“As a somewhat regular at the Tombs and having dined at a few of the many Clyde's Restaurants, I can honestly say that my expectations were nowhere near as high as to the level of quality that my friends and I enjoyed tonight at the 1789. In a word it was simply "AMAZING". The service was flawless, there were there when we needed them and mysteriously disappeared when we were set. Sometimes in fine dining the service staff can be hovering over us like Seagulls on the prowl at the Jersey Shore. We took our time to consume three courses and an enjoy a few libations. The dining room is intimate and inviting the fireplace was lit aglow, warm and comforting to sit by. The menu is adventurous but not contrived or so esoteric that we needed to google explanations so that we might navigate our choices. Presentations were elegant and simple with the emphasis on execution. Unlike so many trendy new places around DC seem to be awash in multiple concoctions that involve far too many syllables. The flavors were on point and the kitchen showed a prowess that must only come as a notice that it's all about the taste, the freshness and the seasonality that we find ourselves in. The New Bedford Seared Sea Scallops were delicious, plump and sweet. And the accompanying sauce just perfectly paired with the Scallops. The Escargot garlicky and salty. The only ever so slight misstep was with the Grilled Octopus, a wee tad rubbery possibly didn't poach long or slow enough to tenderize the tentacles before they were finished on the Grill. Our Entrees were all eagerly passed around the table and there was unanimous agreement that all four were perfect. We sampled the Lamb, the Halibut, Duck and the Wagu Short-ribs, whose taste and tenderness took me back to a similar experience 30 years ago at a small French Cafe in Newport. In my Humble opinion this entire experience was undoubtedly the finest meal I've ever been served in our Nations Capital. Reservations are almost always a must but trust me it is indeed worth the wait. Everyone got dessert because we were all part of the Clean Plate Club. Of particular note was the 1789 Pastry Chef's interpretation of Classic Carrot Cake. Reservations are highly recommended and be assured that you will leave with a delicious taste in your mouth and an overwhelming urge to plan your return to the "1789".“
“Sarah's ice cream caused confusion to my all time favorite flavor. Rose Pistachios, Earl Grey Speculoos, Hazelnut Biscoff, and Bluberry Swirl are some of evolving favorites. Cannot wait to try new monthly flavors. It's true joy to have local and the best ice cream store near by!“
“Jayson and I went to grab some creamy delights Creamy deliciousness! “Carmen's Best shaved Ice I ever Had In my life I say this because It was just so soft and smooth. The service was Really good The co workers were very patience with me I was so Indecisive Cause they have so much flavors. I love how they let me pick 2 flavors with no charge too I wish it was closer to Frederick. I think Carmen's Italian ice is way better then Rita's to be honest.“
“At Ice N' Slice we discovered a delightful twist on our pizza nights. Here, Ethiopian spices dance with traditional flavors, creating something truly unique. Each dish we tried was a testament to culinary creativity, perfectly suited for any palate. But what really set our experience apart was Mr. Biniyam's warmth. His hospitality wasn't just service; it was like being welcomed by an old friend, making our dinner feel extra special. This place is more than a restaurant; it's where food becomes an adventure, and every visit feels like home. For anyone craving a new flavor or a cozy spot to dine, Slice N' Ice is the perfect find.“
“Great ice cream with tons of flavors, one flavor for $5, two for $6!Like most places, they offered free samples and I really appreciated the clipboard wall to clearly display all the flavors they had available. There were 3 different freezers, and so many options for cones, shakes, toppings, and even pints to take home ??I really enjoyed the matcha cheesecake and the orange chocolate chip flavors, as well as red velvet cake that had chunks of cake in their ice cream, that I tried but there were so many to choose from that I couldn’t try so I’d be happy to check it out again!Dietary restrictions: Ice cream flavors with nuts are clearly distinguished“
“This is a cute little place with unique gelato flavors. We waited on a short line about 5 minutes. The staff is big and extremely agile. I was able to sample some flavors before deciding on hazelnut crackle and bananas foster. You can have two flavors in one cup. This is some of the best gelato I've had to be honest. It's just very expensive. My tiny maybe 6 ounce cup was almost $9. It's not something I would eat often at that price but a nice occasional treat.“
