, and other Washington titans. It’s said JFK dined here regularly during his Senate days. As The Washington Post humorously observed, "Intentions are spoken here, alliances formed, and deals sealed," all over dishes that balance simplicity and sophistication. Leaving The Monocle, I felt reconnected to the vibrancy of Washington, its pulse steadied by the legacy of places like this — where history, gastronomy, and a touch of joie de vivre blend into something unforgettable.“

“In the hustle and bustle of our complex world, sometimes the best things do the simple things perfectly rather than many things somewhat well. This salmon BLT embodies this ethos. The bacon was perfectly crispy, the salmon was flaky and flavorful, the bread was delicately toasted, and the sauce, onions, and lettuce were gently complementing.
Kudos, Neopol... Kudos... Hear, hear... Cheers 🥂“

“One of my favorite restaurant, my wife and I have been coming here since it opened in 1989. A few years ago we moved further out from DC and we don't go very often, leaving it for special occasions.