“The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.“
“My son and I ate at Bacio today and let me say we had a wonderful experience. We sat on the cute patio and it was so peaceful and quiet, you wouldn’t know you were in the middle of DC. The server was friendly and attentive. I liked the alcohol selection, and had wine. We enjoyed mozzarella sticks which we could tell were made in house and not just reheated from frozen like in most other places. The pizza my son got was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed my arugula salad with shrimp. I wish they were a little more cooked but that is a personal preference. The desserts very very good too, we really liked the limoncello raspberry cake. We really highly recommend this place and we can’t wait to go back!“
“Future patrons of Crumbl, beware. These cookies are gigantic mounds of addictive deliciousness. More like 4 cookies in one, we like to order the 4 pack, divide the cookies into quarters, then share each one. We can't go too often if we want to keep somewhat fit, but these are a yummy treat every now and then when the flavors of the week look irresistible.“
“Super great ice cream place! The worker who helped us was super nice and recommend our ice cream combos. Flavor was super great too. We went before it got busy so it was quick and easy. Our total for what was pictured was $20 so be mindful of price but a super solid ice cream place to enjoy“
“We've been going to The Scoop for about a year. We found it on a hot night and Googling for ice cream. We love The Scoop! The ice cream is delicious, and we know we will always have a fresh scoop of ice cream. Prices aren't bad, particularly for small batch ice cream, but the quality makes it worth it.Excited for it to warm up some more, and we will absolutely be going regularly!“
“My baby girl and I truly enjoyed their desserts. I purchased two banana puddings and a kale/callaloo patty. The patty was amazing, filled with flavor! We are definitely returning for that deliciousness. The kind young woman at the front let baby girl try the birthday cake flavor and she wouldn’t let the spoon go the entire walk home?. After purchasing great reads from Sankofa bookstore, we ended with a full heart and stomach at Here’s The Scoop?“
“Got the stratiacella and passion fruit sorbet. Like that they do two flavors in one cup. Wish that the stratiechella had those more classic chocolate ribbons but the passion fruit was killer. Relatively fast service even though we were stuck behind a big group of kids. Perfect post dinner snack vibes.“
“The much-anticipated sister restaurant of Purple Patch opened just a few weeks ago and I'm already hooked! It's a lovely addition to the neighborhood, offering a simple menu with a lot of flavor. The wagyu burger is nicely balanced, and depending on your appetite you can get a single to a triple patty. The ube soft serve with coconut is such a hit and the flavors are perfect. It's been really busy for good reason, so you might have to wait in line especially on really nice days, but service is pretty fast and they also have an order online link. Enjoy the outdoor seating on a nice day! Indoor area is small but very pretty, and stools with counter-style tables lining the interior. Very kid friendly as well as they have a kids' menu,' tables, and neighborhood kids' art on the walls. You can also purchase a few Filipino snacks like v-cut chips and boy bawang (garlic corn nuts), and they also have some canned non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages available. With the addition of Joia Burger, the owner Patrice really shows how much she cares about the Mount Pleasant community and is invested in it. It's a great spot to swing by for a quick meal and friendly faces!“
“I love Pasha Castle! All of the treats are delightful. The staff was very helpful, and we were able to taste test some things to help make our decision- which wasn’t easy with some many delicious options. The Pasha Special is to die for, and the Turkish Delight options make me feel at home. The only downside to this place is that there are limited seating options, and the atmosphere and design are very minimalistic for those who might want to eat there treats while here instead of taking them to-go.“
“My husband and I love this place & always recommend to our friends who haven’t been yet. From the gelato, to drip coffee, gluten free brownies and breakfast sandwiches and burritos, everything is SUPERB! Yesterday we ordered the breakfast burrito(comes in spinach wrap), waffles & breakfast tacos with bacon added. As usual, everything was fresh, quick & filling! Kevin up front is always great to chat with & super helpful. The other young ladies are also friendly, hardworking & keep the place so neat & tidy. Stop by!!“
“Went here on a whim with a few friends after dinner. Very cute and cozy shop, for a quick sweet treat. I got the blueberry basil sorbet and pain perdu. The blueberry basil was phenomenal!!! Really tasted like fresh blueberries and the basil was standout. The pain perdu was a little lackluster compared to the sorbet, however it was very creamy and cinnamon forward. I would go back for the sorbet for sure. A con for this shop is that they don’t do any samples which was a big bummer.Vegetarian options: Sorbets and vegan icecream“
“Came here on a Sunday night for ice cream and had a great experience! Good range of flavors and a nice atmosphere. It was fairly busy, with a short wait before ordering and all the tables full. The small cup comes with two flavors and is ~$8. Pricey for the size, but it is expected for Dupont. I haven’t tried the coffee yet, but it seems like it would be a great spot, and I would love to come back.“
“We went to the Mono (Georgetown) location and our burgers were excellent. The staff was friendly and the space was clean. There was outdoor seating enjoyed by many, but we chose to sit indoors and people-watch in the charming, bustling area on a Sunday afternoon. Great experience as out-of-towners!“
“Delicious dairy and ice cream! They accidentally left a pint of gelato out of our order and then drove it by the same day with an extra included! So nice, and such incredible service during crazy times! I'm excited to go back there in person when things are opened up again.“
“I'm a home ice cream chef that makes a LOT of ice cream, usually a few batches per week. And so whenever I travel for work, I like to hit up a bunch of ice cream shops both for new ideas and to also see how well that my secret ice cream making companions are doing.Typically I'll grab a mint chip ice cream, since it's a simple flavor that does a good job of highlighting whether the ingredients are high quality or not. But I saw the Grapefruit Brulee pint on the menu and knew I had to grab it.WOW am I glad I did because it was one of the best flavors of ice cream I have ever had. Really wish I had this recipe for this one because it was so danged good. Whoever at Happy Ice Cream reads this, major kudos to the chef who came up with this flavor. So very very good. The only real downside is that they only sell pints in the winter, which is way more than I should probably buy for myself. That said, the staff was super nice and fun to chat with, and they loaded me up with extra spoons to bring back to my hotel room.“
“There just isn't anything better than stopping in and enjoying a cup of Jeni's truly splendid ice cream. Jen I worked on perfecting her ice cream for years before discovering a secret ingredient that makes her ice cream the creamiest, smoothest ice cream you'll ever try! She has a variety of creative flavors and even dairy free! This location seems small but there is seating upstairs so you can annoy your treat with a splendid view of the U Street corridor.“
“I heard about Levain and was in the Bethesda area, so I had to make a stop. As soon as you walk in, you’re hit was amazing smells of baked goods and fresh coffee. The options are simple and straightforward. The staff was all business; get you in and get you out - order and move out of the way.I tried four different cookies. Were they worth the hype? Yes! Absolutely! Maybe some of the best cookies I’ve ever had. At $5 a piece, they’re expensive but worth the cost. I will definitely visit again when in town and look forward to trying other options and flavors. Thanks.“
“This place is like a tiny apothecary filled with very beautiful and expensive treats. There were beautiful single source chocolates and packets of pasta that looked like art. The bagel I got was perfectly functional, good for a walk, but I would come back to get a gift or a special treat for someone.“
“This place can get popping' with its limited parking but it's close to my house and they usually have what you're looking for. Street parking can be available if they have no space in their lot and they have a small seating section next to the line where you order. There are three windows you can order from but only the first two have the bar code scanners. I love this place and will definitely be coming more during summer time!“
“Finally got by to check this place out a d was not disappointed. Grandma, Posh and her son were all very nice and d personable. You can tell they take pride in the ingredients they use as soon as you bite in. I had the Cheesecake waffle with strawberries and a scoop of soft serve and it was amazing! Definitely going back!“
“I have only been here a few times. On this visit, I was in the area and decided I wanted a gelati. I enjoyed one at their other location earlier in the month and thought it would be fitting to get the same size here, but different flavors. Here, a small gelati is $6. What I got may not have made sense together, but it didn't matter to me as gelatis are growing on me. For the custard, I got Nutella & Butterscotch. You can get it separately or in a swirl. I opted for the latter. For the Italian ice, I got cherry, and it came with bits of cherry pieces as well. For those that don't know what a gelati is: it's custard in the cup first, then Italian ice in the middle, and then more custard on top. The concoction of flavors together was great. I enjoyed it. Who does not love Nutella or Butterscotch...yum. I enjoyed the cherry pieces as well within the cherry shaved ice.“
“Gelat’oh came to my school for teacher appreciation week! It was by far the BEST part of the week! They had so many great flavors it was hard to choose! I got 1/2 salted caramel and 1/2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch and they both taste DELISH! The woman in the truck was so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend!!“
“Yummy froyo place in Bethesda Row. Smaller array of flavors but they are all so delicious! Also includes vegan froyo options like sorbet. Good topping choices with a clean hygienic self serve area. Super nice workers who let us sample flavors before we actually got them. Yummy and good music taste. Very clean interior and perfect stop while shopping around Bethesda Row. Really want to emphasize how kind the worker was!! I think his name was Pablo, he's so sweet and seems to really care about the store.“
“I haven't been here in a couple of years, but I LOVE the new flavors. I got a cup of the guava and can't wait to get the passion fruit next time. I'm so happy they are diversifying the flavors, but I of course couldn't leave without a pint of the rum raisin. They make their own ice cream so it always tastes fresh and doesn't have that artificial flavor some places have. It's definitely a must try for any dessert lovers who find themselves in the Montgomery county area“
“You have to go! DEFINITELY WORTH IT. THE RATING SHOULD BE 5 STARRS! I've been in DC for 12 years, and I wish that I had discovered this place sooner. The texture of the ice cream is impeccable. Creamy and luxurious without being dense, heavy, or tacky. No frost or big ice crystals in the body of the ice cream, making it super smooth. There's enough varieties without everything tasting like chocolate, cake, or berry forward like your mainstream ice cream shops.I got the halvah, cardamom almond, and Fred & ginger (peach, brandy, & ginger). The cardamom almond is my favorite from the scoops I've tried out. I also bought mud pie pint to take home.“
“Date of Visit: Thursday Aug 24th, 2023 Good portions for their ice cream. There were many flavours available. A lot of them had chocolate base/ content. I am not a fan of chocolate and vice versa. I ended up getting pralines and Cream which is my default flavour in these situations. The service was very friendly and helpful. The shop is located right across from the waterfront park – which makes it a great place to enjoy your ice cream. The prices are a bit steep but the volume is high, so I guess it is worth it.“
“It was a very great experience out with family. It’s perfect for a lunch or a dinner spot. It’s not super fancy but has a comfortable place. The counter is used for ordering and then the server brings it out. The food tasted great. And there’s ice cream options by the counter. Would go back again.“
“Enjoyed coming here with my family. The young woman at the counter was so friendly. I told her I was hard of hearing and she was so patient with me. The young woman's name is Unique. She really cares. The food was good but the customer service was excellent. This was our first time in the DC area. We will definitely come back here on out next trip here.“
“We were staying next door to the Flavor Garden and came in for breakfast on our first day in DC, the service was good, the good was so good. I keep thinking about the scrambled eggs! They tasted freshly scrambled and made out of real eggs, and seriously the best eggs I have had in my life! The french toast and bacon were also good but not as good as those eggs! We returned that evening for dinner and my husband and I both had the burgers. They were the best ever! Great flavor and texture and so savory. I also had one of the best margaritas I have ever had and all in all really good filling meals! I wish we got a chance to go again before we left DC. Believe me when I tell you go check them out!“
“Cute little shop will the best booba in Rockville Derwood area. Love the shop and set up. Amazing ambiance. During the summer you can make your own ice cream, literally. I highly recommend it. You will love the variety of tastes, tropical mixed with asian flavors.“
“A nice little ice cream shop with vegan options. They can get busy on the weekends but the line typically moves pretty fast - go during the week in the middle of the day and there’s usually no line. They also have pint size options to take home. The praline butter cake and the vegan planet earth are my favorite so far.“
“This place was so cute! They had red and white stripes as their decor, and also a pretty good outdoor place. The workers were kind, and they brought our order pretty quickly. I got my go-to Rita's order, blue raspberry and root beer Italian ice with gummy bears. It brought out those exact flavors, and I loved it. My friend got the pear ice cream, which they said "I like it" and they said that "they were surprised the small size is still a lot." I guess the small size is a bit large, but other than that, this place is very awesome!“
“If you're a fan of matcha, this place is a must-visit. Personally, I always opt for their ice cream, and it never fails to impress. While more topping options would be a bonus, the overall experience is great. The vibe of the place adds to the enjoyment. Five stars for consistently delightful matcha treats and a wonderful atmosphere!“
“Definitely try the Hazelnut Crackle ice cream – it's a winner. The folks working there are pretty friendly. Heads up though, even though pour over coffee is listed on the menu, they said they don't actually serve it. Ended up with a Decaf Americano instead, and honestly, it was pretty terrible.“
“The place is different from when it first opened. The chicken is as good as ever. It's still more of a take out place than an eat-in, but there are picnic tables available if you want to eat there (we did). The service was good and the food was worth the trek over.“
“Got the stratiacella and passion fruit sorbet. Like that they do two flavors in one cup. Wish that the stratiechella had those more classic chocolate ribbons but the passion fruit was killer. Relatively fast service even though we were stuck behind a big group of kids. Perfect post dinner snack vibes.“
“I love Ben and Jerry's and am so happy they have vegan options at their scoop shop. This location has a small seating area. About 15 people could eat indoors. When the weather is nice there is plenty of outdoor seating. The employees were very kind and helpful. I came with friends and they had so much patience handing out samples and answering out questions about the vegan flavors and which cones were vegan friendly. I got the nondairy Whirled Piece and the nondairy chocolate chip cookie dough on a sugar cone. The ice creams were great! You would never know it was vegan: the cone tasted a bit stale. Next time I visit this location I will either get a cake cone or just a cup so I do not have the disappointing taste in my mouth of an old sugar cone.“
“This place was amazing and great i had went here a couple of months ago and they had no tables but i went again today and they had tables the floors were done and it was amazing and this is definitely the place u want to go to eat ice cream and they have tables outside and the ice was so “
“Great, locally made ice cream. They've got a wide selection of flavors, including some less common options like honey lavender. The service was amazing, and the gentleman who helped us was very patient with our kids. They've also got books and board games available in the seating area.Kid-friendliness: Very patient service, let the kids sample a couple flavors when they couldn't decide.“
“Our family has tried the chocolate stracciatella, mint stracciatella and strawberry. All so creamy and delicious! More importantly, the customer service is amazing. There have been delays with mail delivery in our area so Gemma personally drove to our home to deliver our gelato to us. AMAZING! We will definitely be ordering more.“
“Hidden gem - don’t miss this - it is all yummy at a level 10. I am ALLERGIC to milk and dairy - no problem, they had 3 non-dairy flavors which was awesome for me - mango, pina colada (or pineapple- can’t recall, and a blueberry flavor. That was a win for me. Scrumptious! However-- this place is crowded and the toppings are self- serve. Yummy fruit and nuts and chocolate chips and whipped topping and chocolate syrup and the list goes on forever. But back to self serve elements- I followed about 5 teenage boys and I kept thinking to myself, “now what did they touch before walking through the door?” There was a bottle of hand sanitizer near the register but by The time the person got to the hand sanitizer they had already touched all the spoons. The toppings are behind a shield but it’s still a little dicey. I gave 4 stars because this bothered me. I also gave a 4 because this bowl of soft serve was quite pricey. I no we live in the DMV area but must everything be $12? Boooooo!!! Rate that a 3. My dessert was a 5! This averages 4“
